About Cody Nagle

We are a family of five who live nearby on a hobby farm. We raise KuneKune pigs for pets and pork. The cabin was recently purchased as a future retirement home for my mother. Until she is ready for that, we want to share our space with others!

Perfect sound getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation here. The pictures really don't do it justice. The quaint cottage is perfectly maintained and every detail has been thought about to make your stay perfect. Take a step into the cottage and you are transformed to another time with no worries and surrounded by nature at its best. We spent our time enjoying the cool breezes off the sound either in the waterfront hammock or on the dock, listening to the birds or watching the aquatic wildlife. Our entire family enjoyed our stay and we can't wait to return. Thank you Cody for sharing this wonderful retreat and ensuring our stay was a great one!

This cottage was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet place to get away from a busy lifestyle. The cottage was very comfortable and provided everything we needed.

Nice quiet location on the water but away from the OBX crowds. Well situated for canoeing or kayaking and also heading to the outer banks. Loved our stay and the environs. Owner was terrific.

Water front cottage

  • 5 of 5

The Barco cottage is a genuine treasure. It's equipped with everything one could possibly need plus more. I stayed there for Thanksgiving and cooked up the whole feast. Beautiful water front property that's close enough to venture to the outer banks for day trips. I hope to stay again in the warmer weather to take advantage of the water sports.

Very peaceful. Very relaxing. Very remote.

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Barca Cottage quite a bit. Waking up in the mornings, and having coffee on the dock was one of our favorite things. Coinjock is very peaceful and very remote, which makes for a relaxing trip.

The cottage was very rustic. The old walls and old floors made me feel like there is some history to the place, hence the title of the cottage. However, even though it was old, the place has still been touched with a hint of modern through some of the decorating and amenities. That was nice.

It was also great having grill there available for use. We grilled out most nights, and the weather in October was perfect for being outside.

If you are looking for a place that is out of the way from all of the touristy things, and very quiet, I would definitely recommend this cottage.

We only had a couple of drawbacks in staying here for the week. If you wanted to go anywhere, wether it be the store, or the beach, or anything for some entertainment, you had to do some traveling, which may be a positive to some. We just like staying closer to things.

We also experienced a gnat problem. I am sure it is just part of where the cottage is located, but it seemed that there were always gnats flying around, wherever we were in the house. It wasn't enough for us to want to leave, but it was somewhat annoying.

There were some other things, but I wouldn't say they are worth writing in the review, because they didn't take away from our stay, or they were just personal things.

All of these things considered, the beauty of the location, and just the relaxation were enough to bring us up to 4 stars. I would definitely recommend this place to people looking to stay in the area.

We enjoyed our stay in the Historic Barco Cottage.

Owner's Response: Mr. Miles, I am very disappointed to read that your stay was not up to your expectations. I would have loved to hear personally from you about any issues you experienced during or after your stay as those are helpful to me in order to make my home more accommodating. The issue with ‘gnats’ is quite surprising as I have never heard this, and I will definitely have my regular pest control company check this out. I take pride in the home that I present to my guests, and part of the charm and desirability is my personal availability for any issues! Please be sure in the future to let your host know of any issues you experience during your stay. Thanks Cody
