About Nikki Kendall

Nikki Horgan, owner and manager of NamiNori House.

Nikki Kendall purchased this house in 2004

Why Nikki Kendall chose North Shore

I designed and built this home (with the help of many many people of course). I love it and really put attention to details and comfort into it. We own the home directly behind it as well otherwise I would live in it myself! Enjoy.

What makes this house unique

The location and value is unparalleled here. You can walk to the beach, to town, to the river for kayaking. I have made every effort to make it your home, not just a vacation spot. We have bikes, surf and boogie boards, loads of amenities for kids, linens, towels, ping pong, everything you need for the beach, you name it. I am a full time resident of Kauai and am here to help out with whatever you need to make your stay memorable and comfortable. Aloha.

A great beach house

  • 5 of 5

This house is ideally situated for the beach. There is some noise from cars entering and leaving the nearby car park, and this sometimes goes on into the night. But the rental price fairly reflects this moderate inconvenience.

We loved Hanalei and would certainly stay in this property again.

Naminori and Nikki are just the best.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been coming to Kauai for around 15 years and have tried lots of different hotels and home rentals throughout. We have chosen Hanalei Bay as our special go-to place and Naminori as our favorite home in all of Kauai. Its amazing proximity to the beach, iconic Hanalei Pier and the town make it a truly ideal spot. The house itself is amazing. Clean. Comfortable. Lovely. Decked out with everything you need from bikes to surf board to SUP to beach chairs to ping pong table. My wife and I bring our two young boys and after a week those little groms just didn't want to leave. They call it their Hanalei house. Plus Nikki the manager is just awesome. Super personable and accessible whenever I needed to ask questions.

We are definitely coming back as soon as we can.

Magical trip

  • 5 of 5

We have been back to this house several times over the years and it is always wonderful. Last year we stayed in Haena to see what a more remote experience was like and all wished we had been at NamiNori! We couldn't wait to come back this year! It was frustrating to have to drive over the windy roads and wait at the bridges just to get back into Hanalei. And while it is busy at sunset and on weekends, we LOVE that you can come back and forth from the house with a toddler for naps and snacks and then pop back out again. My kids didn't stop jumping off the pier. We SUP'd up the river and probably had Pat's Tacos right there across from the house 9 times. (I'm missing that as I type this!) For a busy family with a range of ages this is the only place to stay in Hanalei. Maybe if you are honeymooning and want total privacy and quietude, there are other spots better suited but we will keep coming back to our magical spot. The house has some nice upgrades too which were a bonus. New furniture and the yard is now more than twice the size! My kids were out there sun up to sun down. I'm a little sad just writing this. Can't wait to go back next year :)

Magical Memories for our Family

  • 5 of 5

We visited Naminori House in the spring and had one of those "once in a family lifetime" stays. The house is well-equipped, comfortable, and so perfectly located to everything we wanted to experience. We did SUP up the Hanalei River and stopped at the Hanalei Dolphin for sunset happy hour, kids jumped off the pier, had some of the best fish tacos I can remember, went to town for shopping and groceries, and walked the bay every morning (and some evenings) on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. And all without getting in our rental car once! It is busy at sunset at the beach park (I read lots of the reviews) but this was a plus to my crew who are 11, 13 and 9. The yard is massive and private and there is even a tiki bar. IF we wanted to be a part of the beach park fun we went there and if we didn't we hung out in the huge compound. We talked quite seriously about trying to buy this little slice of heaven. My only hesitation to return (again and again) would be how could we have that great of a time again!! A wonderful spot.

Want to give it a 5 star but....

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week May 2016. The layout was perfect for our family of 5.5. We were able to have our adult children in the main house with their baby while we enjoyed the separate master suite. The bathroom in the master was really small. The toilet paper holder had no where to go but in the middle of the room. And there was really no space to put toiletries - I had to keep it all on the shelves in the bedroom, just inconvenient. We kept the windows open and the breeze kept us comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked - nothing missing that we needed. And super clean also. There was a great supply of beach towels. The furniture in the living room was icky, but I have since been told it was replaced. The locations was perfect for access to the beach/pier. Sunsets were spectacular. I though parking might be an issue but it was not. Loved being so close to town and appreciated the bikes. Do not miss Tahiti Nui in town. We made use of the surf board using it as a paddle board on the river. We also used the cooler and some other toys so it was great to have those. The yard is huge with a really funky tiki bar. The lanai is awesome! We could sit and people watch all day. The seating was bolted to the ground so you could not move any of it and it was for 4 only which I found odd for a house that rented for 6.The location was terrible for noise. I expected traffic because of the parking lot and lots of people visiting the pier. But it was unbelievable! It wasn't the expected traffic, it was the constant burning out of the parking lot all night. We were jolted out of sleep at 2:00 am, 3:00 am, 4:00 am, 5:00 am - by beach goes who needed to let the world know they were leaving. We watched one evening, and the same truck came and went at least 4 times, fishtailing and showering gravel from the parking lot to the street for at least a hundred feet each time. We noticed the police there quite a few times. So sad but a result of the popularity of the area. The service we received regarding the booking and subsequent questions was outstanding. Immediate reply to all of my emails. Overall, the experience was excellent. Knowing the noise level now, I am not sure we would stay again unless the area was monitored better at night. It was just noise, we never felt unsafe. This issue is out of their control and not a reflection of the management of the house and it is the only reason I could not give it 5 stars.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed Debbie's family and are a bit sad to see this review as all items she mentions were dealt with immediately and we got an entire new living room set quite literally the day after they left (it was shipped in and arrived then). I discussed with Debbie and so it's sad to see the furniture mentioned here when she knew we had new ones! The older furniture was imported Italian leather. Expensive and custom. Kauai is a very weather rich place and sadly it takes its toll! But the moment we felt it needed replacing we did. was Hanalei has become much more popular over the years. Our spot is prime to the pier and beach. We always recommend if people want a more remote Kauai experience they go to Haena. Our location is central--10 seconds to the beach and pier and even on the movie tour. Everything is walking distance whereas Haena you must drive to town and restaurant and stores. We want everyone to enjoy their stay! And hope to please everyone. Any and all comments and suggestions are helpful as answered or done as soon as possible.

Way too short stay!

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure staying at NamiNori House. The location is SUPERB! The Kitchen is well equipped for anything we wanted to prepare. The layout of the house works well for 1-2 families or up to three couples. And the little extras Surf and Paddle boards, bikes, beach towels, umbrella, beach chairs, cooler, etc... Added to our enjoyment of our way too short stay.

I could and will go on.

Another review suggested parking the car and leaving it. One could do that, as the house is walking distance to the best shopping and dining in Hanalei. Even better is the proximity to the best of Kauai north shore, beaches, hiking, gardens...
