This is our home-away-from home in the Heart of Waikiki, at the Hawaiian King Condos, and we are proud to offer it to you. We stay here part of the year, so it is very, very clean and well-maintained.

We are new owners and did an extensive remodel ending May 2017. Our new upgrades include:

o New floor tile throughout entire unit

o Addition of granite-topped kitchen island with four bar stools, new sink and faucet

o Matching granite kitchen counter

o Custom kitchen cabinets, new garbage disposal

o Matching granite computer desk

o King bedroom set with under-bed drawers, matching dresser and tv stand

o Large and comfortable couch with fold-out bed, mattress and mattress topper, along with large matching chair and ottoman

o All light fixtures and ceiling fans (2) were replaced in entire unit, wall sconce lights added, and dimming dining lights above island installed

o All walls and ceilings were re-textured and custom painted

o New baseboards throughout unit

o New toilet, bathroom vanity and fixtures, mirrors

o New artwork and new air conditioner

o Many new amenities, including Tommy Bahama bedding, new mattress covers and sheets, towels, kitchen items, drapes, rugs and beach items

This is without a doubt, one of the most upgraded and stylish units in this building. Plenty of hooks added throughout unit for hanging wet towels and swim suits. Very high-end, yet really comfortable, and well organized.

The desk staff at the Hawaiian King are exceptional. The staff knows all the permanent residents and many return visitors. It is very likely they will greet you by name during your stay.

Many guests do not rent a car for Waikiki City driving because of the dense traffic. If renting a car for a day trip to outer island, you can return after hours to the Enterprise Rental car rental lot across the street. (Mention Hawaiian King to get a discount.) Also, you can rent a car from the airport towards the end of your trip, and then return car to airport when catching your outbound flight, and avoid shuttle/taxi fees. The bus is ~$2.50 to the airport to pick up a rental car.

NOTE: There is a small bar in the front of the building, along with a small convenience store. This condo is in the very back, last end unit, farther away from the bar and street noise. We specifically bought this unit because we stay at Hawaiian King, but wanted a secluded and private condo away from the street.

WHAT YOU WON’T FIND HERE:

•20-30 stories with long elevator times and many stops

•Front desk people who only know a room number

•Crowded swimming pool

•Small, 200 ft. cramped room where you constantly bump into each other and trip over your luggage

•Rubber baseboards

Why Peggy and Tim Kepler chose Waikiki

We have traveled to Oahu yearly on vacation since 2005, and have stayed at many hotels up and down Waikiki and on the Island. The Hawaiian King is the largest and closest condo near the beach, and centrally located, that we could find, for an affordable price.

The building is clean and well-maintained and in the center of Waikiki. We stayed a month at Hawaiian King in Sept 2016 before we decided to purchase. Before our stay in 2016, we read many reviews on VRBO about all the units in the building. Most people love this hotel and have been returning year after year! Our stay, the reviews, and the exceptional desk staff sold us on our decision to buy here. There are only 60 total units, with many permanent owners and returning vacationers, so the setting is more like a neighborhood. You recognize your neighbors and make friends. It just doesn't get any better than having the feeling that you live in Hawaii.

Our home is a wonderful spacious end unit, with extra windows, and a 165 sq. foot private lanai. When you stay at the Hawaiian King, it feels just like you live in Hawaii. We have not had that experience at any other hotel, in the 10+ years that we have been traveling to Hawaii.

We love the island cross breeze. Many days we do not even turn on the air conditioner, but just open up the doors and windows and the amazing breeze flows through. One side of the lanai is shaded entirely by large trees. There are many types of birds chirping and cooing and flying about. Out on the lanai, you feel like you are experiencing the best of what Hawaii has always offered, right outside your room -- island trees, amazing cross winds, and many types of birds.

What makes this condo unique

This is a large end unit, very light and airy, in the interior of the hotel, in the heart of Waikiki. This unit has a washer/dryer in the unit. We stay here ourselves because it's very affordable and close to everything. It's located on the block that is straight across the street from the new Marketplace. There is a small bar in the front of the building, along with a small convenience store. This condo is in the very back, last unit, farther away from the bar and street noise. We specifically bought this unit because we stay at Hawaiian King, but wanted a secluded and private condo away from the street noise.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Peggy & Tim's condo. It was a short walk to the beach & close to all the great shopping & restaurants in Waikiki, yet the complex was on a side street off the main drag so you didn't hear noise & traffic. We loved the quiet, corner unit because of the privacy. It had everything you would need to make your stay really corfortable & we liked the convenience of having a washer & dryer in the unit. Peggy was always available to answer any questions that we would have. We would definitely come back again.

Great, low key Waikiki experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent a week in Peggy and Tim’s Honolulu apartment and had a truly wonderful time. Every element was precisely as they advertised.

First, its proximity to Waikiki Beach - only a 5-minute walk to the beach. It doesn’t get much better than that, unless you stay at a hotel ON the beach, which would cost multiples more. The building is 1 or 2 minutes away from the two main avenues in Honolulu where there are a number of bus lines that are good for accessing shopping and many sightseeing treasures in the Honolulu vicinity such as Pearl Harbor and the Doris Duke home (one of the world’s finest collections of middle eastern art). You do not need a car and, with the exception of renting one for the day to see the rest of the island (highly recommended), I would actually advise against it given the very limited/expensive parking in the vicinity.

The apartment itself was very comfortable, recently renovated (except for the bath) and pristinely clean. It has a good-sized, very well equipped kitchen with an island in the middle of it for eating purposes. We also had access to the apartment complex’s large shared gas barbecue. My husband and I, who are avid cooks, took advantage of both. The furniture, bed and linens were all of high quality and there was plenty of drawer and closet space. All the details and amenities you would want were there and available.

Although there is a wrap around balcony in the back there is not much of a view so we found it more enjoyable to sit by the pool. The pool and the surrounding area were clean and well kept but the pool water was too cool for us – we preferred the ocean. That said, there was more than enough sun to enjoyably sunbathe most of the day by the pool – the sun just didn’t seem to hit the pool long enough to warm it.

I would highly recommend Peggy and Tim’s apartment to anyone seeking a conveniently located, very comfortable apartment in a low key, old style complex.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay in this condo! The condo was clean, well kept, and in the perfect location--just a short walk to the beach, restraunts, and shopping. If I could rate our stay 10 stars I would. 5 stars for the wonderful location and 5 stars to Peggy! Peggy was extremely helpful and quick to respond to answer any questions we had and even guide us to fun things to do on the island. We would stay here anytime!

Good Location, Helpful Service, Nice Amenities

  • 5 of 5

We spent the first half of a week-long trip to Oahu here and this rental had everything we needed (the washer/dryer was especially nice since we only had to bring half the clothes). It's on one of the quieter roads but there are plenty of activities around to keep you busy (and everything is within walking distance). Both the owner and on-site staff were really helpful whenever we interacted with them and we'll definitely check availability here first if we're ever back in the area.

This was definitely a home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was amazing. It not only was clean and had all the amenities but it also was in the perfect location. It was close to shopping, restaurants and so close to the beach. We really had an amazing stay. Peggy was so kind and friendly and helped us with everything. The only downside was the bed..it was one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in which made it hard to get out of every day ;) !!! The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful and got us help with parking when we rented a car for a few days. I miss hawaii so much!!

Great deal in a convenient area

  • 5 of 5

This condo had everything we needed. Having the kitchen staples provided made quick meals a breeze. Full grocery just 2 blocks away. The option of island breeze or air conditioning was welcome. Very little city noise but being right off Kuhio made finding shopping, eating out and access to the beach super easy. Peggy was easy to reach and very helpful.
