Magical Manton Lodge

My week at Manton Lodge was perfect! The accommodations were lovely and very clean. The bedroom opened up to an amazing terraced garden with a place to sit and enjoy the view of the fields beyond. I highly recommend staying at Manton Lodge it was one of the highlights of my trip to England❤️

Country Haven

Everything I could have wished for, and more! The gardens are beautiful and full of inspiration- a great place to luxuriate and rest, AND a great base for exploring the area! Charming country house of stone, climbing roses, sheep and horses in surrounding pastures….what more could an escape have to offer? Thank you both so much for your warmth and hospitality!

Manson Memories

This was our third visit and we hope to go again next year. We were given a warm welcome and enjoyed our relationship with everyone. The gardens were up to their usual splendour and it was a pleasure to talk to the gardener once again. If I say that even the swallows welcomed us back then there could be no better place to be when in Rutland

Fabulous place to visit

My husband I stayed here for 12 days in July, 2017. I was very pleased when we arrived.The pictures are exactly what you get. Beautiful flowers, gorgeous landscaping and such a peaceful place. Mrs. Atkins is a lovely person, very personable. We truly wished it wasn't time to move on. Sad to know we will not see Mrs. Atkins or her beautiful place again.

Rest full Rutland

The property was very much as advertised and provided all we needed. On arrival we were able to use the main drive down to the lowest level above the lovely garden to unload our luggage and the park our car at the higher level behind the main house. We do not cook on holiday so always eat out at the nearest pub. In this case, The Horse and Jockey Inn, at Manton, proved to be very acceptable. Uppingham, Oakham and Rutland Water, with their numerous places of interest provided plenty of walks.

Return visit

Everything wonderful as before especially the weather and garden. This is an excellent area close to bird sanctuaries golf course etc. Fish and chips on a Tuesday is a must.! Thank you all for a restful week. We shall return. Malcolm and Jean. . .

A place to breathe and relax

We booked for our parents from France in case of isolation rules. Chosen for garden and walks for them. Perfect. Hugh couldnt have been more helpful throughout.

We stayed for 59 nights as we live in a lodge on a holiday park, as such we have to move off

We were very pleased with the ground floor apartment and the furnishings provided. The hosts were very friendly and allowed us access to walks around the farm. The views are stunning and there are plenty of places to visit. All in all a very pleasant stay.

A beautiful spacious apartment in a delightful location. The apartment has plenty of room and the kitchen is very well appointed. There are wonderful views over open countryside.

great location

very clean, fantastic views, great locationfor summer retreat not quite so good for winter retreat reasons for this not very comfortable to sit and watch tv as only has 2 chairs in kitchen with small tv on the wall and the owner has full control of the heating so if you come back early place is cold and have tofind owner to put heating on (very warm and cosy once on though ) wouldbe a great place in the summer with the long warm evenings to sit outside amongst the wild life

Disappointing and a little baffling to receive such a negative sounding review, as when the guests left they were all smiles and said it had been "marvellous"!Even when asked if there was anything I needed to know the answer was no. The heating was set to the timings they had requested, it would have been cosy hot when they went out in the morning. One day they came back at 3.30 on a sunny afternoon and requested the heating to be turned on. It was never "cold"! The accommodation and photo's are as described on the website, two armchairs and two dining chairs would seem sufficient for two people. We could perhaps look at the possibility of a larger TV. On happier note I would like to thank them for leaving it is such a clean and tidy state

A lovely flat, well placed to explore Rutland.

We actually stayed in both flats at Manton Lodge Farm and both were clean, comfortable and well equipped. Some lovely old furniture mixed with comfortable beds and chairs and modern TVs and appliances. WiFi worked well. There were extensive views over the beautiful gardens and surrounding scenery. There was a good pub/restaurant within walking distance and it was easy to access Rutland water and nearby towns. We enjoyed meeting Caroline and her family who where friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Rutland and Manton Lodge Farm for both a short break and a longer holiday. There is plenty to do; cycling and walking around Rutland Water, a trip on the Rutland Belle, Open air Shakespeare at Stamford, Barnsdale gardens as well as plenty of historic houses, museums and pubs. We had a great week.

Lovely position, comfortable bed and everything you need

Excellent position for walking to local pub and onwards to Rutland Waters. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the upstairs residents were quite noisy which disturbed our slightly noise sensitive dog. Overall would recommend and visit again

Lovely stay - even better than the photos and description

This property is a delightful gem in the Rutland countryside. Well equipped and comfortable, the flat has lovely views of the gardens and surrounding countryside and the proximity to Rutland Water was excellent.

Peaceful Break

Although the weather could have been considerable kinder, the accommodation was comfortable and homely. The bathroom was superb and the very large double bed was extremely comfortable. The apartment was well apppointed and the host was available if required. The central heating was efficient and the place was very clean. It was an ideal base from which to explore Rutland and we would recommend it to other holiday-makers.

Idyllic Getaway

Have just come back from a week close to Rutland Water and I want to say how delighted we were with our accommodation in the Garden Apartment at Manton Lodge Farm. We were immediately hit by the magnificant views across the valley from the sitting room and bedroom windows and the glorious gardens around the house abundant with spring flowers. The apartment was all we could wish for with a well equipt kitchen and cosy sitting room. The spacious bedroom and bathroom was also a bonus. There are plenty of interesting walks around Rutland Water and if interested in sailing there was plenty going on at the Rutland Sailing Club. Also of great interest were the Barnsdale Gardens where we spent some 4-5 hours. If you like the great outdoors and self catering in a natural country setting do give Manton Lodge a try. You will get a warm welcome.

Recommended!

We (my wife and I) stayed in the apartment 'Valley view' for a week. An attractively furnished apartment, that met the description. A very friendly welcome by Mrs Burnaby-Atkins. The view from the apartment is lovely: the garden below and the valley further on. We made long cycling trips in the surroundings. The roads and trails were largely well suited for. We visited Stamford (nice place) and Rutland waters In summery: we had a great stay in this apartment and we recommend it!

A beautiful & relaxing stay

Everything was exactly like the pictures. We stayed with our very old dog in tow in the Valley View apartment that definitely lived up to its name, rolling country side views from all the windows and a most spectacular well stocked garden that was a pleasure to stroll around. The apartment was well furnished and very clean. Kitchen was small but functional for a short break, missed not having a full cooker but gave us a good excuse to eat out! The huge comfy bed gave us some good nights sleep too. Lots to do around Rutland and some great walks. Stamford is definitely worth a visit and not far away. Fantastic setting to unwind & relax in, Caroline was a great host and would recommend the place to friends & family. We hope to stay again in the future.

Idyllic spot

A most attractive property with beautiful gardens very close to Rutland Water. The Garden Room was very comfortable and had all we needed. Views are lovely out to fields with sheep. The little terrace off the bedroom is idyllic - perfect for a glass of wine with a view in the evenings. Definitely recommend.

Comfortable week in the Garden Apartment

As we approached the Apartment we could sense the tranquillity of the surrounding area. Everywhere was neat and tidy and suitable, as we had expected for our stay. The garden was awesome; a delight to walk and sit amongst the beautiful blooms. Caroline, the owner was warm and friendly; nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends or family. We enjoyed Rutland Water; we had a lovely time visiting Oakham, Stamford, Market Harborough and various nature reserves. We enjoyed a meal at The Barn in Oakham; lovely food and good service. Well worth a stay.
