Northern Lights Condos is a privately owned and operated nine-unit condominium complex situated on the edge of the ocean on Grand Cayman's quiet north coast. The beauty and comfort of these units are only matched by their natural surroundings; 240 feet of sandy beach, a coral reef teeming with marine life only 75 feet from the shore, five of the island's most virgin dive sites within swimming distance, and a panoramic view of 10 miles of coastline.
The buildings are tucked away amongst the native palms, sea-grape and almond trees, which often provide a home for the Cayman parrot (a protected species). Each unit has a view of the ocean, pool, dock and cabana. The level of comfort and tranquility found at Northern Lights makes this the perfect place to perfect the art of 'relaxation'.

My name is Bo Miller and I'd like to
welcome you to Northern Lights condos on Cayman's north-coast.
I am the developer of Nothern Lights condos. I designed, built and decorated the units in which you will enjoy your vacation.
I was born just 1 mile down the street in Old Man Bay where my great grandfather was one of the original settlers of the area 300+years ago. My father, grandfather and great grand father were all builders of both sailing vessels and homes. These boats were built on the Miller's beach (Jackey's bay). just a few hundred yards from Northern lights.
After a career in the financial services business I diversified and returned home to do a small development in the early 1990s. I live on property and it is my pleasure to greet my guests and explain the history, present and future plans of this area and the country. There are very few if any native Caymanians who are hosts in the tourism business today as the dynamics of labour have changed profoundly in the past 20 years.
I look forward to welcoming you and enjoying a conversation.
Bo Miller purchased this condo in 2000
Owner manages the rental units, property is very quiet.
My family and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at NL. Not only was the property clean and spacious for our party of 4, the price was much better than similar properties on the island and is extremely well stocked/appointed. Justin and Maureen took care of everything needed to make our check in and check out painless and efficient, and the welcome basket was a pleasant surprise that knocked several staples of our arrival shopping list. The location on the quiet side of the island was actually a plus for us - having a beach and pool w/o the insanity of the crowds on seven mile beach was much more relaxing than our previous stays on Grand Cayman, and the drive wasn't bad at all for the times we when we did go to Georgetown or 7MB for restaurants or activities. We actually enjoyed the opportunity to checkout the restaurants and activities on the north and east sides of the island. All in all, my family rated NL condo the best place we've stayed in the 8 years we've been coming to the Caribbean for the holidays
My wife and I have stayed at Northern Lights for two to four weeks during the summer almost every year for over a decade.
The descriptions and pictures on the web site are accurate. The appearance in reality is as lovely as shown in the in the photos. The air conditioning is good.
The condo has all the amenities described on the web site. It is always spotless when we arrive. The owner, who lives in the condo next to the one we rent, has been very helpful and accommodating.
There are a handful of good restaurants within a 15 minute drive (you need to rent a car), but we rarely eat out.
The main attraction for us is the nearby reef where we snorkel. The reef can be reached from the dock in about a minute's swim and can be followed in water shallow enough to stand for at least half a mile. A couple years ago we recorded seeing over 100 varieties of fish and other marine life (not counting the many corals). If you are a scuba diver, it is feasible to swim from the dock to three of the island's best dive sites, but we have not tried that.
Another attraction for us is that it is very quiet. During the summer, it is not unusual for us to look out at the water, or be in the water, and see no other people. We have brought our grown children and other guests from time to time. They have all enjoyed it.
The beach between the condo property and the water is sandy but only about ten feet wide. There is sharp rock in the water so that you would not want to go in with bare feet. The entry to the water from the dock, however, is easy and convenient. We always wear flippers for snorkeling when we go in.
We would recommend Northern Lights enthusiastically for anyone who likes beauty, serenity, and quiet. It's ideal for lovers -- but not great for small children.
We searched and searched before deciding to rent the Northern Lights condo for our Dec 23 - Jan 7 2012 vacation and we choose the perfect place!! The condo is lovely (wish we lived in it full time) and it felt like a home, not a vacation rental as it has lots and lots of personal touches to it. The condo was fully stocked and we never missed or had to search for anything as everything we needed was provided. We loved the screened in Lanai's and bbqing outdoors for our evening meals.
It is in a great location as we were minutes away from Run Point and only 50 mins from Seven Mile beach and all the action of Georgetown. Has great reasonablly priced places to eat close by (Over the Edge and Kurts Corner), close to the East End which had a smaller grocery store, restaurant, liquor store as well as a souvenier store. There was even great snorkelling right out back and my kids enjoyed the nice shallow waters to snorkel the reef there.
Bo and Catherine were friendly, helpful and always had a moment to converse and a few good stories and info on the island to share. We loved this place as much as we loved Grand Cayman and it was our first vacation when nobody in our family wanted to come home.
So very glad we found such a great place in such a great location as being there over the holidays we knew it would be busy and even after a busy day at Seven mile beach we had privacy and solitude to look forward to heading back to and the days there were lots of cruise ships in port we did not even need to go near the crowds as we were close to everything else.
Thanks again Bo for your hospitality and for answering each and every question we had prior to our arrival............hopefully we will see you again soon!!
My husband & I had the wonderful experience of staying for two weeks this past December at Northern Lights .Our arrival was at night in a rain storm. Bo greeted us with a lantern to light our way.He had a welcome sign on our door with a holiday wreath. My husband is an avid cyclist and East End was perfect for his rides. We enjoyed the pool, grilling, alfresco dining and sunsets at the dock. The condo was very well appointed. The view of the beach and ocean from downstairs was only surpassed by the view from the master bedroom. We enjoyed being close to good restaurants: Over The Edge, Tukka, Lighthouse, & Kaibo BBQ music & dancing. The WiFi & phone worked great. This was our 5th trip to Grand Cayman and by far the best. We thank Bo for sharing his slice of paradise with us! Cathy & Virgil from Arkansas.
Northern Lights is exactly what we were hoping it would be. Very laid back, no crowds, we were the only ones there for our first 7 days, and the condo is as described in the VRBO pictures. Bo, the owner, is a great host, fun and interesting to talk to, and available to help you out with any of your needs or questions. As others have mentioned, Bo can provide some great stories about growing up on the island, and how he sees it evolving in the future. Besides relaxing, one of our key interests in our vacation was snorkeling, and we were not disappointed. From the first day, hitting the reef right out the back door, we were impressed with the health of the reef and variety of life on it. Further snorkeling explorations around the island, including Cemetery Beach, Eden Rock, the Devil’s Grotto, the Wreck of the Cali, and the gotta-do Stingray City tour, were all great. We were lucky to have great weather and clear water our entire stay. For dinners out, we enjoyed Over the Edge for fresh seafood cooked Caribbean style, Kaibo for the Tues night all-you-can-eat BBQ, and Tukka for a little more extravagance. We even hit Vivine’s, which is a very local restaurant, attached to Vivine’s house/kitchen. Talk about authentic local food – just like mom would have made if she was Cayman. Wouldn’t recommend it for all, but if you want to try something a little of the wall, this is it. If you get a windy day, the Blow Holes is worth a stop. Alan, a local Obama look-alike, sets up shop across the street and can give you an informative tour of the blow-holes and surrounding area, for whatever amount you feel you want to tip him. I’m looking forward to the next time we can visit Grand Cayman, and we’ll definitely try to use Northern Lights as our home away from home.
Paradise awaits you in this cool, clean, well stocked gem located away from the hustle and bustle. The owner and housekeeper are just a phone call away if you need anything. Our family of four found this condo to be everything we had read about on VRBO. We will recommend this condo to friends and family. Thank you to the owner for your hospitality and for sharing your slice of paradise with us. :)
Recommendations to those who stay at Northern Lights Condo- Over the Edge Restaurant, located in Old Man (about 5 min from the condo) has great food and friendly staff.
Snorkeling in Georgetown at the Paradise Restaurant on S. Church St.- we spotted 4 foot Tarpon, an Octopus and gorgeous reef and reef fish in this spot.
Nearby attractions include; the world famous Stingray City, shore dive sites the Babylon, Mermaid’s Point, Skinny Palm Tree Reef and many more, the sea side village of Old Man Bay, the island’s only botanic park, where visitors can view native flora and fauna such as the indigenous Blue Iguana and Silver Thatch Palm. The Mastic Trail a nature trail that follows the historic overland route.
