Lódão Cottage @ Horta Vermelha | experience Earth.
We have this and only another similar cottage in the farm, all private, booked one at a time during summer for exclusive use of all spaces, around the cottages and in the farm.
You will immediately feel Horta Vermelha’s energy, character and personalised detail. From salvaging used or old furniture, maintaining the whitewash and original pigments, to keeping the Mediterranean weeds instead of planting an artificial high-maintenance lawn, dedicated effort and care were put by both Sónia and João.
The result is a genuine diversity of colours, textures, organic and authentic housing features, while being connected to all beyond the Horta.
The surrounding space offers inviting spots under great cork and fig trees, the Japanese Medlar, amidst the century-old olive grove, the old natural spring under the oldest walnut tree, or the most appreciated eco-friendly refreshing tank. You may walk up the meadow, scent the wild garlic, the spontaneous lavender flowers, and a multitude of other herbs, while spotting the sheep and cows in the vicinity. You may be lucky and see some other companions up there.
We invite you to take in the richness of the area with independent spirit, at your own pace.

Péssima experiência

A casa é agradável e o sítio também, mas fica por aqui. Se estiver a pensar alugar esta casa, conte com uma arrogância na gestão da reserva por parte dos proprietários e total discrepância no processo de check-in, com entrada de pessoas dentro da casa sem qualquer aviso, e acima de tudo não se surpreenda se, após fazer o check-out, o proprietário decidir cobrar-lhe um extra pela limpeza do local directamente com a plataforma online sem sequer tentar chegar a um acordo com o hóspede. Amadorismo total na gestão da reserva, não havendo nenhuma preocupação com o bem-estar do hóspede nem qualquer jogo de cintura ou flexibilidade para se adaptar. Em relação ao anúncio, dizer também que as fotografias são extremamente enganadoras. A maravilhosa piscina que se vê nas fotografias não passa de um tanque com água gelada e 80 centímetros de profundidade e que está a 200 metros de distância da casa. Não se surpreenda também com a presença de rebanhos de ovelhas espalhados pelo terreno e com o sempre desagradável cheiro a estrume que lhes acompanha. Também não se trata do referido local de retiro, já que há várias casas coladas. No caso de que tenha alugado uma casa de 6 pessoas, prepare-se para partilhar a casa, o terreno e o tanque com os seus vizinhos. Também não recomendo esta casa se tiver mais de 1,75m de altura, já que terá de baixar a cabeça constantemente quando estiver na zona do alpendre à frente da casa. Em resumo, tente arranjar outro sítio onde possa relaxar, ser tratado como um verdadeiro hóspede e se sinta respeitado e não enganado.

Agradavel surpresa

A Horta Vermelha foi uma agradavel surpresa. Adoramos que tenham tido em conta a preservacao da traça original mas tambem os pequenos pormenores decorativos tao unicos da regiao Alentejana. Para quem procura um verdadeiro retiro a localizacao da casa e excelente. Destaque para o exterior da casa, a zona do alpendre e fantastica e perfeita para refeicoes ao ar livre. A propriedade tambem nos surpreendeu bastante pela positiva, nao esperavamos que fosse tao grande. Ainda conseguimos desfrutar do eco-tanque, que tinha sido uma forte razao pela qual decidimos efectuar a reserva na propriedade. No entanto, sentimos que para duas casas era pequeno e que seria bom se no futuro pudessem investir um pouco mais neste aspecto. Por ultimo gostariamos tambem de deixar uma nota de destaque para o acompanhamento dado pela Sofia que nos recebeu da melhor maneira possivel, fornecendo bons conselhos sobre a zona e estando presente na despedida tambem.

Horta Vermelha is fully Licensed and Registered as "Country Cottages/Rural Tourism" with no. 673 RNT, Portuguese Tourism Board.

What makes this property unique

COVID-19:
Following the local national recommendations (from DGS, in Portuguese), we have our Contingency Plan, all important frequent touch points are disinfected, as well as furniture, clothings, etc, in between different guests' stays. We use the recommended disinfectants. Hand-gel and masks are also provided for guests. All staff/personnel uses their equipment for the appropriate cleaning.

The eco-pool is also disinfected between stays.

Due to the pandemic, our decision has been to rent one house at a time, of the two cottages that we have. This means that guests do not share anything with others, and that there is alternate use of the cottages, in between stays.
