Grand Cayman Northern Lights Beachfront Villa

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Northern Lights Condos is a privately owned and operated nine-unit condominium complex situated on the edge of the ocean on Grand Cayman's quiet north coast. The beauty and comfort of these units are only matched by their natural surroundings; 240 feet of sandy beach, a coral reef teeming with marine life only 75 feet from the shore, five of the island's most virgin dive sites within swimming distance, and a panoramic view of 10 miles of coastline.

The buildings are tucked away amongst the native palms, sea-grape and almond trees, which often provide a home for the Cayman parrot (a protected species). Each unit has a view of the ocean, pool, dock and cabana. The level of comfort and tranquility found at Northern Lights makes this the perfect place to perfect the art of 'relaxation'.

About Justin and Maureen Miller

My name is Justin Miller and I'd like to welcome you to Northern Lights condos on Cayman's north-coast; a place I've known since a young boy while my father designed and developed the property.

My dad was born just 1 mile down the street in Old Man Bay, where his great grandfather was one of the original settlers of the area 300+years ago. My great grandfather, like his father, was a builder of both sailing vessels and homes. These boats were built on the Miller's beach (Jackey's bay) just a few hundred yards from Northern lights.

My wife Maureen and I recently took over the management of unit 6 and try to continue a long family legacy of Cayman hospitality. When we can steal away from busy Seven Mile, we bring our two young kids up to enjoy this special slice of heaven.

Justin and Maureen Miller purchased this condo in 2000

Why Justin and Maureen Miller chose North Side

Owner manages the rental units, property is very quiet.

What a fabulous vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week at Northern Lights and had a GREAT time! The townhouse was everything we had hoped for and more. Thanks to Justin and Maureen for providing such a clean, well stocked home away from home. Everything we needed was there. It was very quiet and relaxing. Close to several restaurant such as Tukka, Kurt's Korner and Over The Edge, which was our favorite. Short drive to Rum Beach which offered good snorkeling, Star Fish Beach, Stingray Island tour and more. The best snorkeling for us was Smith's Cove and right in front of the Northern Lights townhouse. We did ride to Seven Mile beach for a day and that was fun, but am glad we decided to stay on the "quiet" side of the island. It was one of our best vacations yet! Would definitely recommend Grand Cayman Island and Northern Lights.

We have been coming to cayman for 25 years. After staying on 7 mile beach, which got to built up, we found this little piece of paradise. We have been coming here for 10 years and cant imagine staying anywhere else. The condo is the perfect location, the best snorkling and diving right out your front door. Every window looks out into the sea and the hammock on the upstairs patio is total relaxation as you listen to the waves of the sea. There is everything in the condo you need to have the best vacationof your life. All you need to bring is your clothes. The boat dock is the perfect spot for looking for fish, fishing, or just being lazy and reading a book. We hope you have as great a time as we did and we will be back..we cant stay away.

Owner's Response: Penny and Basil! Thank you so much for continuing to choose Northern Lights #6. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your love for the place with others. We hope to carry on the legacy Bo started, with true Cayman hospitality, and make it a place visitors can return to year after year and consider a home away from home, as you both do. You have really seen our family grow over the years - and perhaps someday it will be Bo's grandkids greeting you at the door to welcome you 'home'. What a great summary of all that makes this spot so special. Looking forward to seeing you again next year. Maureen & Justin

Relaxing getaway

Northern Lights delivers another week of fun. We love the easy access to snorkeling right off the dock. Easy snorkel for beginners and there is so much to see. We went for a week away from hectic, busy work schedules and enjoyed our time there very much. Space is great. The screened in porch areas are wonderful for sitting outside without the worry of bugs.we look forward to another trip soon.

Thanks for everything.!!!

Northern Lights Condo

My family and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at NL. Not only was the property clean and spacious for our party of 4, the price was much better than similar properties on the island and is extremely well stocked/appointed. Justin and Maureen took care of everything needed to make our check in and check out painless and efficient, and the welcome basket was a pleasant surprise that knocked several staples of our arrival shopping list. The location on the quiet side of the island was actually a plus for us - having a beach and pool w/o the insanity of the crowds on seven mile beach was much more relaxing than our previous stays on Grand Cayman, and the drive wasn't bad at all for the times we when we did go to Georgetown or 7MB for restaurants or activities. We actually enjoyed the opportunity to checkout the restaurants and activities on the north and east sides of the island. All in all, my family rated NL condo the best place we've stayed in the 8 years we've been coming to the Caribbean for the holidays

Review of Northern Lights

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed at Northern Lights for two to four weeks during the summer almost every year for over a decade.

The descriptions and pictures on the web site are accurate. The appearance in reality is as lovely as shown in the in the photos. The air conditioning is good.

The condo has all the amenities described on the web site. It is always spotless when we arrive. The owner, who lives in the condo next to the one we rent, has been very helpful and accommodating.

There are a handful of good restaurants within a 15 minute drive (you need to rent a car), but we rarely eat out.

The main attraction for us is the nearby reef where we snorkel. The reef can be reached from the dock in about a minute's swim and can be followed in water shallow enough to stand for at least half a mile. A couple years ago we recorded seeing over 100 varieties of fish and other marine life (not counting the many corals). If you are a scuba diver, it is feasible to swim from the dock to three of the island's best dive sites, but we have not tried that.

Another attraction for us is that it is very quiet. During the summer, it is not unusual for us to look out at the water, or be in the water, and see no other people. We have brought our grown children and other guests from time to time. They have all enjoyed it.

The beach between the condo property and the water is sandy but only about ten feet wide. There is sharp rock in the water so that you would not want to go in with bare feet. The entry to the water from the dock, however, is easy and convenient. We always wear flippers for snorkeling when we go in.

We would recommend Northern Lights enthusiastically for anyone who likes beauty, serenity, and quiet. It's ideal for lovers -- but not great for small children.

A great place in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We searched and searched before deciding to rent the Northern Lights condo for our Dec 23 - Jan 7 2012 vacation and we choose the perfect place!! The condo is lovely (wish we lived in it full time) and it felt like a home, not a vacation rental as it has lots and lots of personal touches to it. The condo was fully stocked and we never missed or had to search for anything as everything we needed was provided. We loved the screened in Lanai's and bbqing outdoors for our evening meals.

It is in a great location as we were minutes away from Run Point and only 50 mins from Seven Mile beach and all the action of Georgetown. Has great reasonablly priced places to eat close by (Over the Edge and Kurts Corner), close to the East End which had a smaller grocery store, restaurant, liquor store as well as a souvenier store. There was even great snorkelling right out back and my kids enjoyed the nice shallow waters to snorkel the reef there.

Bo and Catherine were friendly, helpful and always had a moment to converse and a few good stories and info on the island to share. We loved this place as much as we loved Grand Cayman and it was our first vacation when nobody in our family wanted to come home.

So very glad we found such a great place in such a great location as being there over the holidays we knew it would be busy and even after a busy day at Seven mile beach we had privacy and solitude to look forward to heading back to and the days there were lots of cruise ships in port we did not even need to go near the crowds as we were close to everything else.

Thanks again Bo for your hospitality and for answering each and every question we had prior to our arrival............hopefully we will see you again soon!!
