About Monica Kendall

Nikki Horgan, owner and manager of NamiNori House.

Monica Kendall purchased this house in 2004

Why Monica Kendall chose Hanalei

I designed and built this home (with the help of many many people of course). I love it and really put attention to details and comfort into it. We own the home directly behind it as well otherwise I would live in it myself! Enjoy.

What makes this house unique

The location and value is unparalleled here. You can walk to the beach, to town, to the river for kayaking. I have made every effort to make it your home, not just a vacation spot. We have bikes, surf and boogie boards, loads of amenities for kids, linens, towels, ping pong, everything you need for the beach, you name it. I am a full time resident of Kauai and am here to help out with whatever you need to make your stay memorable and comfortable. Aloha.

Wonderful house! Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. The location is unbeatable - right across the street from the beach facing the sunset on Hanalei Bay. Very comfortable for 6 people, the amenities of beach chairs, boogie board, paddleboard & beach towels were very nice. The park nearby is busy & noisy during the day, but better when folks leave after it gets dark. It did not interfere with the experience. And, having Pat's taco truck just outside the gate was great for fish tacos every lunch!

Owner's Response: Wonderful having you folks! Thank you for your comments--which are very helpful. Hanalei has gotten so popular over the years and people are constantly down there to enjoy the perfect beach, beautiful weather, amazing views, and epic surf. But you are right--they pack up and head home at dusk. For the right families and folks, that laid-back, Hawaiian "pau-hana" fun hour is a huge plus. Aloha and a hui ho!

We much enjoyed our stay. Great house in super location just across from the beach. Loved all the facilities and amenities including the outdoor hot shower which we used often. Beach chairs, surfboards, beach umbrellas ,ice chest, and beach toys for the grandchildren all much appreciated. Good restaurants and shopping in Hanalei and other great beaches nearby. House was generally well presented but probably in need of a freshen up sometime soon. Only minor criticism was that ping pong bats and balls need to be replaced. Will try to visit again sometime. Highly recommended.

A great beach house

  • 5 of 5

This house is ideally situated for the beach. There is some noise from cars entering and leaving the nearby car park, and this sometimes goes on into the night. But the rental price fairly reflects this moderate inconvenience.

We loved Hanalei and would certainly stay in this property again.

Naminori and Nikki are just the best.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been coming to Kauai for around 15 years and have tried lots of different hotels and home rentals throughout. We have chosen Hanalei Bay as our special go-to place and Naminori as our favorite home in all of Kauai. Its amazing proximity to the beach, iconic Hanalei Pier and the town make it a truly ideal spot. The house itself is amazing. Clean. Comfortable. Lovely. Decked out with everything you need from bikes to surf board to SUP to beach chairs to ping pong table. My wife and I bring our two young boys and after a week those little groms just didn't want to leave. They call it their Hanalei house. Plus Nikki the manager is just awesome. Super personable and accessible whenever I needed to ask questions.

We are definitely coming back as soon as we can.

Magical trip

  • 5 of 5

We have been back to this house several times over the years and it is always wonderful. Last year we stayed in Haena to see what a more remote experience was like and all wished we had been at NamiNori! We couldn't wait to come back this year! It was frustrating to have to drive over the windy roads and wait at the bridges just to get back into Hanalei. And while it is busy at sunset and on weekends, we LOVE that you can come back and forth from the house with a toddler for naps and snacks and then pop back out again. My kids didn't stop jumping off the pier. We SUP'd up the river and probably had Pat's Tacos right there across from the house 9 times. (I'm missing that as I type this!) For a busy family with a range of ages this is the only place to stay in Hanalei. Maybe if you are honeymooning and want total privacy and quietude, there are other spots better suited but we will keep coming back to our magical spot. The house has some nice upgrades too which were a bonus. New furniture and the yard is now more than twice the size! My kids were out there sun up to sun down. I'm a little sad just writing this. Can't wait to go back next year :)

Magical Memories for our Family

  • 5 of 5

We visited Naminori House in the spring and had one of those "once in a family lifetime" stays. The house is well-equipped, comfortable, and so perfectly located to everything we wanted to experience. We did SUP up the Hanalei River and stopped at the Hanalei Dolphin for sunset happy hour, kids jumped off the pier, had some of the best fish tacos I can remember, went to town for shopping and groceries, and walked the bay every morning (and some evenings) on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. And all without getting in our rental car once! It is busy at sunset at the beach park (I read lots of the reviews) but this was a plus to my crew who are 11, 13 and 9. The yard is massive and private and there is even a tiki bar. IF we wanted to be a part of the beach park fun we went there and if we didn't we hung out in the huge compound. We talked quite seriously about trying to buy this little slice of heaven. My only hesitation to return (again and again) would be how could we have that great of a time again!! A wonderful spot.
