  • Perfect Location, Fun Experience!

"After six days in Salem and Nantucket for a mini, 50-year reunion with two of my wife's college friends and spouses, we and one of the college friends decided to spend a few days in Boston, as we'd never visited there before. Requiring two rooms, we found conveniently located hotels too pricey, but a neighbor of ours mentioned they stayed on a Boat & Breakfast in Boston several years ago and thought it was great. Despite being in our early 70s, we're still adventuresome and decided let's see what's available on VRBO and give it a try. "The Golden Slipper" suited our needs perfectly with its very convenient location at Lewis Wharf, easy walking distance to the Aquarium, restaurants and to walking the Freedom Trail with it's many interesting attractions. Accommodations aboard were excellent with two staterooms -- a very comfortable king bed for my wife and I, and a queen bed stateroom for our friend. Both had their own baths -- ours was even fitted with a small bathtub/shower. The galley and lounge area were comfortable and had ample seating for six on this 40-foot vintage Chris Craft. Gretchen, the boat owner was very helpful and accommodating in our initial and subsequent emails and had her manager Susan meet us at the wharf lobby. She helped us with our luggage and explained the workings of the galley, baths and other necessary information and requirements for our three-night stay. The refrigerator had juices, milk, breakfast bars, fruit and cream cheese for the two varieties of bagels provided. Plenty of coffee and tea were also available. We bought cereal and enjoyed breakfasts outside aft on deck chairs and a settee -- and again for cocktails in the evening. We walked to restaurants for our dinners -- all within 10-minutes or less. Great location for the North End's many Italian restaurants! We also enjoyed the Chart House and Legal Seafood. At our ages, hauling two pieces of luggage each (enough for 9 days away) was not the easiest in getting from the wharf lobby, down to the boat and particularly into the boat, but we made the most of it and had fun doing it. All in all we enjoyed our stay aboard and recommend it. Boston is a wonderful city and "The Golden Slipper" is a great place to stay!"

  • Nice, convenient location for Boston sight seeing

"We enjoyed a long weekend in Boston, traveling with our 2 teenagers. The accommodations were more than adequate for our needs. The futon and beds were comfy, bedding and towels were nice. The kitchen supplied things we needed. The WiFi was fast and reliable. The shower was a bit quirky (we are all over 5'8") and had to bend our heads a bit so as to not hit our heads on the wall that slanted down. Our visit coincided with a heat wave (we live in the south and are used to heat and humidity) and found that the living area/kitchen didn't really cool that well. A fan would have been nice but we were fine. Our communication with the owner was fantastic. She was quite helpful in providing information to us. Just wish we could have met her! Perhaps another visit. The location was really great for getting to the subway, walking to stores, restaurants, etc. We would definitely stay again."

  • Wonderful Stay!

"If you are thinking of spending anytime in the Boston area, you MUST stay here! The location is incredibly convenient. Yes, the train station is very close by but driving into Boston or any of the other close by attractions is very easy. We spent time in Plymouth, Boston, Kennebunkport & Quincy. Very easy access. Loved walking to Main St. in the morning for bagels or donuts & grabbing dinner at night. Traveled with our goldendoodle so the fenced in back yard was a plus. If you need doggie day care, Dogwood Cottage is just down the street. Greg (the owner) was great to work with & we would definitely recommend this property!"

  • Great Location

"The location of this condo is outstanding! We have been to Boston before and everything we wanted to see and do was in easy walking distance or the T is close by. The information provided by the owner is accurate. While the unit is relatively small, it still easily and comfortably accommodated us and our two adult sons. The owners provide excellent detailed information on locating, accessing, and staying here. We would stay there again."
