2 bedroom Oceanside Unit w/ Continental Breakfast (car available for xtra fee)

Cute and super clean 2 bedroom vacation rental located on the ground floor. It has a private entrance, 2 spacious bedrooms and has lots of amenities and since we also have the 1st (and currently only) B&B permit, we also serve a continental breakfast each morning. Kahakai Hale is located on a quiet cul-de-sac with only 2 houses and is steps from the ocean. In the winter you can watch the whales right from the beach out front and the rest of the year watch the beautiful sunsets. Our place is extremely clean (we strive for Disney clean) and well equipped. It has a queen bed in the main bedroom with new memory foam mattress, and the second bedroom has 2 twin beds (which can be pushed together to make a King). We are located on the water, steps from a quiet beach that is perfect for SUPing and kayaking. Kahakai Hale (Beach House) is centrally located and just 4 miles from town for quick access to stores, restaurants and the famous nightly Molokai Hot Bread. There is a private lanai with grill and a great view of the beach. We have a few different vehicles that that can be rented along with the unit (for an additional fee) through TURO, as they validate licenses and can provide the proper insurance (most insurance companies do not cover a vehicle if you rent it from a private individual ( especially for those residing outside the US). You will find our rate is at least 1/3 - 1/2 of the airport rental agency). The prices are $46 a day for the cars and $59 a day for the Jeep or CRV with a 10% discount for stay of 1 week or more.

Because Kahakai Hale is legally permitted property, you can book with confidence and be assured that your vacation will go off without a hitch. No need to worry that the property you've chosen is shut down (Maui County is really cracking down on the illegal rentals) on your arrival and having to find another at the last minute.

Please remember that our maximum occupancy is 4, exception for an infant. Please do not ask to accommodate more, as we want our guests to be comfortable and have set the maximum guests to reflect this. If you have a party of 5 or more, please seek other arrangements.

We do have a B&B permit which enables us to serve breakfast each morning, but Maui County does not allow B&B's to serve prepared food, but we can bake. Some of the bake goods we serve are Banana Bread, Pumpkin Bread, Coffee Cake, Blueberry Buckle, Scones and English Muffins...all homemade from scratch. The rest of the meal will be continental style. We usually provide cereal, milk, yogurt, instant oatmeal, coffee, tea, peanut butter, jelly, honey, butter and fresh fruit. We also have an organic garden and some fruit trees on the property which guests are welcome to use.

About Yvette Carlton

We came to Hawaii (Oahu) from New England with the Navy back in 1989 and fell in love with the people, the island, and the climate. We were blessed to return to Oahu again in 2009, but the increasing traffic made it less enjoyable & took a toll on us. In May of 2015, we made our first visit to Molokai & immediately fell in love with the island and the people. It's like "country" in the tropics. Imagine Hawaii of the past, unspoiled country and untouched beaches, no traffic & no stoplights! It reminded us a bit of the Oahu we knew 25 years ago, but even less developed. We retired from the Air Force this year (2016) and moved to Molokai full time, enabling us to focus on managing and maintaining our vacation rentals. If you like lights, noise, chain stores & restaurants, construction and need constant entertainment, then Molokai may not be for you. But if you love the ocean, are looking for peace, tranquility, beauty and want to see the Hawaii of yesterday, you may never want to leave.

Molokai is an amazing place. Unless you have actually been here, it is hard to explain. It is surreal to be the only one on a beautiful pristine beach in Hawaii or to come to a stop while driving, only because you want to, or because you've arrived at your destination. There are only 2 gas stations, 2 grocery stores, and a few restaurants in town. You can buy organic produce & eggs fresh from Kumu Farms (open Tues-Fri) and your grass-fed meat fresh from Moloka'i Livestock Cooperative (M-F 7:30 am - 3:00 pm). We have kayaks, bikes, a SUP, snorkel and fishing gear along with beach chairs and towels and we serve a continental breakfast daily. We have tried to provide everything that you need to enjoy your stay and strive to continuously improve.

What makes this apartment unique

Kahakai Hale is not just another vacation rental, it is a passion of ours. Since we retired from the Air Force in 2016 and moved to Molokai, we get to focus all of our attention on our vacation rentals (Kahakai Hale - 1044414 & Hale Kamaluhia - 740667) and ensuring our guest have the best time that we can provide (within our control). We are one of the few owners who actually live here and are in our unit after every guest to make sure everything is clean (we strive for Disney clean) and in good working order. We are available to answer any question you may have about Molokai, our units, current weather conditions, best places to go, how to get here (best inter island airlines)... We want our guests to feel like they are coming home so we have tried to provide everything you could need (except food & clothes) and are always trying to improve and welcome suggestions. Our units and Molokai offer the chance to get away from it all. Enjoy the view of Lanai from the private lanai, walk along the beautiful pristine beaches (usually alone), drive on roads where there are very few other travelers, listen to what nature sounds like when there are no man made noises to clutter it up. Fall asleep to the sound of the wind or the waves on the rocks. Kahakai Hale is right by the ocean which enables you to enjoy the constant breeze and hear the waves and wind. Really cute place, tidy and SUPER clean!! There was a good supply of food and homemade DELICIOUS bread! The hosts were extremely friendly and checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. Great being right by the beach, conveniently located, close by everything we needed. Highly recommended!!

We have a B&B permit (currently the only one on Molokai) which allows us to serve a continental breakfast daily, but we operate as a vacation rental because it is a 2 bedroom apartment and you do not share the apartment with anyone else.

Molokai Dream House!

We had such an excellent time in Molokai! Mike and Yvette's place is a very cute beach house in a perfect location, just steps from the beach. We took their kayak out on the water near their house and had a blast, the views of Maui and Lanai were amazing. The central location in Kauanakakai is fantastic with fun town restaurants/shops and driving to the beautiful west side beaches or Hawala Valley is not too far. Mike and Yvette are very kind and we definitely recommend their place to everyone! Molokai is a a dream island! It really is the friendly isle with surreal, magical places like Kalapapa, heavenly beaches, an amazing waterfall hike in Hawala Valley and not one single traffic light on island! Majestic!

Mike & Yvette have a lovely little unit with all the conveniences. Perfect location for exploring and terrific recommendations from the hosts. Unit was well equipped with bonus use of kayaks and snorkel gear. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely unit, excellent amenities!

Yvette and Mike are very attentive hosts and excellent bakers! We loved having kayaks and paddle board included and used them every day. The unit itself is very intimately connected with the main house, so we were especially wary of making any noise, and could hear people moving about early in the morning. We're early birds so that wasn't a problem for us, but it wasn't quite as quiet and remote as we wanted. All in all though, a fantastic deal, a well kept unit with very kind and helpful hosts!

It just so happens that during your stay my in-laws, who are in their upper 70's, were visiting from the mainland. They are now back home in Florida and peace and solitude are restored.

Secluded Island Neighborhood On Beach with People You Will Want To Meet

Yvette and her husband Mike welcomed us as though we were guests in their home. The single walled, two bedroom, one bath home on the first floor of a two story buiding was clean, comfortable, with fun decorations and amenities to meet every need. The walk to the beach in this rural area was just outside the door. The water was shallow and accessible for kayaking or similar water sports. The views were breathtaking. In addition, our host shared the results his home baked scone hobby with us, and when i absent mindedy left the renal car keys locked inside, these particular owners came to our rescue so or our plans could continue without interruption. This was a lucky find for us to unclude getting to meet the amazing owners. I can't wait to return.
