Check in was straightforward and lots of good instructions on what to do and how to use things.
Location is a short walk from the village and provides good access for other Cotswold attractions
Helen was very helpful and answered all of our questions online in a timely manner.
Cottage has good modern facilities including wifi & TV access.
Highly recommend this property. Enjoyed our stay.
Helen and Ian’s home is within walking distance to all of the attractions in Bourton on the Water and driving distance to nearby villages. The home was perfect in every way and very comfortable for the four of us. Helen and Ian made the check in and check out process easy. Highly recommend!
Positive
- nice, good equipped house
- centrally situated in the Cotswolds
- Bourton is a nice village
- good restaurants nearby (15 min. walk)
Suggestion: coatrack.
We knew that 10 AM was the time to leave; there is no nood to repeat it so many times.
WE had a great time, everything was great but must say the house is really only big enough for 4 people as was tight with luggage as we came from Bermuda we had possibly more than most people. also an outside table would have been great. overall we were really pleased.
My Wife and I were so very happy we chose Bourton on the Water as our Base and this Home provided the perfect starting point. The Master Bed is extremely comfortable. The House is clean, very well equipped with modern facilities and in a nice, family-friendly neighborhood just a short walk to the village center (even shorter to the Coop Grocer). The lovely village of Bourton on the Water has many wonderful restaurant options and tourist attractions for young and old alike. Helen was very pleasant and always available, if needed. This property and location are highly recommended.
My family (three adults, two children) stayed at the cottage during our trip to the United Kingdom. It was a beautiful home where we felt immediately at home. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed to cook several meals. The beds were comfortable and cozy. The living room had games and books, so we were well entertained. The home was very clean and we felt right at home. We were able to easily walk into downtown Bourton on the Water to enjoy all the sites. We really enjoyed our stay and return. We highly recommend Skylark Cottage.
We cannot thank Helen and Ian enough for a fantastic stay in Bourton-on-the-water.
Their house was absolutely perfect for us. Helen and Ian really have thought of everything - we were very grateful for the toys for the baby and ofcourse the scones on arrival for the adults.
During the lead up to our trip, Helen was really helpful in replying to any queries which we had and provided us with information for the local attractions.
The interior of the house has been really well thought out...we have definitely stolen some great ideas for our own house too!
We had a great time and will certainly be back to Skylark Cottage.
Thank you once again, Helen and Ian!
My best friend, adult daughter and I stayed at this great property for 3 nights. From the start, Helen was an excellent communicator. Being from another country, we were a little anxious about getting to the location in a rental car. It turned out there were no worries with that at all. Helen's directions were perfect and the on site parking was a great perk. The cottage was lovely and very well stocked. The location was walkable to many of the sites in Bourton. We used it as a central hub to explore the Cotswolds. The check in and check out process was as expected. We had the good luck to be in the area during a heat spell, making it seem more like the Midwest in America. We had a learning curve remembering that most places in England do not have air conditioning, but the fans that were provided were helpful. This was the ideal place for our little group to relax and recover after very busy days exploring. I would highly recommend this location and Helen as a host.
The property was everything it looked to be when I booked it. Very impressed with the detail, everything you needed for your stay was there they left a few bits and pieces which was very nice. There was another couple staying with us who were as equally impressed
Thank you Helen and Ian for setting the perfect start to our week. Your home is in a great location that allowed us to do what we had hoped. Communiation was excellent before and during our stay. All the amenities you would want are here and your home was comfy for four adults. Thanks for the lovely welcome treats and all the extra info in your binder and grey bin. It helped in our planning. We mostly toured or hiked during the day, eating at a pub for lunch then made our compulsory 5 min. walk to the modern, large Coop where we discovered the delicious COOK foods for dinner. Favorites - Broadway Tower hike, Bourton to Slaughters hike; Mousetrap Pub, Lower Slaughter Inn; Cirencester market day. Thanks for a great week. Anyone considering the Cotswolds should book here.
Beautiful property. Excellent linens/towels. Well appointed kitchen with everything you could need. Wonderful little welcome basket. Location is very good except for us old timers with bad knees. :)
The property was perfect for our needs. Great location, just a short walk to the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water. The house itself is lovely - one of the best kitted out rentals we've stayed in, it had everything we needed. Good size rooms, great kitchen and outside space. Communication with the owner was superb, everything was super easy. Would highly recommend. Thanks!
Our recent stay at the Skylark cottage was fantastic! Helen is an amazing host - prompt with her replies, helpful and very welcoming.
We were there during a heatwave and Helen made sure we had fans to use to stay comfortable. She left us a lovely welcome basket which was appreciated by all.
The home is immaculate, and includes all the necessities (laundry facilities, dishes, soap for hand washing, laundry and dishwasher as well as basic condiments, coffee, tea and milk, grocery bags, picnic blanket and cooler bag ).
Skylark cottage is a short walk to the Co-op grocery store as well as the shops and restaurants in the village.
We would highly recommend this rental if you are considering a trip to Bourton-on-the-Water!
Modern family home in quiet residential neighborhood. Short walk to Co-op for all of our grocery needs and to the town centre. The kitchen was one of the most well-stocked kitchens we’ve experienced in a VRBO property, you weren’t wanting for anything to cook a meal. One room had blackout curtains while the other two had light filtering window coverings. We appreciated the books, games and magazines left for our enjoyment and the comfortable living room.
There is much to love about this house - it is sparkling clean, and everything is new and well thought out. A thoughtful welcome basket, books and toys, games for kids are nice touches. We settled in nicely and enjoyed the proximity to all the little villages in the Cotswolds, nothing more that 20 minutes away. The one issue we had is that the listing does not say that this house is part of a large, new, cookie-cutter complex. We were very surprised pulling in to the sort of sterile, not very "cottage charm" area, as in the photo you can't tell that this is the case. Once we got over our initial disappointment (we are from the US and had a dreamy expectation of something more unique/not so urban) we did appreciate the home. You could walk to the main part of Bourton for coffee in just 15 min. Our host was an excellent communicator also. There is a bit of laundry prep and clean-up we were asked to do due to covid but hopefully that will be gone soon. Overall, it is a nice, clean home and close to everything.
This is a lovely modern house that is immaculate. It is very well equipped for a holiday home. Everything is clear with good instructions and communications with owners. Great location and a ten minute walk into central Bourton.
This holiday cottage is an absolute gem. It is modern and very well equipped, beautifully clean and a perfect location for shops and the village. I would love to stay again and the communication with Helen the owner was first class.
Skylark Cottage is a beautiful property set in a great location within Bourton. Everything and more within the cottage had been thought about, and we needed for nothing. Cleanliness was faultless and communication from the owner was superb.
We were a group of friends staying for a long weekend, but the property and its location would equally suit a family with children or a couple looking for a romantic break.
A beautiful house that is so homely and well equipped in a great location and only a 15minute walk into Bourton.
