West Seattle cottage description

Walking on the beach, bicycling, kyaking, kite flying, and roller blading are possibly the best in the city, or maybe you'd like to have a wiener roast in one of the firepits on the beach or...people watch from one of many benches along the promenade.
Staying here you are walking distance to the Alki lighthouse & many restaurants, parks, movie theatre, busline and a free shuttle to the water taxi...which takes you to the Seattle waterfront, where you can walk to the world famous Pike Place Market, Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners or Century Link, home of the Seattle Seahawks,
among other things to do....the aquarium, space needle, restaurants, shopping, or go for a cruise on one of the Argosy boats, or one of many ferries to our islands....enjoy all the fun the downtown waterfront offers.

My beach cottage has a European feel....a little French...a little Italian...and sleeping is a little like the Dutch sleeping closets from history. I guarantee you'll have an outrageous time here!
Offered are a fully furnished kitchen, two baths, one bedroom + sleeping loft, both furnished with built in double beds...sleeps 4. Not suitable for small children or elderly or any one with difficulty getting around. Beautiful views of puget sound and the Olympic mountains from every window and the deck...while sleeping you'll hear the sound of waves outside your window or possibly sea lions, seagulls or...eagles... it's a very peaceful getaway or join the fun going on everywhere!
I recently finished a remodel and now have a wonderful 'sitting perch' with a view and steps to it, as well as the sleeping loft! The ladder is gone!

Spent a few nights this summer while in Seattle on business. Made me feel like I was on holiday! The views from the deck overlooking the sound was very tranquil. The owner was very accommodating, and felt at home right away. Easy proximity from DT Seattle, and airport. Will definitely stay here again on next trip to the WC. Enjoy!!

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights while we visited Seattle. We were so glad we chose Alki Beach and this beautiful cottage! Everything was great, but here are some of our favorites: 1) the view - it is amazing and it is from every window! 2) the porch - 3 of our 4 nights we got takeout from a restaurant or food from the great market just down the road and ate on the porch. We knew we were not going to find a better view anywhere else! 3) the great music and DVD collection. We listened to music all the time and had two movie nights. 4) the SUPER comfortable beds. I slept in until 9am one morning, which I never do. Both beds were very cozy! 5) the decorations and fun touches to the house. We kept discovering little touches. It was fun! 6) the location. The house is a block from the beach where there are lots of restaurants. There is also a great market a few blocks away that has an amazing collection of prepared food, cheeses, wines and gourmet style food. I loved being in beautiful Alki Beach instead of in the city. We had bikes and biked to the water taxi the day we went to Seattle to sightsee. As I said before, we had intended to go more, but liked Alki beach so much, we only went to the city one day. The water taxi is within walking distance if you don't have bikes, and there is a free shuttle. There is a great wide bike trail/road all around Alki beach that is great. As you head north toward the city, you come around the corner and there is the most beautiful view of the city across the water. We were so happy that we ended up staying at this beautiful cottage on great Alki Beach. When I go back, there is no doubt this is where I will stay!

I just spent a week at this wonderful cottage. I was in town for my High School reunion and the location couldn't have been better. The owner was so gracious and accommodating ( a last minute change) . Where to begin.. the home exudes charm and warmth.. the colors and art are amazing. There are delights to behold in every nook and cranny. The front "secret garden" entry is charming and the back deck overlooking the water is heaven. The swing was my favorite spot. You can hear the Harbor Seals from the sleeping loft, which isn't that difficult to get to via a ladder. The downstairs bedroom and bath is a perfect set up! Great water pressure and the downstairs shower is great. I would highly recommend this cottage and would love to come back again!

My mom and I stayed here for 5 nights in early August while visiting family in the area and truly enjoyed the experience! The house is so artistic and playfully decorated, everyday we would discover some new quirk or piece of art we hadn't seen before. There are so many things to do around the Alki beach area (plenty of restaurants within walking distance, beach, water taxi, ect) but one of our favorite things to do was sit and watch the water... almost every room in the house has an awesome view! I stayed in the loft, and there was a window directly next to my head where I could watch the ships pass at night and listen to the water crash on the shore. To anyone thinking of staying here I recommend an able body and a sense of adventure. Both sets of stairs are a bit steep, the beds are high off the floor, and the house (as it is old) has some quirks. Overall: A memorable, relaxing, beautiful experience that was even better than what we were expecting from the pictures and description. I would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from a 7-night stay at this cottage and could not believe our good luck in finding such a gem. We came with our 2 children, ages 7 and 10. This was the perfect spot for a family trip; kids got to enjoy some beach time mornings and evenings, and days were full of city time. The views from this house are incredible - mountains and water, and Queen Anne off to the east. We felt like we were in a Mediterranean village. Windows open the whole time, no bugs, flowers everywhere, gentle breeze, ocean sounds, bliss. We cooked a fair amount and kitchen was well-equipped. Nice video library for an evening movie. My son loved watching all the boats from the sleeping loft; my 7 yr old couldn't manage the ladder going up so do mind the owner's comments about being a bit tricky for those who can't get around easily (those legs just weren't quite long enough for her to feel comfortable going back down the ladder.) Loved the ease of the water taxi, and W. Seattle has a charming business district. Took advantage of the Sunday morning farmer's market. Plenty of nice grocery stores. We had a car but looked like the bus was an easy option. One of our best trips ever.

We spent 7 nights at this lovely home and enjoyed the experience immensely! The owner was very responsive to our questions and was flexible with our last minute need to change dates. The house is clean, well-equipped, and very creatively decorated. The location was superb, a very short walk to alki beach, where we did a morning run, yoga, ate breakfast, watched volleyball, and relaxed. Very easy to get into downtown, etc. I would recommend this to anyone, though the loft bedroom would be a bit challenging for someone unable to climb a ladder. Beautiful views and loved to hear the water at night!

Owner response: I'm not surprised at the good time these guests had! They were the happiest....most fun guests I've had..... I knew a good time was in store for all of them! COME BACK ANYTIME!

My sister and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the "Cottage". The Cottage has been completely redone. The owner and house were highlighted in a recent edition of the Pacific Northwest Magazine which was on the coffee table in the living room. There is a large bedroom with full bathroom down downstaris and a loft bedroom upstairs above the kitchen. 2nd full bathroom is on the main floor. There are breathtaking views of the water from each room in the house. The house could fit 4 (2 couples) comfortably. Upon our arrival, we were met by the Owner and given keys and a tour. The owner was very gracious, friendly and accomodating - a Maitre-She! We spent the next 3 days looking at unique art, sipping wine on the deck, watching amazing sunsets amongst a floral extravaganza. The house is tiny by square feet but the space is so well planned out, you would never notice. You need to be physically able to climb stairs to the loft bedroom and/or able to get yourself into bed downstairs which has been built high off the floor I am in my mid 50's and my sister in her mid 60s and we did not have a problem but something to be aware of. Location is excellent - minutes to downtown. There is a shuttle and water taxi but we didn't get a chance to use it - this time!

The description of the property was certainly accurate concerning the view, it was beautiful. Where the owner was remiss was not describing the bedroom situation. It is down narrow and fairly steep stairs. The bedroom is small and the bed built in. The omission was that it was necessary to climb up on a large Box and then climb again unto the bed. The person next to the wall had to climb over the other person to get out of bed. It was far from convenient and close to impossible for senior citizens. We lasted two nights of our seven night stay. To avoid this I think the description should specify the difficulty getting into the bed. We would not have stayed there had the the owner made a full disclosure.

Owner response: I am really sorry this didn't work out for you... it is never my intent to mislead, my discription states, the sleeping as "a little like the Dutch sleeping closets from history and that both are double beds. one in a bedroom the other a sleeping loft," but...now...I have added to the discription that the beds are built in and not the best for seniors or anyone having difficulties getting around. The bedroom is downstairs and measures 11'X15'.......the loft is upstairs and not much bigger than the bed!

Our relatives stayed at this property during the Thanksgiving Holiday. The owner was fabulous in terms of getting us set up for their stay. She even dropped the keys off in my mailbox which is nearby. The property has a great view and all the amenities were super and as advertised. Thanks for making the holiday much easier with a local place for the family!

About the owner: I am a retired artist/designer...I fell in love with this property because of its' location. It had been vacant for a year so needed lots of work, which my two boys [both contractors/architects/artists] remodeled for me. From the inside to the porch swing on the deck...it is positively delicious!!! I am a swimmer, boater and all around beach & water lover....it's very peaceful and ...meditational but very exciting to be so close to the action! I'm also a traveler so I want to share this gem with other travelers.
