Traditional House With Pool And Great View!

Villa Gaia is a traditional stone built house, recently renovated (2008), located in a quiet area in the village Skouloufia, 18km away from Rethymno. The villa is built in one floor layout. On the exterior of the house, there is a big yard with a 25sqm swimming pool with sunchairs and umbrellas around it , a stone made barbecue and a garden. There is also a large veranda with a dining table covered by a pergola. The house has a spectacular view to the sea and the surrounding area, which the visitor can enjoy from the yard.
Ideally suitable for 5 people, there are three bedrooms in the Villa, all with view to the sea – one with double bed and terrace, one with semi-double bed and terrace and one with twin beds. A baby cot is also provided to the guests.
The house has a spacious dining and living room, traditionally decorated, with a fireplace and a smart satellite TV with a Blueray player and an open plan fully equipped kitchen. There is also one bathroom with W/C, and hydro massage bath.
All of the rooms are fully air conditioned. The combination of the air conditioning, the fireplace and the sun heating makes the house suitable for all the seasons of the year.
There are many villages with tavernas, mini markets and pharmacies nearby, as well as many historical sightseeing like the Arkadi monastery (8kms away) and the ancient Eleytherna (7kms away). The nearest beach is only 6 km away from the villa, in the village Stavromenos.

Really wonderful place

Thank you so much for the great hosting, we had such a fantastic time (especially thanks a lot for the nice surprise regarding the delicious meal on our first day, the cute gifts and the helpful recommendations). We loved the pool and the house offered everything we needed. Our favourite beach was only 15 minutes away by car and we really enjoyed the hiking spots (montain Psiloritis, Samaria canyon), which were also easy to get there by car. The nearest city Rethymno also was so beautiful. And a sweet highlight on top: every day we had two little guests (two lovely cats) which visited us, we fell in love with both of them.

Fantastic property

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful villa. Our host could not be more accommodating. From a lovely cooked meal for our arrival as we were late to the package of local goodies and home made cake and also booking recommended restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return and highly recommended if you want a peaceful vacation

Fantastic house.

Perfect holiday home

Beautiful villa in a small village and extremely friendly hosts!!! We arrived late in the evening and we were greeted with a lovely cooked dinner and a cake! Great house with warm welcome

We are a family of 4 and we really did enjoyed our stay in this very well equiped house. Zacharias and his family took care about us. We felt like at home. They have prepared very nice surprises. Nice location in a quiet place, 20 minutes to Rethimnon. We recommand it to you!

Villa Gaia

Very friendly welcome by the owner, with welcome local products and home cooked meal. Villa equipped with all we needed and very spacious for the two of us. Pool and garden well maintained. Garden / pool partially overlooked by nabouring villa, but otherwise very private and the other villa was not occupied the week we were there. Many welcoming local shops and taverners in the area, but not within walking distance. Also many local beaches and other places to visit within a 30 minuit drive.

Our week in Crete

Lovely place to stay! Comfortable, clean, well kept property. Property manager was so welcoming and helpful. On arrival there was a full, prepared meal for us, as well as home made bread! Additionally, there were all essentials such as bottled water, milk, juice, butter, and jam for breakfast the next morning. Beds and linens were excellent, and plenty of towels for the bath and pool. Pool and landscaping were lovely, and surrounding area was very scenic. We had a great stay, and suggestion from the manager led us to a few fabulous restaurants, that we would never have found on our own. Highly recommend this property!!

Amazing experience at Crete

It has been an incredible stay. The house has all the amenities one needs and more to be comfortable. It's beautiful and has great views. It's within a short distance of some beautiful and warm beaches. The hosts are some of the best I've ever encountered, incredibly friendly and helpful, always attentive to anything we might need. They welcomed us with a breakfast that saved us since our flight arrived very early. The pool is perfect for the size of the house and allows for a peaceful day without the need to go out. They recommended places to eat that made a difference in our visit to the island. I definitely recommend them 100%. Thank you for contributing to make our vacation special.

A fantastic home from home

Zacharias met us at the villa as planned when we arrived and communicated swiftly if we had any questions within our stay. The villa has everything you need and more, the owners have thought of everything. It was spotless clean and on arrival there was a homemade cake, food for a meal, olive oil, bread, milk etc, everything you could need before going to the shops the next day. The location is rural but close enough to the main road which stretches across the North of Crete to explore. The swimming pool and views from the villa are stunning and the flowers/plants around the villa also add to making this feeling like a secluded Mediterranean destination. A car is essential, beaches are within a 15 minute car journey and many other sites to see are close by. Would definitely return as Gaia Villa is beautiful, and the hosts are very thoughtful and kind.

Stunning Property

Our family stayed here for 2 weeks in August. The host meet us on arrival even though it was quite late. After a tour of the property we were presented with possibly the best welcome pack we’ve ever had at a Vrbo rental, and we’ve stayed at quite a few. A home cooked meal for us all, a home made cake, water,milk bread,wine. Inside the property was very well furnished, beds were comfortable, large dining table, 2 good sized sofas. The kitchen was well equipped, with plenty of plates and bowls, glasses and cups. Outside the property was equally well appointed with a large table and chairs, sun beds and parasols. The pool was a good size and plenty warm enough for us. Surrounding the patio and pool area were lots of well maintained shrubs covered in flowers. It is situated approximately 15 minutes drive from the cost, so a car is essential. Overall we loved it here and would love to come back.

A quiet, but warmly supported villa in the Rethymno hills

The owner/managers, Zacharias and Ioannis, are wonderful hosts! They met us on arrival and brought frequent treats. They are very accessible if you have any questions. The villa is very well located, in the hills above and a bit east of Rethymno, our favorite city on Crete. The villa is close to the new Eleutherna archeological museum, the Arkadi Monastery, numerous olive oil mills and wineries, and many enchanting villages. It is quiet, but only a few minutes away from restaurants and supermarkets in Stavromenos. The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, a washer (clothes dry on a portable rack), comfortable bedrooms. Interior finishes and exterior landscaping and hardscapes are excellent. We were here in November, and so didn't use the pool. The outside patio/dining area will be very inviting during the warmer months. The internet is reliable, although the signal might be on the weak side in the bedrooms. We would certainly return here on a future visit to Crete!

Nice stay in Crete

We booked the Villa Gaia during the first week of September for four people. The Villa looks exactly like shown in the pictures on the website. The landlord and his family are very nice people and were helpful the whole time. The property offers a parking space, a small garden with a pool and a veranda where you can enjoy your evenings and have a good time. The equipment of the household was great. You can reach a local Taverna within 15 minutes by foot, which is very recommendable. We had a rental car, what is necessary for activities and trips. The location is great, because you can reach the big cities like Chania and Heraklion within one hour and the beautiful city of Rethymno is just a few kilometers away. Also the next big supermarket is just a few kilometers away. You should also visit Preveli-Beach (1 hour by car) We have been there for 7 full days, which is enough to see most of the well-known spots on Crete. All in all we had a great stay in Crete and especially at Villa Gaia, which we can recommend for every type of vacationer.

Impressive

Our flight landed a very late on Sunday in Chania airport. We got into the car and drove 1.5 hours to the house. Night driving in Greece is special experience but all vent very smooth, GPS was doing great job in leading us, no mistakes. All shops and restaurants were closed due to late timing but luckily for us the owner of the house (Zack) has prepared amazing food and drinks for us to make sure that no one is left hungry in his house. The house and the owner (Zack) gave very positive impression, actually the house looks much better compared to the pictures. There are 3 sleeping rooms which are all equipped with the air conditioners. Living room is big enough and its combined with the kitchen which is also equipped with the aircon unit. Kitchen has all you need including dishwasher. It’s very easy to adapt to the house from inside and outside. Outside area is nicer and bigger compared to the pictures. Outside you get the parking place, swimming pool area, big table covered by the roof and the barbeque charcoal grill. During the stay we had no issues in this lovely house. Zack is very client minded person who was very supportive and helpful. Very good job by Zack and his team in maintaining this fantastic place. Thanks for positive atmosphere and good luck in the future.

Wir sind sehr begeistert von dem Haus, dem Blick , aber vor allem auch von dem Vermieter! Super Kommunikation und ein sehr willkommener Empfang. Im Haus wurde ein selbst gebackener Kuchen , Wein , Öl, bereitgestellt und noch so einiges mehr. Es war eine komplette Mahlzeit vorbereitet und wir danken nochmals sehr herzlich für alles! Der Aufenthalt im Außenbereich ist unbezahlbar schön. Wir können einfachnur sehr gutes schreiben. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder herkommen. Ein riesengroßes Dankeschön an den Vermieter, der auch sofort , nach einem WLAN Ausfall , reagiert hat und alles schnell in Ordnung bringen ließ !!!! Lieben Dank für die erholsame Zeit

Geweldig vrijstaande villa met heerlijk zwembad. Was precies zoals in de beschrijving.Kontakt met Giannis was uiterst plezierig. Konden na aankomst op Kreta er direkt in. Hij ontving ons zeer hartelijk en kwam later ook nog persoonlijk afscheid nemen.Bij aankomst stond er ook al een warme maaltijd klaar in de koelkast, lekkere souvlaki met salade en rijst gemaakt door moeder.Heerlijk zwembad met ligbedden en een fijne buitendouche erbij. S'ochtendsvroeg een duik of aan het eind van de dag na een lange wandeling.Wij hebben tijdens het gehele verblijf buiten gegeten onder de veranda, geweldig. Voor het slapen even de airco's in de slaapkamers aan, ideaal. Bedden waren voor ons prima, niet te hard/zacht.Keuken was prima met grote koel-vries combinatie. Met 5 volwassenen erg handig. Alles werkte naar behoren.Koffiezetapparaat bleek een vergiet, maar er stond al een nieuwe klaar dezelfde dag!2e week werd er nog extra schoongemaakt en bedlinnen gewisseld. Daarnaast s'avonds laat hangen voor de Smart TV, wij hadden een Chromecast mee om te streamen, het internet bleek snel genoeg .Villa ligt redelijk centraal, 20 minuten van Rethymno anderhalf uur van Chania met de auto. Stranden dichtbij. Zuidelijke stranden op ruim een uur rijden. Genoeg supermarkten in de buurt (10 minuten).Kortom een perfect verblijf met een fijne host. Echte aanrader!

Erholung pur in einem TOP Ferienhaus

Ein liebevoll und komplett ausgestattetes Ferienhaus, in dem es an nichts fehlt. Die Küche ist top ausgestattet, alles ist sauber und in hervorragendem Zustand. Die Gastgeber sind wirklich Gastgeber und keine Vermieter – perfekte Kommunikation per Mail, Handy und WhatsApp. Ein idealer Ausgangspunkt, um die Insel mit einem Mietwagen zu erkunden. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

Top Ferienhaus

Die Villa Gaia ist ein sehr schön gelegenes Ferienobjekt, in einer ruhigen Lage und mit einem wunderbaren Blick. Wir haben eine außergewöhnliche Ankunft mit selbstgekochten kretischen Abendessen erleben dürfen, und sogar für das erste Frühstück wurde gesorgt. Der Vermieter war immer für uns erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Er hat uns viele gute Tipps für die Umgebung gegeben. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen.

Perfekter Urlaub

Wir haben schon öfters Häuser in südlichen Ländern gemietet aber bisher noch nie ein dermaßen perfekt ausgestattetes Haus vorgefunden! Die Vermieter sind sehr reizend und wir wurden (kamen spät abends an) empfangen mit einem selbstgekochten Abendessen, selbstgebackenem Kuchen, Allem was man für das erste Frühstück benötigt und weit darüber hinaus (Kaffee, Brot, Butter, Marmelade, Milch, Orangensaft, Wasser, 1 Bier usw!) und Willkommensgeschenken (Rotwein, Raki und Olivenöl). In diesem Haus hat überhaupt gar nichts gefehlt! Jeder Raum hat eine separat regulierbare Klimaanlage, vor sämtliche Fenster kann man stabile Fliegengitter ziehen und nach einer Woche kommt die Reinigungskraft, putzt und wechselt die Handtücher und die Bettwäsche. Das Mobiliar am Pool ist in hervorragendem Zustand und sogar Grillkohle war vorhanden. Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war jederzeit über WhatsApp gegeben und sehr freundlich! Das Haus liegt ca. 10 Autominuten von der Küste entfernt. Man sollte aber schon ein Auto haben und die Ruhe mögen (wir haben es geliebt!). Alles in allem schließen wir uns den hervorragenden Bewertungen unserer Vorgänger an und können dieses Haus und seine Vermieter nur Jedem wärmstens empfehlen!

Tolles Ferienhaus in ruhiger Lage

Sehr schönes Landhaus mit reichlich Platz für 5 Personen. Es ist alles da, was benötigt wird. Das Haus verfügt über volle Air-condition. Der Gastgeber ist super lieb! Wir kamen um 23 Uhr an und wurden herzlich begrüßt, sogar mit einem fertigen Abendessen und Frühstück für den nächsten Tag. Also alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen!

Wunderschöne Unterkunft

Die Gastgeber sind sehr aufgeschlossen und sympathisch. Von den An- und Abreisezeiten sind sie sehr flexibel. Hier ist eine spontane Änderung der Ankunft kein Problem. Das Haus an sich war sehr gepflegt und befindet sich in einer ruhigen Lage. Alles was man braucht ist vorhanden. Wir hatten einen schönen Urlaub und können die Unterkunft nur weiter empfehlen.

Für uns, ein perfektes Haus. Ruhig gelegen, Blick auf das Meer. In den Bergen, perfekt zum radfahren. Das Haus toll ausgestattet, Klimaanlage, imsektenschutz vor allen Fenstern, gute Betten und optisch sehr schön und stylisch. Schöne Aussenanlage, Blumen, Kräuter, Terassen und Pool. Super Service der Gastgeber, gefüllter Kühlschrank, komplettes starter Menü für Tag 1 plus Getränke.

The villa is built at the edge of a traditional village surrounded by olives, oaks and Cretan herbs.On the exterior of the villa there is a beautiful garden where is also the swimming pool which has a size of 25 sq m, with sun chairs and umbrellas around. Also a stone made barbecue and a nice veranda covered with a wooden pergola with beautiful views to the countryside The house is located in a very quiet place, which is still near the beach and the city of Rethymno, but also close to important sight seeings like the Arcadi Monastery and the ancient city of Eleytherna, and the museum of Ancient Eleytherna. Villa Gaia is ideal for families, couples and individuals who would like to feel the independence and the real Cretan village life.
