Overview

About the property

Pet friendly, fully furnished one bedroom home 1/2 block from Lake Superior.

Thanks for looking at our vacation cottage! This is a four seasons home that is ready to keep you warm through a U.P. winter storm or welcome you in the summer to a cool lake breeze.

At 414 SF, this house is sized for a couple or small family. There is a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a pull-out sofa in the living room. We are pet friendly, so bring your dog!

The home is located in Marquette's historic East Side and is only a half block to the most popular beach in Marquette. From Spring through Fall, the rental includes two 3 speed cruiser bikes. With the bike path less than a 30 second pedal away, it's up to you to decide if you want to go to Presque Isle Park, the Third Street Village, the downtown restaurants or Farmer's Market, or maybe the brew pubs after a full day on the beach, mountain biking, or skiing.

The home has been decorated with a mix of whimsy and local history. It has a comfortable queen sized bed, pull-out couch, air conditioner, new furnace, and washer and dryer. The home also includes WiFi and Netflix.

The patio doors in the living room open to a deck and a private backyard. The deck has a patio set, deck chairs, and grill from summer through fall.

The private backyard is fenced in with convenient access from the patio doors. The home is pet-friendly and allows up to two dogs for an additional $50 per dog. (Because the VRBO billing system only accounts for one dog, please let us know if you will be bringing two dogs and we will add the additional charge to your reservation.) We do ask that you clean up after your dog after he uses the yard and we do provide doggie bags.

This house is a carriage house, which means it shares the property with another house. The other house is occupied by quiet long-term renters. The driveway is shared with the long-term renters but your home has its own allotted parking space and has its own private fenced in backyard.

We are locals and live just a block away! We are happy to help you make the most of your stay. We don't think you'll find a better location in Marquette and look forward to hearing from you!

About Greg

My wife Kate and I have lived in Marquette since 2005. Kate is a Registered Nurse and I am a Professional Engineer. We both retired in 2017.

Kate and I are both outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy stepping out our front door and finding ourselves at the lake or in the woods within minutes. We both love trail running and the miles of trails that branch out from the City.

Greg purchased this house in 2010

Why Greg chose Marquette

My wife and I own several long-term rental houses in the City. We bought this home in 2010 and chose the home to be a vacation home because it is close to the lake and a perfect little cottage for a couple or family looking to be near all of Marquette's most popular destinations.

What makes this house unique

We don't think you'll find a house that's closer to everything that Marquette has to offer, from it's pristine beaches to it's fabulous parks, or vibrant downtown. Our goal is to have you park your car and be within walking and biking distance to all of Marquette's popular destinations.

We pride ourselves on being attentive and providing you a cozy, clean, comfortable, and affordable home away from home.

Great location and the hospitality exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The owner Greg went above and beyond to welcome us in a day early to stay ahead of a winter storm. We really enjoyed the little thoughtful touches throughout the cottage. I highly recommend this rental for it's location, value and caring owners.

Adorable cottage in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this cottage. It was nicely decorated with all the amenities. We loved the local gifts of craft beer and candies. The bed was very comfortable, which is very important. The fenced in backyard is great for any pet friendly rental. We enjoyed the local trails for fat biking and snowshoeing! It was closely located to downtown where we enjoyed great restaurants and breweries! We will definitely be back. We were allowed an early check in and a late check out, the owners were very easy to communicate with. Thanks for a great stay!

Cozy winter stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent four nights in this very cozy cottage near downtown Marquette and all the wonderful things the area has to offer. The cottage is small but has all the necessities and was very nicely decorated for Valentines Day. The cottage was lit up as we arrived after dark in a light snow and was very welcoming as we got settled in. We enjoyed three days of reading, XC skiing, napping and eating out at The Vierling, The Delft and Lagniappes (Cajun cuisine). Our hosts were on top of everything including a nice gift basket of local beers, treats and a sweet gift certificate to Donckers (the best candy shop in the Midwest!). We couldn't have asked for a better stay and will definitely be back!

Comfy/Cozy Cottage

We stayed for a weekend ski race and it was a perfect fit for our group. The owners made sure our stay was comfortable with adding little details to make the place feel welcoming. The cottage was clean and cozy.

Clean, Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This adorable cottage was clean, comfortable, and very cozy. The decor was tasteful and inviting. We really enjoyed having a big backyard for the dogs, and would love to return in the summer/fall to get some use out of the secluded deck. The kitchen was well-stocked, and there was a great variety of games/books/dvd's for use. There was even a drawer full of in-case-you-forgot items, which was helpful, as my husband forgot his toothbrush! The owners really thought of everything. The location was close to the water, and not far at all from the downtown area. We were there during a blizzard, and over the New Year, so we had an exciting time, for sure! It was always nice to come back to this comfy space to warm up between adventures. The New Year's Eve "ball drop" party was a blast! What a fun community this is! And hardy, too...people were out and about on the day of the blizzard, fat-tire biking and cross-country skiing around town. If you love winter outdoor adventure, look no further than this extremely reasonable cottage to be the jumping point for your activities!

Greg provided fantastic recommendations for waterfall viewing, snowshoeing/cross-country skiing, hiking, and restaurants. We really appreciated not having to do all of the research to find fun activities in the area! The welcome basket full of goodies was a lovely surprise, too!

Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will be back, for sure!

P.S. We would HIGHLY recommend The Marq for outstanding farm-to-table food/atmosphere/craft cocktails.
