Cottage Medio, Cornworthy

Middle Cottage se encuentra en Abbey Road, en el pueblo de Cornworthy, comercializado exclusivamente por Dart Valley Cottages. Fuera del camino de la ruta turística, estamos seguros de que encontrará la ubicación tranquila incluso en pleno verano. Middle Cottage tiene más de 200 años y ha sido completamente renovado a un estándar extremadamente alto que conserva un montón de carácter original mezclado con las comodidades modernas. Desde la parte frontal de la propiedad tiene vistas a los campos y los restos del Priorato del siglo XIII. Cornworthy tiene un pub que se ha abierto recientemente y hay dos brillantes pubs a orillas del río a poca distancia a pie en el pueblo de arroyos en Tuckenhay. Cornworthy se encuentra en el pintoresco valle de Dart, entre Totnes y Dartmouth. Hay paseos encantadores a nivel local y a lo largo de un hermoso tramo del río Dart. Las hermosas costas y playas de los South Hams están a poca distancia en automóvil. Hay un montón de lugares sin restricciones en el estacionamiento de la calle inmediatamente fuera de la propiedad, así como jardines delanteros y traseros para disfrutar.

Alojamiento: La puerta del establo se abre hacia el vestíbulo de baldosas de pizarra con 2 escalones hasta la planta baja de planta abierta. La cocina / comedor a la derecha está bien equipada con lavadora, lavavajillas, vitrocerámica, horno con ventilador y nevera con despensa, microondas, cafetera y tostadora. (Hay un congelador disponible para los huéspedes ubicado en el cobertizo en la parte trasera de la propiedad.) A la izquierda está la sala de estar con un sofá de 3 plazas y un sillón centrado alrededor de la chimenea. Más allá de la chimenea, está el área cómoda con sofá y TV de 2 plazas y lsquo; snuggle 'snuggle'. (El televisor se encuentra en un soporte de pared giratorio, por lo que se puede ver desde la sala de estar o bien ajustado). Las escaleras conducen desde el cómodo.

Arriba: Son los dos dormitorios y el baño familiar. El dormitorio principal tiene una cama de matrimonio de roble enmarcada, muebles y un anexo que puede acomodar fácilmente una cuna de viaje (por favor avise si desea incluir una). El segundo dormitorio tiene un doble estándar y muebles. El baño familiar tiene un suelo de baldosas de pizarra climatizada, inodoro, lavabo y baño con ducha eléctrica.

Afuera: Hay jardines protegidos en la parte delantera y trasera de la cabaña, ambos con áreas de patio y mesas y sillas para que pueda tomar el sol en cualquier momento del día. Ideal para disfrutar de un café y un croissant por la mañana o una cerveza fría o chocolate caliente por la noche. Hay espacio exterior para estacionar y descargar, y en el estacionamiento de la carretera a solo unos metros de distancia.

Cerca: El pub del pueblo ha vuelto a abrir y se encuentra a 5 minutos a pie. Un buen paseo hasta el pueblo vecino de Tuckenhay encontrará 2 excelentes pubs a orillas del agua o un corto trayecto en automóvil hasta el pueblo de Dittisham, donde encontrará un pub con una tienda del pueblo y un segundo pub junto al río. Totnes está a menos de 2 minutos en auto, al igual que las playas de Blackpool Sands y Slapton Sands.

Middle Cottage, Cornworthy

The communication and key arrangements are good, and as soon as you open the door you notice the welcoming tray with info, tulips and cookies! But If there are any downsides to this excellent rural cottage, they would simply be that parking is on road, nearby, and requires a manoeuvre to get close in - it’s a bit awkward. Even so, the space was always available when I stayed. Also for visitors with any mobility difficulties, the only toilet (with cosy underfloor heating) is up the steep stairway on the first floor. That said, this really is a fantastic retreat which ticks all the boxes and more; the attention to detail and standard of furnishings throughout is a cut above. This old cottage is lavishly refurbished. We’ve had a most comfortable and enjoyable short stay.

Comfortable cottage, beautiful views in a lovely village

Everything about Middle Cottage is fantastic! The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and has all the mod cons for a relaxing stay but has retained all the character of a 200 year old cottage. We loved sitting on the sumptuous leather sofa in front of the old fireplace and watching the sheep in the fields opposite and in the evening, settling down in the cozy snug. The cottage is very light and airy. We didn't need to touch the heating system as it was programmed to come on and just take the chill off in the mornings and evenings which was fine. The bathroom has underfloor heating and a good hot shower. The bedrooms are very well furnished - so nice to have a dressing table, plenty of drawers and a wardrobe and not a hanging rail as we often find in holiday properties. There's even a lovely armchair in a corner of the main bedroom ideal to sit and read in. Outside, there are several lovely seating areas to choose from - we loved the pretty private spot under the tree on the terrace at the back of the cottage with the bluebells and primulas in flower and enjoyed having lunch in the cobbled front garden overlooking the hills opposite and listening to the bird song. Extra touches such as milk, biscuits and flowers gave the cottage that personal touch. We had no problems parking in the lane which is less than few minutes walk from the cottage. We also walked down to the village pub for a very tasty meal and were pleased to see it busy with friendly locals. We only had 3 nights at the cottage so we can't wait to go back to stay for longer it was so lovely!

A very pleasant stay.

My wife and I were impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the fixtures and fittings. Middle Cottage is ideal for a get away from it all holiday. Dart Valley Cottages were efficient and communicated well. I would certainly recommend and rebook with them.

A fabulous few days

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Middle Cottage and when we opened the front door were very pleasantly surprised at how much more spacious it was than it appeared from the outside! The cottage was very clean and well equipped and we enjoyed walks to both the Hunters Lodge and Maltsters Arms (the food was delicious at both) on a couple of evenings. The cottage is well sited for exploring the South Hams and my only regret is that we didn't have time to stay for longer!

A beautiful, comfortable cottage in a gorgeous part of Devon.

We had a lovely 4 day break in Middle Cottage and it was so comfortable and cosy! We lit the real fire in the evenings, which was a real treat. It's easy to find as a postcode is given, and there is parking on the road just a few metres from the cottage. It is situated in a quiet little village and not too far from a couple of really nice pubs, and there is lots to do in the area. Our favourites were visiting the small, but amazing, museum in Dartmouth, and Agatha Christie's summer home, Greenway, which has beautiful views down to the River Dart. Just one thing to bear in mind is that there is only one bathroom for the two bedrooms (as described) and the shower is in quite a big bath with a high side so may be difficult to get in and out of for people with mobility issues. Overall, it's a beautiful, comfortable cottage in a lovely part of Devon.

A beautiful Devon cottage family holiday

Middle cottage was a brilliant base for a half term autumn break with our 5 and 2 yo. It was very well appointed with everything you could think of needing. The cottage was always warm and cosy, especially so with the wood burner going. The location was very quiet and tranquil with views across the open countryside and is in a great position for visiting Totnes, Dartmouth and beyond. It is a 10-15min from the nearest A road and we found the drive in and out quite stressful, especially with a van and at night, the roads are very narrow and steep at points The master bed was very comfy and overall we slept well. The second bed isn’t quite as comfortable but still okay. Overall we would highly recommend a stay at Middle Cottage :)

Lovely area but a tired cottage

Cornworthy is a pretty village and it’s beautifully located for walking and cycling around this hilly part of Devon. The cottage is part of a terrace of cottages. There are regular comings and goings past the front door from the other cottages, and the cottage looks out over a building site which rather ruins the otherwise bucolic feel of the area. The cottage is quite sweet but ruined by a very budget makeover. Everything has been done ‘on the cheap’ which isn’t a great feeling for guests. Foam cushions, foam pillows, polyester bedlinen, electric shower, mini dishwasher. Everything has the feeling of something refurbished three or four decades ago. It’s adequate, but dated. There’s nothing wrong with this if that’s what you are lead to expect, but we were sold something better and were disappointed.

What a cottage!

The cottage is absolutely amazing and very cozy. Furnished to a very high standard with some lovely touches and more kitchen utensils then you'll ever need. Makes a change to have pint glasses and knives that are sharp! Everything works as it should do with nothing broken or intermittent. There is a comprehensive welcome folder to help out and explain the working of the place, speedy broadband was also very helpful. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Scones were delicious! Thank you!! Such a lovely base to reach fantastic beaches and pretty villages. Meal at local pub was lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming. Dittisham, Dartmouth & Salcombe are all within easy reach and Totnes has everything you need for shops etc. The walk to Tuckenhay and the village pubs is very worthwhile. Just remember it's uphil on the way back though.. We are already thinking about our returning holiday.

A lovely cottage let down by poor customer service

Our stay at this lovely cottage was let down by poor preparation of the property and customer service. There was no heating on when we arrived and no means of turning it on, nothing in the fridge (no shop in the village to buy milk) and as we later realised no hot water. At the time there had been snow so the place felt cold and bleak - I asked for more logs (5 provided) and was told where to buy them… When I complained about the hot water/heating I was given instructions on how to turn it on and given the list of other things that should have been prepared ahead of our arrival (most of which hadn’t happened). Is this my job when renting a property? Despite comments on the heating no one turned up to put it on. I was made aware that this was due to the owners failing to prepare it but the fact is it was a poor experience and I don’t feel was handled well or appropriately by Dart cottages

Dear Neil We are disappointed to read your review. The owners normally do their own housekeeping but were away so we had a stand in housekeeper who was supposed to turn on the hot water and put milk in the fridge. Everything else for the cottage was fully prepared including the starter pack of logs. Unfortunately the stand in housekeeper missed the job despite various communication from us as agents and the owners. They were incredibly sorry. We equally apologised to you and worked with you to turn the button on for the hot water as quickly as possible so that the hot water would then heat up (Thankfully it does not take too long). The heating was actually turned on already and there were starter logs. We could have sent over the housekeeper to turn it on for you but felt it would be quicker to do this directly with you. It was a genuine error which we aimed to rectify quickly. I am sorry if you feel that we failed you on this occassion. Best wishes

Great Week Away

There were two of us and the cottage was great. It sleeps 4 but with 4 adults the living space could be a bit crowded. Everything we needed was there and we enjoyed our stay. We were pre warned about some building work on the cottage next door and as promised it did not disturb us.

A Little Gem and a Relaxing Retreat

We have just returned from a lovely week at gorgeous Middle Cottage. As soon as we opened the front door I knew we were going to love it. It was spotlessly clean and there were some lovely homely touches all around, making it very comfortable. The TV area is also really cosy. Jane kindly left us scones, cream and jam for our arrival so that was a special treat. The little front garden is a mass of pretty flowers and is a real sun trap in the afternoon. I have to admit before we arrived, I was a bit concerned about the lack of on site parking, but we needn't have worried as there was always a spot for us just down the road where about four other cars parked. We never had a problem with parking and we were able to drive right up to the door to unload our luggage. There is also a lovely local pub which serves delicious food and the staff and locals are all very friendly. We ate there every night apart from two and it is within walking distance so no driving involved. Another little gem!

The best of the best!

We stayed at Middle Cottage for a week in July. When we arrived, we parked out the front and unloaded our car, then easily found parking just a few yards up the road. The cottage was spotlessly clean upon arrival and was the most equipt self catering accommodation we’ve ever stayed in - it felt like a home away from home. The kitchen had everything you could possibly think of, as well as cleaning supplies, candles, matches, playing cards etc. The bedrooms were lovely, extremely comfortable to sleep in. We were fortunate enough for have had a plenty of sunshine during our stay, where we were able to make use of the sun loungers in the garden. The garden was so peaceful and had its sun and shade spots perfect for the weather we had. What a wonderful stay at Middle Cottage!

Cosy Cottage !

We had a wonderfull week at Middle Cottage, despite some mediocre weather. It's an ideal cottage for a couple to enjoy and is located in a very quiet village with an excellent local pub that serves great food. The accomodation is in A1 condition, spotlessly clean and is by far the best equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The only minor mark-down is the lack of off-road parking. However, there is safe parking on the lane only a few yards away and this didn't cause us any problems. We're pleased to recommend Middle Cottage and would be very happy to return.

If you want peace and quiet in a lovely village this is the place to come,don't be put off by the narrow lanes to reach it ( that's Devon) Everything you need is here in the cottage, comfy beds and the accommodation is to a high standard.Handy for Totness, Dittisham and Dartmouth,plenty of walking trails and beaches, Bantham being our favourite.All you need is the weather and we had it ( 11th - 25th June 2021) Nice pub, friendly and food good. Gets a 10 out of 10 from us

this is a lovely place to stay lovely but not necessary for those who have mobility probs i,e stairs need a bannister to hold also, a shower non slip mat in the bath not all visitos are under 40 !!!! overall tho good week ,,,,,,,

Lovely

A lovely clean, comfortable, well presented little cottage. Lovely wood burner made for cosy and warm nights, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Short walk to local friendly pub with good hearty food, good position for walks, overall super little cottage in very nice peaceful and traditional village which made for a relaxing break.

Middle Cottage

A wonderful little property in a charming village. The house is immaculate and very well equipped. We were welcomed with scones, jam and clotted cream. We loved the area and the only downside was the weather which was just our bad luck. We would love to go back.

Lovely Cottage

This is a gorgeous and very well appointed cottage. We had a lovely stay over a few days. Close enough to Totnes, while escaping the hustle and bustle.
