About Peggy Sarjeant
I am a retired physician and writer and an avid Nordic, Telemark and backcountry skier; I am also a very experienced hiker and backpacker, with countless trips under my belt in the North Cascades and in the canyon country of Utah and Arizona. I live with two large Bernese Mountain Dogs on 20 acres; The house is set among aspen trees and old growth Ponderosa and is a fantastic place to feel as if you have gotten away from everything, yet the town of Winthrop, is only 3 miles away. I have two grown children and one baby grandson, all of whom live in Seattle. I have worked and traveled extensively in Ethiopia, Kenya, `Tanzania, Haiti and Nepal; I lived for three years in northern Germany during the reunification. I currently work in a volunteer position as co-Director of SCOPE, a non-profit that is a partnership between the University of Washington Department of Global Health and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; we work to improve uptake of existing maternal-child health services and HIV/AIDS testing and treatment in northern Ethiopia. I would love to welcome you into my home, perched high above the Chewuch River in the spectacular, 4-season playground of the Methow Valley and would find it a privilege to introduce you to the recreational, community and cultural activities in the valley.

Why Peggy Sarjeant chose Winthrop
Our family backpacked in this area frequently when our children were young and my husband and I had always been 'mountain people.' When we had the opportunity to sell some other property, we immediately began looking for property in the Methow Valley. It took a year, but this particular piece of property, along with it's original small cabin, spoke to us. We undertook a massive remodel/rebuild in 2012, with the intention to eventually live here permanently. And now I do--and I can't imagine anywhere else I would rather be.
What makes this Apartment unique
I fell in love with this property at first sight. The 270 degree views are spectacular at any season of the year, and the access to wild land, wildlife refuges, recreation opportunities and the silence speak to me in so many ways. There is nothing like laying in a hammock beneath the sparkling, clattering aspen leaves on a warm summer afternoon. One particularly special aspect of this property is that it straddles an alpine habitat and a native shrub-steppe habitat--I love the diversity that brings to both the flora and fauna of my little piece of paradise.

Cozy accommodations, fantastic host
I had a great time skiing in the Methow Valley and it was so nice to come back to a cozy spot to rest at the end of the day. Peggy was a fantastic host. My dog Charlotte and I will definitely be back!
Perfect lodging for Nordic skiing in the Methow valley!
The property was clean and had all the amenities my family of 3 would need for a 4-night trip. The host, Peggy, was very accommodating and friendly. The beds were comfortable, and the small kitchenette was quite functional for heating up soup, light meals, etc. We used the wax bench to prep our skis. The location is central to many of the Nordic skiing trailheads in the valley. We would definitely stay here again.
Peaceful getaway in Winthrop
Had a great time at a gorgeous location in Winthrop. Peggy (the owner) is a great host, who makes a beautiful home. The beds were comfortable and access to the apartment on the ground floor was convenient. The grounds were amazing, and from outside there was a view of the valley. We were right around the corner from the town of Winthrop, but yet in quiet.
My new fav place to stay in the Methow!
My son and I recently spent a few days with Peggy in Winthrop, WA and absolutely loved her apartment and the entire vibe of the location. We had everything we needed as Peggy offered thoughtful amenities in a tasteful and comfortable environment. Our 4-legged friend was welcome as well.
We spend quality time hanging out on her lovely deck overlooking the valley. I am already anxious to go back!
This property was perfect for our visit to Winthrop.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner was very gracious and helpful with lots of information about the area. The property was very clean and well appointed. Our every need was met and then some.
Rob was a wonderful guest. Great communication, super respectful and left the place neat and clean. I would welcome him back any time!
Cozy room, Unreal views, close to cute downtown Winthrop
Peggy has a great little place to stay if you're looking for a weekend getaway in Twisp or Winthrop. She was a great host, welcoming us to her home with freshly-baked blueberry muffins. We arrived late in the day, but she was there to show us around and make sure we had everything we needed. Her house is secluded, with an unreal mountain view of the Methow Valley, yet only a couple miles from the cute shops and restaurants in Winthrop. A great home base for the weekend. All basic amenities provided, including coffee and tea.
