Grange moderne près de Sherborne

Meadow View Barn et The Shippens ont été convertis en 2007 pour offrir un environnement de détente moderne tout en conservant le caractère de la structure originale. Les granges sont situées à Over Compton, un village paisible situé à environ 5 km de Sherborne. C’est une magnifique cathédrale, de vieilles rues, des boutiques et des restaurants. Il y a un magasin de vins et de nourriture gastronomique réservé aux membres fantastiques à quelques pas des granges et un pub du village à seulement 800 mètres. Il y a un pub / restaurant primé (The Rose et Crown Trent) à seulement 1,5 km.
Les granges sont idéalement situées pour explorer le Dorset, que ce soit à l'intérieur ou sur la côte, à quelques minutes de route. Un service de train local dessert la ville de Bath ou le bord de mer de Weymouth.


Meadow View Barn peut accueillir jusqu'à 5 personnes dans 2 chambres à coucher avec un grand espace de vie ouvert. The Shippens est une plus grande propriété de 3 chambres avec salle de bains attenante à la chambre principale, pouvant accueillir jusqu'à 7 personnes. Les granges peuvent être louées ensemble pour un total de 12 lits.

Nous avons aménagé les granges à un niveau élevé avec du mobilier et du linge de lit de bonne qualité. Les cuisines sont bien équipées avec des appareils de bonne qualité. Nous accueillons les familles de tout âge et pouvons offrir des lits de voyage, des chaises hautes et des cages d'escalier sur demande. Les prix comprennent l'électricité, le WiFi, le linge de lit 100% coton et un panier de bienvenue. Il y a 40 "téléviseurs SMART, console de jeux Wii et Superfast WiFi.

Les granges sont orientées au sud et ont une cour en gravier, des jardins ensoleillés toute la journée et en soirée. Il y a une table et des chaises sur un patio parfait pour se détendre en soirée et profiter du barbecue au charbon de bois. Les jardins ont une petite clôture avec une porte sécurisée. Il y a une place de parking réservée pour chaque propriété (The Shippens a deux places).

We have just had a wonderful stay at The Shippens Barn. It was a family get together to celebrate Christmas 2025. Lovely Christmas decorations and tree made it just perfect for your family Christmas, thank you. The property was superb, clean, spacious, well equipped, quiet neighbourhood, comfortable, a home away from home. We can highly recommend for your next Somerset family get together. The hosts very kindly allowed an early check in for my sister who flew free n SA. Thank you so much.

Short Autumn break

Spacious property for 4 but maybe a bit tight for 6 adults. Everything that we needed we found. The walk to Trenchermans on a sunny day was breathtaking especially with the cyclamen round the church. Plenty to see without travelling too far.

Well appointed barn in pleasant surroundings

We are a family of six, ranging in age from 6 - 66 and all loved this barn. We were impressed with how well equipped the accommodation was and couldn’t find anything lacking. It was comfortable throughout but the two smaller bedrooms were very warm at night as we were lucky enough to be there during a very warm spell. The owners responded swiftly to queries both before and during our stay. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and would love to return ourselves one day.

Fantastic weekend retreat!!

A hidden gem in deepest Dorset! A wonderfully spacious, comfortable, well equipped barn conversion that didn't disappoint. The pictures accurately depict this lovely setting & provided the perfect stay for the Easter bank holiday for me & my family. Everything was catered for by the accommodating owners. Spotlessly clean & modern, from the thoughtful welcome basket to all the numerous games, books & dvds provided for entertainment. A lovely quiet location, although a car is a must, but definitely will be hoping to return to revisit this beautiful barn.

We enjoyed our time at the Shippens and found it quite convenient for our visits around Dorset and Somerset. The place was well equipped and apart from some used towels behind a bedroom door it was scrupulously clean. We would highly recommend to future visitors.

A fabulous destination, forms lovely base

Our family of 3 adults and 3 teens had less than a week and we could have stayed much longer. The accommodation was very well equipped and any comments we made were quickly acknowledged with a promise to be rectified; everything was professionally handled. Relaxing and spacious

We had a great stay at the Shippens. The barn is lovely and spacious with everything you could want for a relaxing getaway. Beautifully decorated and very clean and tidy. We took a winter walk to the local deli and a trip to Sherborne Castle for their firework display which was excellent. Would definitely stay again!

The Shippens

The Shippens is a beautifully presented property in a lovely village/hamlet close to Yeovil. The property was clean, well equipped and very welcoming. I particularly loved the basket of biscuits/crisps and chilled bottle of wine waiting for us. The beds were very comfortable too. I highly recommend this property and look forward to returning in the future.

Rundum zum Wohlfühlen

"The shippens" ist eine sehr komfortable und großzügige Ferienwohnung. Es war alles sehr sauber und gepflegt. Ein gefüllter Korb mit Leckereien erwartete uns gegen den kleinen Hunger und eine Flache Wein. Vielen Dank! Wir waren zu siebt dort (drei Erwachsene und vier Kinder) und es gab reichlich Platz für alle. Das Highlight für meine Jungs war die dort vorhandene Wii und das Sortiment an Spielen :-) Es waren auch reichlich Bücher, DVD´s und CD´s vorhanden. Wir kamen auch schnell mit den Nachbarn in Kontakt. Unser Fazit: * Die Engländer sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit; * Die Landschaft Südenglands ist einzigartig und sehenswert; * "The Shippens" ist ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen und "sich zu Hause" fühlen. Sehr empfehleswert!

A well equipped and comfortable holiday home.

We stayed for two weeks in July 2016 and found the Shippens to be very well equipped, comfortable and clean. There were 5 of us, Mum, Dad, Daugter and Grandparents. We found it to be an ideal base for us to explore the surrounding areas and plenty of room to relax when we got back each day. There were plenty of places to visit including the Haynes International motor museum, the Fleet Air Arm museum and Bovington Tank museum to name but a few. The Pen Mill Hotel restaurant was a favourite of ours, the carvery was excellent and reasonably priced ( but you need to book first to guarantee a place! ). We would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Alison and Ian couldn't have been more helpful, communication was excellent.

Perfect for families

We have just come back from a lovely holiday at the Shippens. It is as described with a large en suite bedroom, a small double and a twin suitable for 2 children. We had a baby with us and found everything to be very clean and well-equipped for a baby including high chair, travel cot, stair gate and utensils. The kitchen is well-equipped and we ate out in the courtyard every evening. Safe parking opposite the house was a bonus and the property is within easy reach of Sherborne, the seaside and other interesting places (30 mins to Clark's Village for shopaholics!) I would happily stay at the Shippens again.

We have long been fans of the adjoining Meadow View Barn and The Shippens is just as well thought out with exceptionally high levels of cleanliness, quality of fittings and equipment. Everything is there you would need plus so many extras such as an extensive DVD collection and a library of books. The large kitchen is especially well equipped. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds comfortable. The location is very rural and peaceful but still close enough to the nearby towns for convenience. There are some fantastic local walks. The owners are very communicative and helpful. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
