Honey's Retreat is a beautiful, light and bright, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, Tudor-style home in the well known town of Carmel-by-the-Sea. It is truly a stunning and romantic setting.
This charming, two-story home invites you into the warmth of French Country furnishings. The entry, large living room, and dining room have beautiful hardwood floors. There is a gas burning brick fireplace for cozy evenings on cool nights. You also have a peek view of the ocean and Point Lobos from the living room and upstairs bedroom.
If you must stay in touch there is Wi-Fi internet access.
The front deck has a view of the ocean as well as the forest. The deck off the dining room is great for lounging and cooking on the barbecue grill provided for your use and pleasure. There are TVs in the Master, second bedroom and living room. The dining room is furnished with a French Antique table that extends and seats two to eight people comfortably. French Doors in the dining room lead to the deck and the private garden and patio.
Unlike most houses in Carmel with tiny rooms, our home has a huge Master bedroom suite with a new, extremely comfortable, California king-size bed, beautiful antique chests and mirrored wall closets. The very large master bath has two sinks, a large stall shower and a separate tub. There is a TV and DVD allowing you to lounge all day watching your favorite movies without leaving the bedroom.
Upstairs there are two other bedrooms, one with a comfy, queen bed and the other with one twin and one double bed. The second charming bathroom has a tub/shower.
The best we saved for last. Only 4 blocks or a 6-minute walk to the heart of town where you will find unique shops, beautiful art galleries, and excellent restaurants. To go to the beach is only a short, 12 block walk. A great way to get exercise without ever getting in your car. In Carmel Valley nearby, there are many magnificent wineries open for tastings and fabulous restaurants. AND don't forget your golf clubs! There are more than 20 courses to enjoy, including famous Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and Spyglass. There is also a wonderful, Farmer's Market on Alverado Street in Monterey every Tuesday afternoon. The market features international cuisine as well as all the delicious, local produce.

There are numerous special events, such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Bach Festival, Concourse D'Elegance, AT&T Golf Tournament, to mention just a few. CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you have to cancel your reservation 60 days prior to scheduled arrival, the deposit will be forfeited unless the property is re-booked for the same dates and rate. Full amount is due 30 days prior to arrival. All other cancellations will be subject to a $50 fee.

Why the Owner Chose Carmel By the Sea
Carmel by the Sea is a very special place to me. It is a place that is not only a beautiful environment. It has history, unusual architecture, an incredible beach and coastline, plus it attracts interesting people from all over the world who appreciate the arts, fine dining, the wine country, the shopping, the wharf and the famus Monterey aquarium, and all the wonderful things this charming town has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Private Home
We enjoy walking the 12 short blocks to the beach and the 4 blocks to town for the restaurants, shopping, and all the beautiful galleries. We are only 10 minutes from Monterey, about the same to Carmel Valley, and a little longer to Big Sur and Point Lobos State Park which has hiking trails and wonderful vistas.
We enjoy our quiet time and peacefulness in the garden and back patio which is private.

We are Sue Freeman and John Hancock, owners of Honey's Retreat. We have been married 11 years ago after meeting in Big Sur, California.
I am originally from Atlanta, GA. and moved to CA. in 1987. John is originally from Bozeman, Montana. We have 7 adult children between us and just had our 8th grandchild We presently live in Laguna Beach where I have lived for 21 years. People ask why we named our cottage Honey's Retreat. Honey is my southern nickname given to me by my grandchildren.
I picked Carmel when my daughter LISA chose to live in Monterey after losing her home in the Malibu Fire. I thought it would be nice to own a vacation home that I could use as well as rent. We would be able to visit Lisa and my granddaughter Camille. A year later my daughter and her family moved to Paris, France. As much as I love France I am not buying a home there! MORAL OF STORY: don't follow your children.
Living in Laguna Beach we are very blessed to have properties in 2 beautiful places.
