We received a pleasant welcome on arrival by the owners and once inside discovered fresh flowers and a traditional cream tea, which was a very nice touch.
The cottage itself was very clean & tidy and fully equipped with everything we needed: pots & pans, crockery, books, TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, all we had to supply was food. The cottages are arranged around a small yard which made it very private and our two boys (aged 5 & 2) were free to roam around and play outside safely. There is also a small horse stables and paddocks with some very friendly Shetland Ponies which proved to be a big hit with the boys.
If you love the countryside then you'll love the location, it is literally on the moor; as in you walk through the car parking area, through a gate and you're there! Great views, great walking and some very friendly local wildlife. A short drive away there is the Blisland Inn, which is a superb old fashioned traditional village pub serving good food and beer at reasonable prices with a warm friendly welcome. Rock is roughly 30 mins drive and has an amazing beach, with regular ferries running across the estuary to Padstow, just make sure you get there early if you want any chance of parking!
All in all we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Hallagenna Cottages, we will definitely be back. If you're looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful, remote part of Cornwall it's well worth a visit.
