A few yards from Hallsands beach and the dramatic Start Bay coastline, Guillemot is a modern holiday home that oozes nautical charm. Furnished in a high end coastal style it has been designed to meet all the wants and needs of visitors to the South Hams whilst still feeling warm and welcoming.
From the coastal views when you wake to the underfloor heating to warm you up after a dip in the sea only 30 metres from the house, it’s an idyllic holiday home for families or groups of friends thanks to four bedrooms that sleep up to eight people. Guillemot sits right on the South West Coast Path for those wishing to explore the Coastline.
Downstairs, a large open hallway greets you with a double bedroom to the right offering sea views and a separate shower room to the left. This leads into an open plan kitchen with adjacent dedicated dining area where you can recount the day’s activities together. The kitchen is of a modern country style and is complete with contemporary amenities including a dishwasher. The dining area leads through french doors out onto the rear enclosed garden with countryside views of the fields.
From the downstairs hallway a staircase decorated with marine themed pictures leads you up to a welcoming lounge that takes advantage of it’s position offering expansive sea views to the East over Start Bay. With plenty of comfy seating and a wood burner that’s perfect for winter evenings by the fireside it truly is a delightful place to relax with family and friends.
The spacious Master bedroom is on the first floor and benefits from a King size bed, and en suite bathroom with freestanding bath. The two further bedrooms are on the second floor and each have two single beds. The single rooms are filled with light thanks to Velux windows and have use of a shower room off the hallway. There’s also a TV room to keep kids entertained.
A holiday in the South Hams is very much about the great outdoors, so it’s wonderful that Guillemot has plenty of space to relax in the garden. Outside the front there’s a terrace area overlooking Hallsands beach and with furniture provided. To the back of the property there’s an enclosed garden with a deck and more outdoor furniture for you to use.
Helpfully, there’s parking for up to three cars (a sought-after commodity in the South Hams) – one space is directly outside the property and two are in a nearby visitors’ bay. Meanwhile, Guillemot is just a short walk from the popular Cricket Inn at Beesands, and the beaches, water sports, shops, restaurants and local attractions of Salcombe and East Portlemouth are just a short drive away.

The South Hams is famously one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and a popular holiday destination – for good reason. Kingsbridge is the nearest town - a historic market town that also has the benefit of having an active residential community, giving rise to a welcoming, warm atmosphere, and lots of boutique shops and restaurants to explore. By the water’s edge, there various pubs offer.

Perfect Family Weekend
We were a party 4 generations getting together for a family weekend & Guillemots was perfect for us
Deceptively spacious, very well equipped for family meals and as gorgeous as the pictures show.
Having the beach literally on our doorstep was wonderful and we even braved the sea for a swim!
Hosts were super helpful and we all had a brilliant weekend making memories for a lifetime x

Family holiday
Once you’ve negotiated those tiny lanes, you reach this unspoilt beautiful location. To stay in such a lovely house facing the sea is so lucky.
You go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the waves crashing up the shore. What more do you need to unwind and relax !

nice property, cantankerous owner
cleanliness fair but considering the cleaning fee we had to pay as standard then not exceptable. Fridge/freezer, kitchen cupboards not clean. oven greasy with a broken seal. bbq not good also blocked shower drain which we had to deal with and not enough toilet paper.
We had no idea who owned the property but there was a rude angry lady telling off many people for parking incorrectly on her private land.Holiday renters need to be told exactly where they can park to avoid unpleasantness! We were even told directly by her that she does not want tourists on her land. Its amazing that she will take tourists money though! Know wonder people go abroad with property managers like that!

We, HolidayHost, manage the property for the owner who does not live anywhere near the property so it wont have been the owner. We are uncertain who shouted at you and apologise.

OUTSTANDING PROPERTY
This house and location is absolutely stunning! It has been tastefully decorated with high end goods . Every room is beautiful and well equipped. It is spotless and comfortable. The views from the window across to the beach are stunning and it felt like we had our own private beach which dogs loved . There are some tricky lanes to negotiate but it is well worth it . Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are fab to visit and a meal at Cricket Inn at Beesands is a must !

Away from the crowd
Lovely property, decorated to a high standard. Our party were able to spread out and had their own floor. May be it is the end of the season but little bit of maintenance was needed, small things such as light bulbs. Great access to the beach, not for those who want convenience though.

More attention to maintenance needed.
This is a beautiful property in a lovely spot. It has been furnished to an exceptionally high standard. What let it down was the sort of maintenance I expect in a high end property. Bulbs not working, towel rail not working, the door from the kitchen to the rest of the house had to be jammed with some card or it wouldn’t shut. The bin lid in the kitchen wouldn’t stay closed. The kitchen tap had lost it’s end nut and kept coming off. Just little things but taken all together, just showed a poor maintenance.
Beds are a personal preference but we found the master bed too soft and marshmallow like, my husband ended up sleeping downstairs where the bed was firmer.
We paid £25 to bring our dog but had to clean up the garden of three piles of dog mess of previous guest’s animals. Had we been staying with children we would not have been very happy.
If this house were maintained better, I would give it 100% recommendation as it has been beautifully furnished in an idyllic spot.

Lovely house, beautiful peaceful location
This house was great. Practical and stylish. Good bathrooms, and fully equipped kitchen. Comfy sitting room with great views of the beach. One small suggestion - upgrade the mattress on bed in main bedroom to something firmer and higher quality. None the less this house and Hallsands was a perfect escape from the city.
