Mid-City House 1 block to Streetcar

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Our charming 3 BR/1.5 Bath comfortably sleeps 6 people. This listing includes a driveway and is 1 block from the Streetcar, which is great for going downtown and to the French Quarter. Perfect for Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest!

This is a single family historic craftsman style house. It has hardwood floors throughout the living areas and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. The back bedroom features a king mattress and walk in closet. The 2nd bedroom, which you walk through to get to the back bedroom, has a futon which can easily sleep 2 people. The front bedroom has a queen size bed and a futon/bench, which can fold down to sleep 1 more person. The kitchen has granite counters and all stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher.

Some other features of the house include central air and heat, washer and dryer for clothes, driveway for parking, front porch with a swing and back patio.

This is a lovely neighborhood that you will feel safe and comfortable in. My wife and I lived here for numerous years and thoroughly enjoyed being there. It's a nice quiet area, but its very close to numerous places to eat, drink and shop. The home is located in a historic district, so there are beautiful historic New Orleans homes lining the streets.

The home is near many of the festivals New Orleans is known for, such as Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Voodoo Music Fest, etc. Also City Park is just a short walk away.

Many of the cities fine features are a very close. A short walk away is the famous above ground cemeteries, New Orleans Museum of Art, and many of the other attractions at City Park. Also a short car or streetcar ride away is the French Quarter, The Superdome, Harrah's Casino, Aquarium of America, National World War 2 Museum, etc.

This part of town is centrally located to everything, hence the name Mid-City. The streetcar is 1 block from the house. This is a great cheap way to get around New Orleans and see different parts of the city. The streetcar line is a straight shot to the French Quarter and downtown as well. There are numerous places to walk to including restaurants, bars, banks, drug stores, grocery stores, etc. Getting a taxi or Uber/Lyft is very easy to do from here as well.

The house is a non smoking and pet free home. We do not allow guests to throw parties. We have a great relationship with our neighbors, so noise levels inside the house need to be kept to an appropriate level and no outside activity after 10pm.

Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 11am. Unless we have back to back guests we can usually be a little flexible with those check in/out times.

My stay in 'Mid City' New Orleans, Louisiana was amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

Myself & 2 close friends of mine just recently had a 2 week stay in 'Mid City' New Orleans, Louisiana for nearly 2 weeks. We stayed in Jason's beautiful home & it was absolutely AMAZING! Jason is a wonderful host & his home is absolutely beautiful! Not only is his home beautiful, but his neighbors are wonderful as well, especially his neighbor directly next door, what a gem she is! We just loved her & we were so sad to say goodbye to her. When I go back (because I loved it so much, I know I will be visiting again) I will definitely be booking my stay with Jason. When we got there, Jason had a nice bottle of wine & a book waiting for us on the kitchen table explaining in detail all of the local places & restaurants to visit in the Mid City area, in The French Quarter & in New Orleans in general. That book helped us out quite a bit during our stay. The house was well accommodated with everything that we needed during our 2 week stay. The home is hard to explain without going on & on, you have to see it to believe how beautiful & charming it is. It just has that old 'New Orleans' feel to it & we felt right at home! I'd much rather rent a home than a hotel when I'm on vacation & I suppose that's because you get the feel of what it feels like to actually "live" in New Orleans! We got to hang with the locals & it was awesome. It was great because the French Quarter was literally a street car ride away & the street car picks you up right down the street, only a 5 minute walk away & it's only $1.25 to ride per person. Uber rides & taxis are all affordable as well, because you're not far from the french quarter at all, it's like 10 minutes away! & if you're visiting New Orleans, you must visit the French Quarter! The people, the history, the food, the area - It was all amazing! New Orleans truly is a Magical place! The cemeteries are beautiful! The bars are fun! Bourbon street is a blast! & at the end of the day we got to go home & sleep in the comfort of a beautiful (& air conditioned home) Yes, New Orleans is HOT & HUMID! You'll deff appreciate that air conditioning! I can't recommend Jason as a host enough!!! Trust me you will be pleased!!!

Jason (owner) was great! The property is charming and very close to the streetcar. Lots of local restaurants and shopping close by. Advertised as a two bedroom (actually has 3 beds). Damage deposit returned promptly. Thanks for a great stay in New Orleans!

Perfect location & great accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Jason is a great communicator & he answered all inquiries promptly. The house is larger than it appears on the listing & is situated in a quiet residential area. The beds, linens, towels, are top notch - in fact we all slept in a few mornings. The kitchen is well appointed & stocked with utensils, cookware, dishes, etc. Jason leaves an excellent local guide book that he compiled & we referred to it often. Trolley service is a short walk away on the City Park/Cemetery end of Canal. We used the trolley for service to downtown & the Garden district but found local venues in walking distance. Definitely visit G’s Pizza (a short walk on Bienville) while you are there. This rental is a fabulous find & we will definitely be back. Thanks Jason for another great NOLA-VRBO vacation.

Perfect Getaway in the best part of New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely home in Mid City. It is even nicer in person than in the photos and we found it very clean and well maintained. The master bedroom bed is large and extremely comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and enjoyable. We felt safe walking around to view the area and some of the beautiful homes. The interior felt private and welcoming and had everything we needed for our stay. Jason had fantastic communication and was very helpful with area recommendations, routes and advice. We would not hesitate to stay here again and hope to do so in the future.

The location was a HUGE plus! You are within walking distance to the beautiful 1300 acre City Park, which houses the art museum, botanical gardens, trails, green space, large 800+ year old majestic oak trees, water features and more. There are also a variety of restaurants within Mid City. We enjoyed dining at Vessel, a converted church with tons of ambiance and quality handcrafted small plates that opened last year. The cannolis and sweet cream gelato at Angelo Brocato's (since 1905!) were great and we also liked Mopho, a Vietnamese fusion restaurant. These are all very close to the house. A few of the cemeteries are not far from the house as well, an iconic and well known feature of New Orleans.

In just 8 minutes, you can be in the French Quarter via Canal street. As much as we enjoyed exploring the French Quarter, we are glad to have stayed in Mid City instead. It was a quiet respite that proved the perfect base of operations for our trip and it was wonderful to come home away from the bustle and noise of the city to wind down and recharge for the following eventful day. We ended up driving into the quarter and paying to park but you could also easily Uber or call a taxi if you didn't wish to do that. We were always able to secure a paid parking spot, even on the weekends. The parking can be pricey, typically $10/hour so be prepared.

As for food in the quarter, one of the greatest culinary experiences we have ever had was at Restaurant R'evolution. They have valet parking for $12. It is a bit pricey and more of a celebratory restaurant but the quality of the food and the service were stellar. Save room for the aerated creamy house made marshmallow ice cream. The crawfish stuffed frog legs and the sweetbreads are not to be missed. Reservations, especially on the weekend, would be a good idea. We also highly recommend Butcher. Thank you, Jason!

This is the only NOLA choice for us

  • 5 of 5

This house was as close to perfect as we could have asked for!! All the charm of nearly 100 years ago, with the conveniences we want for the here and now. A nice quiet neighborhood made it just what we needed for a long stopover.

When we're on these long road trips, we stop a couple of times for a few days. Mainly to unwind from driving 300-400 miles a day, and do some laundry.

When we arrived, we had a list of things to do, and quickly realized that we were gonna need an extra day. When I contacts Jason, he took care of all the "paperwork" and made it happen. He also left a couple of beers in the fridge for us as a welcome gift. That was very nice, and very much appreciated.

The only real issue I had was the shower. Maybe I just plain missed it somewhere, but the tub needs a mat in it. Sooner or later, someone is gonna slip on that slick tub, get hurt, and calll their lawyer. I would really hate to see that happen.

If anyone ever asks me where to stay, I will always recommend this house.

Welcoming home close to all the action!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for my trip to New Orleans. The home itself is very nice with plenty of room and comfortably furnished. It is close to City Park and some great places to grab a bite to eat. The best part is the proximity to the street car. Walk one block and the streetcar will whisk you directly to the French Quarter. Booking and check-in was simple and the host was very responsive.
