Memories of bright blue skies and fresh clean air will linger long after you've departed. This property isn't about crowds or malls, although the trendy city of Bend with its Mount Bachelor Ski Lodge and tons of shopping is just a quick 35 minutes from Prineville.

We don't mean to sell Prineville short. Doorway to the pine studded Ochoco mountains. Good restaurants in town, along with some great little antique, home decor, gift, and clothing shops. Several spas, coffee shops, a retail bookstore, and really nice people.

For a taste of Old Prineville, stop in Prineville Menswear on S. Main. Really good stuff. And maybe Dad's Cafe next door or in the Tastee Treat for a burger on hiway 26 across from Pioneer Park. Pine Theater is just like yesteryear showing current flicks and concessions $2 or under.

IF THIS PROPERTY IS ALREADY BOOKED, an alternate lake house property may be available. If you can't find the dates you're after ask about this.

What a fabulous place. If you want peace and quiet, wonderful views and wildlife, then this is the place for you. It was certainly the place for us. We loved sitting on the porch, absorbing the view, watching the wildlife (birds, rabbits, deer, lizards, ground squirrels) and having a relaxing beer or glass of wine. The cabin was spotless, well equipped, attractive and comfortable. We had days out to Bend, Sisters and the John Day Fossil Beds - all well worth a visit - but we could happily have spent all our time at the cabin. The only thing that I could criticise was that the bedrooms upstairs got very hot - the weather was in the 90s when we were there - and without air conditioning it was a little uncomfortable, but downstairs did remain cool. I would recommend this house to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Thank you to the owner for giving us the opportunity to stay here, and also for your help in reuniting us with the belongings which we accidentally left behind.

The house was amazing! It's so beautiful and relaxing. You have to pinch yourself because you think it's a dream! We hiked, wakeboarded and wakesurfed all weekend. You can leave your boat and trailer at prineville reservoir resort. Great little marina! Dont try to take a boat up the the house the road is pretty narrow. We had a wonderful girls weekend. I think we might have to make it an annual trip from now on.

We are so excited for our upcoming long weekend at your place. I cannot even tell you how much we love it there. Every time we stay at the "Ponderosa" it is like a million dollar vacation. Additionally, we get the chance to show your place off to some friends who have only seen fotos and heard our stories so far. So, that is exciting. Sincerest thanks and appreciation - Randy and Melanie

My husband and I have stayed in VRBO Rentals all over the West and in Mexico. This was by far the best property we have rented. The owners are friendly and available if you need them. They have put great care into all aspects of their home. The views are exquisite. The house fits its environment perfectly with its pine moldings, fireplace, western decor, and covered porch. It has very large, single hung windows with 180 degree territorial views.Open them and the the wonderful scents of Juniper and sage flow through the room. All living areas are comfortable and attractive. The night skies are spectacular. There is much to do in the area if you love nature and the friendly small towns nearby. We hope to return again to continue exploring and to enjoy the serenity and peacefulness of this lovely place.

My wife and I held our wedding at the cabin on June 6th 2011 and we couldn't have picked a better place. This little slice of paradise was perfect, the accommodations were excellent and the remote location was beautiful. The owners were great to work with and made it an enjoyable place to stay. We woke up early on the morning of our wedding and layed in bed watching the deer eating their way around the cabin than we made our way down stairs and enjoyed a cup of coffee from the front porch with a view that is truly amazing. We could not have picked a better place to hold our wedding we had a great experience and look forward to many return trips.

This property and cabin was really beautiful and well kept. Very accurate to the photos. Our only complaints would be that the owner showed up on our first morning to work on the hot tub. We were excited to come to this cabin because it is so secluded and private but it didn't feel quite as uninterrupted as we had hoped. The wi fi was not working during our stay and the owner emailed us to let us know that he and worker would be arriving early on our last morning to fix it. Even though they did not have to enter the house, it was still another disruption. Our communication prior to our visit with the owner was great and she gave us a two person discount which was very nice. The view is spectacular and the cabin is sweet and comfortable, good heating, great fireplace, and a nice hot tub.

Owner response: We were sorry for the two disruptions. Technical problems happen and not always at the most convenient times! We try to correct issues as soon as they are brought to our attention. When guests are checking in and out back to back it can be difficult. Disruptions at the cabin are very rare as we know our guests are there for quiet and solitude. Please note that we did contact guests and had their consent prior to our visits. Thank you for being understanding and for the kind words about the cabin.

We have stayed here three times and enjoyed each visit more that the last. We have a reservation coming up in April and we can't wait to get going. This cabin is comfortable and relaxing. It is isolated and romantic. The scenery is beautiful in any season. The hot tub was a great addition.. We cannot recommend this place strongly enough for a three or four day get-away. The photos are beautiful, but cannot compare to being there in person! Make a reservation today... you won't be sorry!

Well appointed cabin with the best fire-place this side of the Rockies. Views, silence, stars, coyotes, lakes, hikes, juniper, and a hot tub. Hot tub could be hotter, but whatever it's still a great get away rental.

The four of us came out to rock climb at Smith Rock, we couldn't decide whether to stay near Smith or someplace really cool that was a bit of a drive away......well, we decided on this cabin and we are so glad we did!!! This cabin and it's location was well worth the 40 minute drive to Smith!!! The view was amazing and the stars at night were so spectacular! The cabin is very well represented in the pictures and everything was clean and in proper working order. We called the owner the day of our arrival to ask a few questions, she answered her phone right away and was very helpful to us. We have told friends about this cabin and if we're lucky enough to come back to climb at Smith Rock we are staying here again!

My wife and I spent a three day weekend in this beautiful cabin / home. Well decorated with whimsical cowboy references honoring the ranching legacy. Enormous territorial view, complete privacy and the wonderful smell of juniper everywhere. We drove east and explored the John Day Fossil Bed monuments - Painted Hills and Sheep Rock. Both well worth visiting - especially some of the short hiking trails. Photos are accurate and property is in very good shape.
