Had a wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time here over Thanksgiving week. The views were absolutely beautiful. Sunrise to sunset, it never gets old.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating as we didn't know we had to bring our own linens and towels. Luckily they had some we could use.

The Ocean Mist is a great hang out with nice people who work there and great food! The little convenient store down the road came in very handy and the people there were nice as well.

We will definitely be back...

Thank you for a nice stay. Your home is beautiful,

The Wilkes family

Surfer Watching in Spring

  • 5 of 5

We were searching for a location for Spring vacation that was close to everything and close to the water and some local attractions. We were traveling with 2 adult couples along with my teenage children so the location was perfect for all of us.

We met Mike upon arrival and he was extremely friendly and knew the area very well. He even gave us a ride around Matunuck and pointed out some areas of interest to us before we even unloaded our bags. The cottage was clean and cozy, and we enjoyed watching the surfers every morning from the front porch. East Matunuck Beach is walking distance and we enjoyed a nice walk out to the end of the beach with the kids since we had some great weather for April.

There are two bars on the same street, one we walked to a few times called Ocean Mist which is right on the water. Live music was playing on a Saturday and is a local favorite. Local destinations such as Narragansett, Pt Judith are a short drive away, as is East Matunuck Oyster House , where we dined and their food is spectacular.

The cottage is in a great location, with water views in the rear of the house of the ponds and ocean directly across from the front of the house. Mike has had the same renters here yearly and we can understand why, look forward to returning again soon!

This received a 5-star review because you can get lost in the view! We had the pleasure of spending a week in this cottage and could not have been more pleased. The place was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. Mike and Peggy were very friendly and welcoming, gave us the names of places to eat, shop and specifics on the local beaches. The cottage had a spectacular view and the front porch was where we spent time watching surfers and wind surfers, right across the street. We will certainly be back!

Best Family Vacation Location

  • 5 of 5

Every year our family takes a wonderful multi-generational family vacation. For the past three years we have stayed at Mike and Peggy's - and just confirmed our reservation for next year.

Matunuck is the ideal family vacation town and Mike a Peggy's property is quietly and perfectly located between the very busy East Matunuck State Beach and the relaxing South Kingstown Town Beach.

The backyard sports a couple of picnic tables and an outdoor shower that comes in very handy when everyone returns home sandy. This year Mike and Peggy had a new gas grill available on the back deck.

The property is located across the street from a tiny public access to the ocean. When the tide is out, this is a glorious spot to explore the bottom of the ocean and spend some quiet time.

Finally, this review wouldn't be complete without mentioning Tara's Tipperary Tavern (with ocean access), The Original Vanilla Bean (which only has the best ice cream on the planet), the grinders at Seaview Marketplace, and the incredible Matunuck Oytster Bar.

Our entire family is excited for another wonderful week in Matunuck next June.

Fishing,in a Perfect little New England shore town

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying with Mike &Peggy for 4 years, and look forward to coming back.Myself and several members of our striper fishing club, have been enjoying Matunuk and all it has to offer. We can walk to several great fishing locations, and within a half hour drive can reach many prime fishing spots. From Napatree &Watch Hill light, thru Weekapaug,Quony,&Charlston breachways,up to Point Jude light&the Narraganset Shore, the scenery and fishing are spectacular. The south county offers almost unlimited exploring, every year we find new "spots",often with Mike's local knowledge paying off.The Ocean Mist is a short walk to some good food and drink.Great breakfast and markets right in town, with all your shopping needs just a few miles away. Matunuk is a great friendly little town, that is a haven for surf fishers, and surfers alike. The house is cozy and has all the things you need.I'm looking forward to going back
