What To Do: You can walk or drive the half-mile to the ski slopes, tubing hills, 18 Hole Championship Golf Course or the Lodge (which has a comfortable bar/restaurant overlooking the ski slopes and a new gourmet restaurant, Ascent, also overlooking the slopes, which has a variety of tasteful delights).
Bryce Resort’s Lake Laura is a 5-minute drive to swimming, sun bathing, fishing, and small boat rentals. There are several playgrounds as well as miniature golf for those lazy summer evenings. Orkney Springs, a beautiful little town 2.5 miles away, runs a Summer Music Festival where you can attend lovely concerts under the skies on their beautiful lawn while dining on your own picnic or one provided by their refreshment stand.
The Equestrian Barn is only about 3 miles away if you like to ride, and a trip to Deauville Fallow Deer Farm where you can feed the deer, pick your own homespun vegetables, buy fresh (and I do mean fresh) eggs from 19 varieties of chickens is a short drive from the house. If you have 4-wheel drive you can go the back way through the ford at the creek and then it’s an even shorter drive. Grass skiing, mountain boarding and tennis are popular summer activities available at Bryce.
There are many antique shops, vineyards, battlefields, museums and caverns to explore in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. In the fall, you might try a family trip to the corn maze, about 12 miles away, located next to Meem’s Bottom Covered Bridge, an historic look back to the good old days.
Bryce has its own private airport, located next to the library on Resort Drive. So, fly in, pick up a book, and head up the mountain to your fabulous house on the hill where you can just stay home and enjoy the house. If you didn’t bring a good book you can borrow one of ours and lounge on the deck with the hummingbirds and other avian visitors.
Your “Home Away from Home”
Upstairs you might try sitting in one of the 5 recliners in the great room with a fire going and watch a movie on the 42” cable TV with VCR and DVD players. Adjoining this two-story great room (with remote controlled Casablanca Ceiling fan) is the gourmet kitchen, dining area and den with desk and floor to ceiling bookcases. The two story windows, which encase 2 sets of sliding glass doors opening onto the upstairs deck, have remote controlled automatic draperies, insuring privacy and blocking light for daytime TV viewing.
The extra large Master Bedroom has a king size bed, TV, large private bathroom and opens onto the upstairs deck. Also on the main floor of the house (upstairs) is a second bedroom with a queen size bed, TV, and is adjacent to the second upstairs bath.
Downstairs includes another great room (rec room) with a wet bar and 4 bar stools, a pool table/ping pong table combination, a large table with chairs for playing games (which you will find in the floor to ceiling bookcase), and a separate living room area with sofa, chairs, fireplace, cable TV, stereo/CD player and VCR. Sliding glass doors from this area open onto the downstairs deck, which is shaded.
Also downstairs are two more bedrooms, one with a king size bed and TV, and the second with a double bed and single bed. The third bathroom is on this level and easily accessible to both bedrooms and the great room area. A laundry room equipped with a washer, dryer, ironing board and iron completes the downstairs.
For your convenience: All linens (sheets and towels), soap, dishes, kitchen starter kit (soap detergent, sponge, dish towel, dishwashing soap), silverware, pots & pans, coffee maker, toaster, toilet paper, paper towels and a few garbage bags are provided. You should replenish anything your need beyond the above.
For your comfort: This property is professionally cleaned and prepared before the arrival of each guest. Pets are NOT allowed and there is NO SMOKING indoors.
