Historic 1920's Riverfront vacation cottage in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Located just outside downtown Estes Park on the banks of the Big Thompson River. Picturesque surroundings with towering Ponderosa pines, the Canyon, and the Big Thompson river!
This cottage is for the antique lover! You will be surrounded with antiques from the light fixtures to the 1800's carved wooden bed! There are two bedrooms. The floors are three and a quarter inch wide white oak throughout the cabin. The bathroom is graced with a claw foot tub and shower.
A picnic area is provided in front of the cottage beside the river. The Big Thompson River is very wide at this point and there is even a small island in the middle right in front of the property. There is a family of ducks living at this point in the river. It is known to be one of the best fly fishing areas too and you have private entry to the river!
Behind the cabin, there is steeper terrain with many rock outcropping, very scenic! A very large rock formation can be found to the right rear of the cabin. Beautiful scenery from every single window.

1920's Riverside Cabin "Seashell River Cabin"
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Estes Park
We chose this beautiful location to buy a cottage as it was next to a large, rushing river and surrounded by towering Ponderosa Pines.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Our property is unique as there are not many original 1920's cottages left in the area. From the light fixtures to the cook stove to the claw foot tub, you won't find another like it!
Owner's Map of Estes Park
I have always dreamed of owning a rental cottage. When I was a child, I used to stay in the deep woods of Northern Michigan. These were the fondest memories of my life. I always adored the historic rental cabins that I saw on my trip. Providing a unique, memorable accommodation to make your vacation even more special has been a lifelong goal of mine. I also teach piano.

My Husband and I had a great time staying at this cabin, it is close to town but private and close to nature. My favorite part was sitting on the deck with my morning cup of coffee watching the sunrise and the animals and birds come out. We used the grill for our meals in even breakfast because it was so nice out there. Would recommend this cabin again (I already did to my Doctor). Our stay was an anniversary getaway.

We were pleased to find the riverview cottage very clean, non smoking, and located a few yards from the Big Thompson River. We were looking for a place for the whole family where we could just do nothing. With the big deck and short distance to town, hiking trails, and site seeing, we found it in this rental. The wife and kids relaxed with books while I spent my mornings and evenings fly fishing. Although the river was EXTREMELY high and fast, with very limited riverfront property boundaries, I was able to catch 20 very nice sized assorted browns and rainbows under the bridge. The smell of pine and the sound of the river put me in a peaceful slumber the 5 nights we were there. We appreciated the personal touches of welcome, such as the pretty flowers and complementary chocolates. Thank you Janet!!

My husband and I had a fabulous time at your cabin. We celebrated his 40th b-day as well as our 10 year anniversary. We rode our bikes around Lake Estes, hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park and had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, The Other Side. The cabin was exactly as described and Janet has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The bear on our porch on Saturday morning was an added bonus as well! I would definitely stay here again!

Loved this cabin. It had everything we could have needed for a home away from home. We had a great time, loved the close location to town, but still very secluded and peaceful. My husband caught a few fish in the river, while I sat on the deck and read. We loved watching all the birds and hummingbirds and enjoyed the little ground squirrels. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cabin to our friends and the owners were great to work with. We hope to come back again sometime. Thank you for sharing your cabin/cottage, so others can enjoy it!

If you are looking for a peaceful retreat from busy Estes Park, this is the place. The cabin is only a couple of miles outside of town, so you can still have easy access to all the shopping and activities but still have peace and quiet as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of the river and birds and the ability to cook out rather than eat out! The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and overall, we had a great experience. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate our every need. We highly recommend Roaring River Cottage!

We loved our stay at the Roaring River Cabin. The boys loved climbing over the rocks and we loved hearing the sounds of the river right nearby. It was close enough to Estes Park to be able to see the sights there and to go on some day hikes to RMNP. The cabin was so charming and it provided us with such a wonderful time on our vacation. The owners were very friendly and helpful too.

This is a wonderful cabin to get away from it all and yet be minutes away from downtown and golf courses. The river is great and I really enjoyed my morning qigong and meditation along the banks. We had a great time and would love to come back.

We stayed 4 nights in August, 2009 in this comfortable cottage by the Big Thompson River. The large deck is a great place to relax and it was wonderful to fall asleep each night to the sound of rushing water. The cabin was close enough to Estes Park for convenience, but far enough away to give us a secluded feeling. The beds were very comfortable - something we haven't always found in a vacation rental.

I felt that this was a great place to get away from it all. Quite setting off the road - the river is right there for you....especially if you like fly fishing; or, if you just want to relax. I also like the fact that central Estes Park was only 5 minutes up the road. It was the best of both worlds.
