Welcome to The Old Smoke House, a character-filled home with breathtaking harbour views, nestled in the heart of Charlestown, one of Cornwall's most iconic and picturesque villages. Just a short stroll from sandy beaches, traditional pubs, and top attractions, this beautifully presented property is the perfect coastal retreat for families, couples, or friends looking to enjoy a relaxing Cornish getaway.

Charlestown Harbour was constructed between 1799 and 1800 by Charles Rashleigh, whose name the village proudly bears. Once a thriving hub for the export of copper and china clay, remnants of its maritime past remain — including the original shutes on the eastern wall once used for loading cargo. Today, the harbour is a captivating place to wander, with charming cafes and pubs nearby, including The Rashleigh Arms, conveniently located just behind The Old Smoke House.

Inside, the property combines character with comfort. The well-equipped kitchen includes modern appliances, featuring an electric oven, electric ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a breakfast bar seating four. The bright and airy living area features a plush sofa, an armchair, television with DVD player, and large patio doors that let in an abundance of natural light, framing the glistening harbour view - just the spot for your morning coffee!

Upstairs, exposed beams add rustic charm to the king-size master bedroom and cosy twin room, complemented by a contemporary family shower room. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also provided for added convenience.

Step through the patio doors to a delightful garden with outdoor seating and breathtaking sea views, the perfect place to soak up the Cornish sunshine with a scoop of award-winning ice cream from Tall Ships Creamery just around the corner.

Charlestown is ideally situated on Cornwall's stunning south coast, with beautiful nearby beaches such as Carlyon Bay and Caerhays. It's the perfect base for couples or families seeking a memorable coastal getaway, with world-renowned attractions like The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan just a short drive away. You also have supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda nearby.

Highly recommended!

The Old Smoke House was such a pleasant place to stay, very relaxing and comfortable, in the centre of Charlestown and close to the harbour. It was extremely well presented, immaculately clean and provided everything that we needed. The owner was very helpful, providing information before our arrival and at the property itself. Charlestown is just lovely, with it’s harbour and plenty of good bars and restaurants, as well as being a great location for exploring more of Cornwall.

Excellent stay

The property had everything that we needed for our holiday and was in an excellent location. It was within walking distance of bars and restaurants. The house was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. We would love to return but unfortunately the prices have risen so much for next year that it would be cheaper to go on an all inclusive holiday. If prices were to drop in future year’s, we wouldn’t hesitate to return

The Old Smokehouse is a beautiful little cottage in an ideal location. We had everything in Charlestown at our fingertips. The property itself was spotlessly clean, perfectly proportioned and contained every amenity we could need. Highly recommend.

Lovely comfortable cottage in great location

Lovely cottage, it was very comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. It was a shame there was no dining table. Well equipped garden could have been made prettier with few pots of flowers. Charlestown a pretty place to stay and in good area to travel all over Cornwall. Overall a good holiday house and would return.

Very well decorated property with all furniture at a high standard.

It would have been nice to have at least 1 toilet roll in place after driving 300 miles to get there. Only a small detail but having no toilet roll at all was disappointing.

We had such a wonderful time staying at the Old Smoke House. The location is ideal, in the heart of Charlestown and overlooking the harbour. The property is beautifully decorated and very cosy. We enjoyed the sunny terrace at the end of every day and will definitely come back very soon.

Amazing View!

I booked this property at the last minute due to the Covid pandemic. I wanted somewhere family and dog friendly beside the sea and preferably with a sea view. The Old Smoke House exceeded my expectations! The view over Charlestown Harbour to the sea was stunning! The double doors to the back garden area as well as the master bedroom all looked towards the harbour and sea! We had amazing weather, sunshine every day and this harbour town is both beautiful and interesting with lots of costal walks, beaches and restaurants. The actual harbour beach was sadly not dog friendly in August but there were plenty a short drive away. The property is full of character and in such a lovely location. The neighbours were also very welcoming and friendly. My only negative comment would be cleaning. The house overall very clean but there was an unfortunate smell of sick in the lounge which seemed to come from the sofa. We couldn’t identify a source but the smell got worse as the week went on. However that was my only issue. I would highly recommend the property, the stunning view and location to others. I would definitely return to the Smokehouse again.

Lovely house in a lovely location

Right in the middle of Charlestown, close to the beach with access to lovely walks along the coast. Lots of great amenities in Charlestown too. The Old Smokehouse is a lovely place, cosy and has all the amenities you need.

Perfectly placed, cosy and comfortable

A very clean and well presented little place right in the centre of Charlesville, so everything was very conveniently on the doorstep. Everything was nice quality, the beds were very comfortable and the whole place felt luxurious. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked. Simply and tastefully furnished. Fantastic shower! Nice views from the main bedroom over the quay. Just a very nice, perfectly formed little place that was a pleasure to come back to at the end of each day.
