The Chinkapin Inn is located inside the gated community of Bear Paw. This mountain and lake resort is in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Chinpapin Inn sits at the water's edge on Lake Hiwassee, providing guests with a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. The "deep water" and large private dock at the mouth of the open channel provide opportunities for great fishing, swimming and boating.
A wooden crowsnest at the waters edge offres a great area for dining or watching the sunset. .
There are four lake marinas, one that is open all year. Lake Hiwassee has 180 miles of shoreline with less than 10% being privately owned.
Chinkapin Inn is a smoke-free lakefront cabin that is fully furnished and offers a relaxing getaway for four to six people. The main floor of Chinkapin has ceramic tile floors and includes a fully furnished kitchen with granite counter tops and bar stools.
The livingroom offers fantastic lake views and large comfy leather sofas to relax on. This floor also includes a nice bedroom with one queen sized bed, large bathroom with granite counter top, and a large laundry area.
The upstairs includes a den with two hide-a-beds, entertainment center and a comfortable bedroom with a queen sized bed and great lake views. The floors upstairs are done in hardwoods.
All interior walls are done in "lodge style" wood with rustic accents to compliment the mountain environment. Outside you will find a spacious covered porch that serves as an extended living space that also includes a large charcoal smoker grill. This cabin is well kept.
Come and sit on the porch and marvel at the colorful sunrises and sunsets while you listen to a chorus of wild birds. In the spring and summer, watch the boats glide on the blue-green waters of the lake.
In the fall, take in the flaming reds, oranges and yellows of the hardwoods that surround this little bit of heaven. In the winter, you might be lucky enough to play in the snow!

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Chinkapin Inn in June 2010 and enjoyed a great getaway. Very clean, well maintained, quiet, and peaceful made for a very pleasant experience and we highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a laidback break from the hustle and bustle.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
