  • An EXCELLENT Choice!

"I spent a most relaxing week alone in this wonderful home. Clean, comfortable (good bed in master bedroom), good location and a very diligent caretaker, Javiar, who speaks English very well. This alone is worth a "star" to those who have limited Spanish skills. The "Big Creek" area, where the home is located, is the perfect distance from town---only 5 minutes away in a taxi. You don't need to call a taxi; just start walking on the main road (2 minutes walk from house) and one will come along. This area is beautiful for walking--lovely beaches and amazing, bountiful flora. (And yes, you frequently hear the "Howlers"--a most ferocious sound from such small monkeys!!) An added plus is that there is a pretty overwater restaurant within walking distance (Tortuga Resort). I never used the air-con as there are adequate windows and many ceiling fans to "catch" the cooling sea breeze. The elevated deck/outdoor living room is BUG FREE!! Again, bless those ceiling fans! The master bedroom has excellent air ventilation and a good mattress, insuring a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed (except condiments and spices)--good quality appliances in proper working order. Honestly, this house is SO comfortable that you might have trouble making yourself go explore!"

  • Great Place to Stay!

"I think Bocas Condos is the best place I have stayed in Bocas. I have been in Bocas since 2004 and Bocas Condos is by far the safest, cleanest, best appointed place I know. The owner was absolutely delightful and efficient. Great communication and service. The condo itself is very well maintained, extremely comfortable. It is bright and cheery and nicely decorated. Plenty of closet, storage space. Nice bathroom and kitchen. Extremely comfy sofa bed and lounge chair. Great for short stay and long term stays. Location can't be beat. Thoroughly enjoyed it!"

  • Absolutely Enchanting!!!

"This CLEAN & COMFORTABLE casita is perched on a small hill surrounded by it's own private park. Beautifully terraced and landscaped, one feels like they are in their own private kingdom! Flocks of white egrets fly gracefully through the little valley, butterflies flutter about, the occasional toucan squawks and one catches glimpses of color from the many small multi-hued birds in the area. The sloth stayed in a tree near the terrace for 2 weeks---what a show!! There were fireflies in December--so charming! I stayed, alone, for 46 nights and was not the least bit bored. Definitely a SAFE location, too! The master bedroom bed is comfortable, hot water situation is so-so and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and full sized appliances. It is about a 40 minute walk to town (gorgeous), but there are "hop on" mini-buses (50 cents) and taxis ($4). The caretakers and workers are all just lovely people and will help you in any way they can--best if you speak some Spanish, as no English is spoken. I suggest a stay of, at least, a week or two so that you may truly enjoy all that this enchanting valley has to offer. Many restaurants and stores to chose from. The only possible downside is the internet situation (which the owner plans to rectify in March, 2015). If you MUST have strong, dependable, constant access--well, this might not be the place for you. I suggest checking with the owners for an update. The owner was most helpful and easy to work with--quick with replies to any and all questions. This is definitely a TWO THUMBS UP property. Should you chose this property, you will be THRILLED with your choice. Really!"

  • A Wonderful Stay!

"I just came back from Volcan, where I spent a week with my family in the Quetzal house and had a wonderful time!!! The house is fully equipped (kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, bedding...) clean, spacious, with a beautiful garden. It is very private too and Mr. Dirk (the owner) and his staff are always available to assist you whenever you need it. Our stove had some problems and it was inmediately replaced for a new one! We love to visit Volcan since we used to live in Chiriqui and having the opportunity to stay in such beautiful houses is a dream come true!!"

Panama Travel Tips

Getting to Panama Vacation Rentals

The Tocumen International Airport in Panama City is located not far from the city center. Because of the rapid expansion of the city in recent decades, roads and traffic can be particularly chaotic and you need to allow for additional time to get to and from the airport. Panama City Airport hosts most major North American, South American and European Airlines. There are regular daily scheduled flights that link Panama City with other major cities in the United States and neighboring countries. If you are traveling to a region outside of Panama City such as Bocas Del Toro, you will need to get a domestic connection from the Marcos A. Gelabert Regional Airport. This is the airport that hosts most regional flights to the rest of Panama. In Panama, the best way to get around is by taxi. Car rental is not recommended unless you are traveling in more remote areas.

Panama Travel Attractions

The Panama Canal is a major engineering feat and one of the country’s biggest attractions. You can visit the Miaflores Visitors Center and join a guided tour explaining the history, construction and modern-day operations of the canal. Then while enjoying lunch or a cup of coffee at the restaurant, you can watch the locks operating and see the ships passing through. Half-day and full-day cruises on the canal will take you through a number of locks.

Panama City has a number of interesting landmarks and museums. Most are open throughout the year and provide interesting and unique insights into Panama’s history and culture. Unfortunately, not all museums have both English and Spanish transcriptions on their exhibits so it is sometimes useful to have a Spanish-speaking guide with you. The Old City is known as the Panama-Viejo. This is original site of the first settlement in Panama. The city was once a base for Spanish conquests but was destroyed by fire in 1671 when it came under attack of the famous English pirate Henry Morgan. The historical heart of Panama City is the Casco-Viejo. Here, you can see some colonial architectural masterpieces. Browse the shops and enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the street cafés.

The Bocas Del Toro Archipelago is a group of islands that is a marine paradise. Home to the first nature reserve in Panama, the islands offer a quiet retreat where you can forget all about corporate city life for a while. There are excellent diving and snorkeling on the islands. Many have great beach breaks and are popular surfing spots. Birdwatching is a favorite pastime and you can spend many leisurely hours on the beachfront.

Stylish Comforts at Panama Beach Houses

If you want a truly relaxing vacation then rent one of the beach houses in Panama. Enjoy a quiet rural ambience and have a vacation where you can put your feet up and do whatever you please. Stroll down to the local restaurant for lunch and enjoy a home-cooked seafood meal. In the evening, you can enjoy sundowners on the deck as the sun sets behind you. The homes are either cozy cottages or more spacious homes depending on your rental requirements. Living areas are comfortable and rooms are tastefully furnished.

Seasons to Visit Bocas Del Toro Vacation Rentals in Panama

The dry season in Panama occurs between February and April and again between September and October. This coincides with the more popular tourist season. In general, Panama experiences a year-round warm tropical climate with average annual temperatures around 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
