Superb Chalet with stunning mountain views, large garden, close to ski lifts

Chalet Roundhouse is a traditional Swiss chalet in Leysin which has five bedrooms, each with its own shower and toilet, three are en-suite and the master bedroom also has a large bathroom with shower. Four of the bedrooms have balconies with breathtaking views towards Villars and Les Diablarets. The spacious lounge seats 10 comfortably with Satellite TV, free access to the internet, and a cosy fire. The dining area opens up to the luxury fitted kitchen and separate study. The chalet has central underfloor heating with continuous hot water.
The ski station is 5 mins walk. In summer the ski lifts are open and give access to magnificent mountain walks. There are a wide range of activities in the village including mountain biking, skating, tennis, horse riding, paragliding and swimming in two sports centres. The Chalet has a large enclosed balcony suitable for small children which leads to a beautiful large flat gardens. Chalet Roundhouse is the perfect choice for families or those seeking to relax. Leysin is only a short train journey to Montreaux, Lausanne, Vevey & Villeneuve on Lake Geneva where there are so many things to see and do. Leysin is also an excellent base to visit many interesting places including Gstaad and Gruyeres. As well as the many things to do in Leysin we recommend you try Lavey - les bains Spa & Thermal Springs. Also only a short drive away is The Aquapark, Switzerland's largest indoor waterpark
Skiing & Snowboarding: The seven resorts of Leysin, Villars, Gryon, Les Diablerets, Les Mosses, Rougemont and Chateau-d'Oex make up the spectacular skiing area of Alpes Vaudoise, the skipass covers all resorts and is even free to under 9s. With 74 lifts and 220km of downhill pistes (135 miles) this must be one of the 'prized areas' for skiers visiting Switzerland. The region is just 115km from Geneva and can be reached in nine hours or less on mainly motorways from Calais. The Bern-Lausanne-Geneva motorway goes right past the 'gateway town' of Aigle and from here you turn off to Leysin or to Villars via Ollon.
Leysin has 17 lifts and a snow park with a half pipe, and ski tours and snow-shoe treks offer skiers and snowboarders ideal opportunities for enjoyment. And there is also a snow sport school, a lit cross-country skiing trail and toboggan run. A round of the Snowboarding World Championships is held in Leysin each year.

250 kilometres of hiking trails, mountain tours and interesting bike tours offer plenty of exercise in the open countryside. Mountaineers find several challenges in the precipitous chalk rock-faces which resemble the Dolomites. The difficult via ferrata at the Tour d'Aï is for experienced mountaineers only.

Chalet Roundhouse

The location of the chalet was best-positioned, neighbouring wonderful views of mountains and nature around you. It is located in an amazing village with nice people, Leysin. We enjoyed sitting in the balcony looking at the view and enjoying the amazing weather. Thanks to the owners who provided us with information about the village and about the country. If we decide to come again, this chalet would be the first in our list. If you are willing to have a wonderful vacation, we recommend you this chalet.

The perfect holiday location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful chalet in picturesque Leysin. It is conveniently located for the many amenities the resort has to offer and provides spacious, meticulously maintained facilities. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully furnished in keeping with the traditional style of a mountain resort. The chalet is extremely comfortable and cosily fitted out with a separate barbecue facility adjacent to the property. It's a delightful place to relax and enjoy a get together with family and friends. The chalet is set in a large garden with has a patio with outdoor dining facilities. The views from the property are stunning and add to the charm of this delightful place.

Wonderful chalet amazing location

Mary and Steve Round's chalet is the best we ever have stayed. Beautifully looked after, with a kitchen that is modern, clean and well equipped. Mary kept in contact with us before the holiday give us helpful advice, information and driving directions. The barbecue hut is a wonderful touch, truly magical on a cold snowy evening. Our children have not stopped talking about that and the rest of the holiday. The location is great, a 5-10 minute walk to the lifts and shops. We booked to go again next year and will probably be returning again and again. A big thank you to Mary and Steve for letting us stay.

Amazing chalet

This wonderful, spacious chalet is in a perfect spot, less than 5 minutes walk from the main ski lifts in Leysin. This was our second stay as we were so impressed with it last year. It's very well-appointed, spotlessly clean, with large comfy sofas and an ample dining area for our party of 10. Three of the five bedrooms are en suite. Lovely bed linen, super warm duvets and large fluffy towels and constant hot water (no cold showers!). The main living area is light and airy with stunning views of the mountains. The chalet owner is warm and charming, with a great local knowledge and happy to answer our questions on best ski school etc. The ski area is perfect for family skiing and we all loved it. So much so, we've booked again for a third year running in 2019!

Spacious, clean and perfect

Very nice, spacious, clean, perfect for up to 10 adults  5 of 5 The ski lifts are within walking distance. The infrastructure (kitchen, bedroom and a lot of bathrooms) is well suited for up to 10 adults. We were a mixed group of adults, kids, toddlers and baby. Some drove skis, others spent a lot of time in the house. The house is very suitable for all different needs. We were particularly impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness that was offered to us by the landlords Steve and Mary Round! We would like to spend more holidays in the Roundhouse! Heerlijk huis in een prachtige omgeving.

Alles verliep optimaal: de communicatie om tot een deal te komen, de info over huis en omgeving en het verblijf was een groot genoegen. We waren met 10 personen (3 generaties) en hebben geweldig genoten van de omgeving, skiën en wandelen. Terug in het huis genoten we van spelletjes, een borrel bij de haard en van de uitstekend geoutilleerde keuken. Alles voldeed aan al onze verwachtingen. Een aanrader dit fijne huis van Steve en Mary.

Perfect location for a family vacation

We had never heard of Leysin but wanted a chalet with atleast 3 bathrooms and regular sized beds. The pictures looked amazing and we decided to go ahead. The instructions to get to the place, to get the key, the folders with all the brochures of the equipment and things to do in the area were so comprehensive, we felt right at home. Equipped with all the conveniences you need and then some, chalet Roundhouse was a delight to stay in. We canceled 3 of our excursions just to spend more time together in the house, on the deck, cooking together and playing board games. Everything was spotlessly clean and in it's right place so was easy to find. I happened to mention to my host that we were missing having a toaster and she had it dropped off through a friend. Now that's showing an extra level of care I was not expecting. Having Hefti sports and the cable car just a stones throw away from the chalet meant that we were in the heart of the action, even though it felt as if we were in a remote place. Couldn't ask for a better location. Thanks Mary and Steve for amazing holiday. It was my mother's 75th birthday and she is totally thrilled. Leysin was a discovery. We shall recommend it to all our friends who tend to tread the beaten path.

Amazing Chalet and Amazing view

The house is huge and spacious. It has all the amenities required and more. Neighborhood is scenic with shops and commercial establishment in walking distance. Marry the owner, is always there to help you. In details: We loved staying at this beautiful, modern, and very comfortable chalet. It is well appointed, with everything one could need. The bathrooms quite nice, with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The kitchen is well equipped, and it was nice to be able to do a load of laundry after kids playing. The wrap around deck is wonderful, with endless views of mountains.

sehr schön, geräumig, sauber, perfekt geeignet für bis zu 10 Erwachsene

Die Skilifte sind gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Die Infrastruktur (Küche, Schlafzimmer und jede Menge Badezimmer) ist gut geeignet, um mit bis zu 10 Erwachsenen Urlaub zu machen. Wir waren eine gemischte Gruppe aus Erwachsenen, Kindern, Kleinkindern und Baby. Einige fuhren Ski, andere verbrachten viel Zeit im Haus. Für alle verschiedenen Bedürfnisse ist das Haus sehr gut geeignet. Wir waren vor allem beeindruckt von der Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft, die uns von den Vermietern Steve and Mary Round entgegengebracht wurde! Wir würden gerne weitere Ferien im Roundhouse verbringen!

The surrounding area and local village are delightful, within 5 minutes walk to all local amenities and bars, restaurants and ski/chairlifts. We will certainly return as soon as possible! Magnifique chalet avec des chambres spacieuses. Pièce de vie agréable, la table est un peu petite pour 10 personnes. Magnifique vue et ensoleillement. Tout le confort est la et même plus (savons, linges de bain, linges de maison, équipements) Un chouette barbecue pour une soirée un peu enfumée mais très sympathique. Seul bémol l'accueil a été difficile pour mes beaux-parents qui ne parlent pas anglais (nous n'avons pas pu être présent car notre fille était hospitalisée) Propriétaires adorables

A brilliant stay in a wonderful chalet

We spent a week in the chalet for a family gathering this summer. This is the first time we've visited the mountains during the summer and we will definitely be coming back! What an action packed week we had - the kids hired mountain bikes, tried their hand at a number of watersports on Lake Geneva, and even went rock climbing in the village. We also enjoyed mountain walks and visited a few of the local vineyards. The chalet itself is beautiful, in a stunning location with uninterrupted views over the valley and mountains which we enjoyed from the terrace. Inside, it was more than spacious enough for our group of 8. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms clean and modern. We've stayed in many chalets in the past and this was by far the best. I would thoroughly recommend the chalet for anyone looking to enjoy the mountains - we're all looking forward to returning next summer.

woderful chalet

Leysin provided us with a week of fond memories, The Chalet was perfect with stunning views. We loved the lounge with the log burning fire. It was only a short walk to the shops for fresh bread in the morning.We are looking forward to returning to the Chalet in the summer and to spend sometime on lake Geneva.Also it is a short journey to Montreaux and Villeneuve. We were provided with very helpful details regarding the Chalet from Steve and Mary which completed a very enjoyable holiday.

Fantastic Family Chalet

We have just returned from a fantastic week's stay at the Chalet Roundhouse which provided a home from home for four adults and five children aged from 2 to 7 years old - it was a real bonus to have CBeebies on the TV! The chalet is comfortably furnished and well equipped and has everything you could possibly need for a week away. It has a large open plan living/dining/kitchen room which was a great place for everyone to be together after a day's skiing. There is a sunny deck that stretches along two sides of the house with fantastic views and overlooking a large level garden where our attempts to build an igloo are probably still visible! It is a short walk uphill from the chalet to get to the lifts which was a little hard work with kids and ski gear in tow - I think I will search out the ski lockers next time! The ski area is not huge by any means but it provided great entertainment for all of us for the whole week. It should also be pointed out that there are also a number of other ski areas available on the same lift pass but we never felt the need to venture beyond Leysin. The lift pass is free for under 9s and the saving went towards paying the Swiss Ski School. The children all enjoyed their time in ski school and made good progress. They were very proud to collect their badges in a presentation ceremony with the instructors held on the Thursday evening. The chalet is easy walking distance to a supermarket and a couple of conveniently located bars to duck in on the way back with the shopping! For the grande finale to the week we went to the toboggan park which was great fun for the over 5s (and dad) and comes highly recommended. Many thanks to Mary for all her top tips and advice on the local area, we were all very sad to leave Chalet Roundhouse and Leysin and very much hope to return one day :)

Superb holiday

Fantastic location, less than 5 minutes walk from the lifts. Enjoyed large, sunny balcony especially the glass of mulled wine after a long day on the slopes. Skied mostly in Leysin and Les Mosses which was beautiful, then one day visited Villars and Les Diablerets and another day in the Portes du Soleil for exciting variety. Watched the paragliders land in front of the chalet- we'll do that next time. Chalet Roundhouse was superb in all ways. We'll be back!

Wonderful Stay

We have family in town and the chalet was a great gathering spot. The views are incredible and the sunny deck was a lovely spot for enjoying meals or a glass of wine with family and friends. The kitchen was well equipped and had more than enough plates, utensils and glasses for a dinner with a large group in the dining room. The beds were very comfortable and the shower water pressure was great. It was very quiet except for the lovely sound of cowbells in the distance. We walked to the village for shopping or eating at one of the many restaurants. It is a very short walk to the ski lift. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the house. We hope to come back in the future

Fantastic Chalet

Fantastic Chalet with amazing views over the Valley and Dents de Midi. It is better than described in the photos. The large open plan kitchen/dining/living room give a spacious feel and made it ideal for a large group. We had grandparents, grandchildren, and parents in a party of eight and found it very easy to live in. We cooked our own food every night and found the kitchen more than adequate for roast dinners or snacks. The rooms were good with comfy beds and those with on suite had excellent showers etc. The chalet is 5 minutes walk from the main ski station and there are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants in the village nearby. Leysin is thoroughly undiscovered by British tourists which has its advantages (!) however being Switzerland most people speak English. The village is lovely with excellent facilities such as a 25m swimming pool, tobogganing park and ice rink. The skiing is small compared to the bigger Alpine resorts however it was fine for family skiing with young kids. There is plenty of off piste of you hit the weather right and there is a snowboard Park at the top with a smaller one for kids which ours enjoyed. The Ecole de Suisse ski school was good and the instructors were great with our kids. The weather was like spring when we were there and so the large balcony and veranda were well used for sunbathing. The chalet was very clean, modern and well maintained with very little signs of wear. The owners were excellent and provided lifts to the local railway station when we left and also put up cot at the last minute when we arrived late having forgotten to ask for one in advance. I would recommend Chalet Roundhouse to anyone with a large group.

Excellent!

This is a great place to stay. The Chalet is in excellent conditions, well equipped and well maintained. Very spacious and comfortable. It is really close to the lifts/telecabin and has a nice flat garden for the kids to play. We would definitely love to come back!

Wonderful Family Holiday Breakaway

This is the second time we stay in Round House Chalet. The Chalet is specious and consisted with all the equipments you require in a house. Steve & Mary Rounds are wonderful to deal with and very helpful. Leysin is the oxygen of the Alps. A quiet village with friendly people. The mountains view and the scenery are stunning. Myself and the family we love Leysin and we always keep visiting Leysin. From Leysin you can visit many other places in Europe. There many activities you can do with your family in Leysin such as; mountain biking, skating, tennis, horse riding, paragliding and swimming. If I visit Leysin, the Round House Chalet will be my first choice to stay in.

Ski Holiday February 2013

The chalet is beautiful and the location is both stunning and convenient for the village and the ski lifts. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cater for the 8 in our party. We made good use of the log fire which made the spacious chalet feel very cosy after a long days skiing. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and well furnished with lovely bathrooms and gorgeous views from every window. Steve and Mary were great to deal with and did all they could to provide info and help to make our trip a holiday to remember. We drove to the chalet, stopping in Dijon en route and found the drive round Lake Geneva to be breathtaking. Even though we had the cars with us, they were not needed once in resort as everything is a gentle stroll away.

Ski Holiday February 2013

My family and friends had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful chalet. There was plenty of space and the chalet was well equipped with everything we needed.The location in the village is perfect as we were able to walk to the ski lifts and also to the shops for provisions. Perfect Location

We have stayed a number of times in Chalet Roundhouse over the last 3 or 4 years. The location of the chalet with amazing views over the surrounding mountains, the ease of access to the village and the comfort which the chalet affords keeps us coming back again and again. We've already booked our next trip there. The Chalet is easily accessible by car or public transport and is only a couple of minutes walk from the lifts. We usually visit off season and the peacefullness of the village at this time is perfect for getting away from the hectic pace of daily life. I'd highly recomend the chalet to anyone thinking of visiting Leysin. Dave.

Perfect chalet in fantastic location

Our short break was fantastic from start to finish. Excellent help and directions from the chalet owners and easy journey (flight to Geneva and train to Leysin). The station, the ski lifts and shops are a short walk from the chalet so a car is not necessary. The chalet itself is immaculate with good sized rooms, amazingly comfortable beds, and everything that you need for your stay - even satelite TV with UK stations! We have had numerous chalet holidays in the past but this is probably the best yet. We will be back. Thanks Steve and Mary.

We absolutely love the position of our Chalet as it is a very short walk to the ski lifts and we can walk into town

What makes this property unique

Beautiful Chalet with open fireplace. Very close to lifts and ideal if you wish to return for lunch. Leysin is such a friendly village and there are so many activities to keep us all busy. We can travel so easily to Montreux and Lausanne on Lake Geneva. There are thermal Springs just a short drive away and the largest indoor water park in Switzerland is nearby. We are so lucky to have a beautiful Swiss Chalet and the large wrap around balconies to enjoy the mountain views.
