Built in 2001, this luxury chalet faces south and west with views across the valley in a bright, sunny position. There are views of the mountains and whole valley from the chalet and no buildings in front. We can spend hours with a glass of wine just watching the changing light on the mountains.

There are two living areas, both with double sofabeds. One of them is a huge luxury leather one. It has two TVs, both with several English channels. It is rated 4*+ Luxury by the local Tourist Board.
No need to hire a car for this chalet. Trains from the airport drop you just 5 minutes' walk away. A bus stop is 50m from the chalet, and the free bus ferries you around the village and between the ski areas. The nearest bubble car, ski area, ski rental shop and ski school is just 5 minutes' walk away. Our record is being on the slopes with hired skis within 30 minutes of the train dropping us!
If you have kids, the nearest ski school specialises in teaching children and has lots of English instructors. If you have very small kids, there is even a crèche with fully qualified staff at the top of the nearest mountain where you can leave 18mn-5yr olds for an hour to a day whilst you ski.
The kitchen is equipped with every facility including latest cooker/microwave and hob, etc. Even a fondu set is provided!Large fridge/freezer. the kitchen and bathrooms are fitted with Italian tiles. The décor is modern/cozy with paintings sourced from Denmark, and traditional antique local prints.
There are traditional Swiss wooden chairs as well as comfy sofas. Fitted carpet throughout. Bedrooms are lined with walls and ceilings in traditional pine. Cable TV, including several English channels radio, CD, DVD as well as WiFi throughout the house. A large area for ski clothing and equipment. All washing facilities, including washing machine, drier, iron, ironing board. Stunning views, just 5 mins walk from the nearest cable car.

Klosters is justifiably world famous as a ski resort. Offering everything from beginners to black runs and huge off piste areas- no wonder Prince Charles goes there! The Ski Club of Great Britain has a rep there throughout the season. There are 5 different ski schools. But what makes Klosters so special is that it is still also a small traditional Swiss village with wooden chalets. Permanent population is just 3000. For non-skiers there are walks through glorious forests and trips to 18th century shopping towns such as Chur, and many traditional Swiss tearooms - so different from purpose built resorts!
In Summer there is a huge outdoor swimming pool, a sailing lake at Davos, walks/treks/and climbs. For children there are playgrounds, zoos, horse rides. This is Heidi Country with specially marked walks amongst the tiny villages. For adults, there is even a tour of the highest vineyard in Europe. The highest brewery in Europe, about 15 miles the other direction, also offers tours!

About the host
Hosted by Mark Fox
I have an obsession about personal service, not just machines with endless tape recordings an options and waiting 20 minutes to be answered! I always make sure that I or my agents are available at the end of my mobile if needed. My motto is "personal holidays with personal service".
Over 800 guests a year now stay at my five holiday homes run by me and listed on Homeaway. The average rating of over 250 online reviews is 4.9! I try to deliver consistency and quality.
The business started when we who bought the chalet for our own family holidays to give our children a chance to learn to ski, just as I learned as a small boy. I learned in the neighbouring valley, so had very good local knowledge as to where to buy. Now they are teenagers and totally competent on any black run or off-piste. But they all learned from being small children in the local ski school and grew to love the resort and the area. We still gather for family holidays and ski there as well as enjoy summer rambling and hiking. Our 14yr old describes it as his 'favourite place on earth' - you can't say better than that!
I am a retired banker, my wife is a doctor.
Why they chose this property
Car hire in Switzerland is very expensive, and I can't be bothered with snow chains and parking. This property is a walk to one ski area and the pass stops 50m away to the other. The railway station is a 5 minute walk, so we never need a car in winter, just arrive and leave by train from the airport. There are spectacular views across the mountains. No point in a chalet that feels like the middle of a city!
This is a chance to be at a world class top resort without having to pay top prices.
We also wanted a proper 'house/chalet' feel, not just an anonymous flat in a apartment block. It feels like a proper home. It is equipped for our family holidays, not a commercial let.
Each of our places is designed to have the feel of the country it is in. This one has pine furniture and Swiss silver as well as all the modern facilities such as built-in cupboards, not just flatpack chipboard! There is even a fondue set in the kitchen so you can have a proper Swiss meal one evening.
What makes this property unique
Chalets rather than just flats are rare in this part of Switzerland. The French side has lots of chalets, but the German side is almost entirely flats. We like the space and privacy of a proper house. It feels much more open and gives more freedom. The only view from lot of ski places is just the building next door! You would never know that you were in high mountains! We wanted a spectacular view. Just looking out on the sunrise or sunset at the ever-changing mountain view is special all by itself.
There aren't many chalets that have a sauna and steam room just for themselves. It offers an amazing luxury experience that can normally only be found at the world's most expensive hotels.
This is one of our five places, all listed on Homeaway. So far this year we have had over 400 guests and over the years more than 250 online reviews of our properties . Our average rating is ! I try to ensure that my places deliver consistent quality again and again. Self catering should be high quality, not just making use of someone else's place.
