We moved to Switzerland in 2001 and fell in love with Zermatt. In many ways, Zermatt is even more enjoyable in summer than in winter. The weather is great, the village charming, and the mountains beautiful. We also love the wild flowers and wildlife, It is not uncommon to see the small horned Chamoix (Gems in German) or much larger horned Ibex (Steinbock in German) or Maromots. Golden Eagles are reputed to be common in the Alps now, and are reputed in 2012 to have nested in the Zmutt valley. The Lammergeier (literally Lamb-vulture in German) also called Bartgeier (bearded vulture) is very rare - only about 500 pairs in the European range. But they are being reintroduced into the east of Switzerland, and I have photographed one (in spring 2012) between Zermatt and Zmutt - it is a huge bird - up to about 2.5m wingspan. The silhouette photo - it was very high - cannot be loaded onto this website, but I am happy to send to you if you are interested. We own our apartment as our holiday home and enjoy renting it to others to enjoy too.
Adrian. purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Adrian. chose Täsch
The quiet yet central location, with views of the mountainside make this a gem of an apartment. In this car age we forget how heavy a few bottles of wine and a shopping bag of food can be when one has to carry it far - and Zermatt is spread over quite and extensive area. Being able to pop around the corner for the bread or croissants for breakfast while the rest of the household is getting up is very pleasant and convenient. As is access to the transport systems to get up (or down) the mountains if you prefer not to walk up (or down). Cooking at home is enjoyable. There are also more than 50 restaurants in and around Zermatt - at all price points, and also plenty of bars. Supermarket prices are as for the rest of Switzerland. There is good shopping, a small alternative cinema (try to watch one of the charming old movies about Zermatt) and (we think public) tennis courts, become ice hockey rinks in the winter months.
What makes this Apartment unique
Around 29 of Switzerlands 36 mountains over 4000m occur around the Zermatt valley. And only Zermatt has the very photogenic (see if you can stop photographing it!) Matterhorn. First ascent by Whymper an Englishman, although that's a tragic story. The English association with Zermatt is a long one - visit the charming Zermatt museum, modern with a novel audio guide around old Zermatt - to understand more. There is even an English Church; St Peter's.

Comfortable, Cosy Appartment in a Fabulous, Central Location
If you're looking for a sleek, modern, minimal apartment, this one is not for you. However, if you want somewhere comfortable and cosy to chill-out after a great day of skiing, then I highly recommend it. The apartment is warm with good sized bedrooms and all the practical amenities you need. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the apartment is big enough for 6 adults to dine and relax comfortably.
It's conveniently located right in the heart of the town centre, one street back from the main street. (We noticed no street noise, despite its town-centre location.) It's a five-minute walk from the station which not only makes not arrival and departure days easy, but makes getting up onto the slopes a doddle. The ski-bus departs from right outside the Gornergrat station but we found the Gornergrat railway the quickest, most relaxing option to get up on to the mountain.
Whilst the décor may be a little dated for some tastes, we found the apartment to be charming and full of character - beautifully clean, warm and cosy. It had everything we needed. Piping hot showers and baths (with great water pressure) were appreciated by everyone after long days of skiing. We cooked, enjoyed family meals in comfort at the spacious dining table, watched films and played some of the board games provided. Very convenient for eating out too.
Adrian, the owner and host provided a wealth of useful information that was also most appreciated.
We certainly hope to return.......
Thanks Vivienne for your comments. We look forward to seeing you again.
Excellent apartment and fantastic host
The Bellevue apartment is one of the best accommodations we ever had for our sky vacations! Very convenient location, easy to arrive and to get to the Gornergrat train; COOP and Migros are within 5 minutes walk.
The apartment itself is very nicely decorated, clean and tidy. Great fit for two families traveling together (our case). All amenities are available; wide set of kitchenware is provided. The washing machine is extremely helpful for crazy skiers! The fireplace is in excellent condition; some woods were available and we bought more.
Special thanks to the host. Adrian is extremely friendly and helpful. When we had issues with the wash basin in one of the bathrooms he immediately found plumbers to fix it. As the weather conditions during our trip were not very good Adrian sent us daily reports from the Zermatt Tourist Office and consulted on possible activities.
Dear Maria & Sergey, Thank you for your visit and your kind comments. Zermatt is continuing to experience extremely high snowfall, and the tourist office is repaying the visitor taxes I pay to them for guest visits by excellent and frequent updates on the situation, which i am pleased to pass on. Fortunately there are lots of things to entertain you in Zermatt, even if the weather closes in. In any event it's really great to know that the apartment assisted you to have a great "sky" holiday (=ski holiday in the high altitude sky of Zermatt). Yes the location of our apartment is really central, and quiet. I really wouldn't want to be far from the shops in the current weather, or from the ski-bus when the skies are blue again! Please come again. Adrian
Great central location
Spacious 3 bed apartment, close to the center. Only criticism were the bathrooms are in need of an update.
Dining area was sweet and traditional.
Thanks Susie. Everyone appreciates the ample space on the two floors inside our apartment and its very central and quiet location. No-one has commented on the bathrooms before. We'll investigate the possibilities, and their affordability! And yes, we agree it's very cozy to eat around the dining table. We look forward to welcoming you again.
Wonderful in all respects
We were very keen to visit Zermatt with some family visitors from the US to us in Switzerland. Only 2 nights were available, and we took them. With assistance in planning the short visit from Adrian we were able to make the most of it from such a conveniently and well appointed apartment. Our US family left for the rest of the Swiss catch-up visit, very happy to have included the crown jewels!
Thank you Rosemary. Even a short trip is enjoyable, with planning. Come back again soon - and for longer if time allows! Adrian
Great Apartment in a Fantastic Location!
We were so very happy with our three-week stay in this apartment and with its amazing location! We have three older children and they all loved Bellevue and so did my husband and I. The apartment is so spacious with a lovely dining room area, well-outfitted kitchen, comfortable beds and bedrooms and cozy and relaxing common areas. I loved having our own washing machine! We enjoy cooking so having Migros and Coop just minutes away with fresh bread and groceries was great! The apartment is in a fantastic location, barely five minutes from both the train and the Conegrat station. It is also located just about thirty meters from the main street that runs through Zermatt and is located on a very nice stretch of that street. We thoroughly enjoyed the cafes, restaurants, and shops and although they are close to the apartment it is still very quiet! My husband is very sensitive to noise and was never bothered - very quiet! Also - the fact that there is a view of the Matterhorn from the long apartment balcony meant the world to us since we were in Zermatt to climb it. Adrian is the most incredible host - so helpful and so very responsive! We had really such a great time in Zermatt and much of it was because we came so prepared after Adrian provided us prior to our arrival with so much information in regards to trains, lifts, trails, restaurants and much more. This information ensured that we bought the Swiss Transfer Ticket to and from Zurich and also the Swiss Half Fare Card at the train station in Zermatt which allowed us to pay only half price for all our lift and gondola tickets up the mountain! We are planning to return to Zermatt in the near future and will definitely stay in this apartment again!!! Thank you so much Adrian for making our visit and stay so very special!!!
It is always a pleasure to be appreciated! Of course Zermatt, and the apartment and its location should take most of the credit. I was glad to assist you and your family, and look forward to your return when you are ready: summer or winter. Best wishes,
Fantastic property in a great location
The property was perfect for a family ski trip to Zermatt. It is warm and cosy, with more than enough space for 3 adults and 2 children. The location is perfect - very central with easy access to the slopes etc. The boot room is great, and ski bus stop just down the road. It is equipped with every thing you need for a comfortable stay. Adrain is a great host - he provides lots of information regarding the property and the area. We would certainly love to stay here again on our next visit to Zermatt. Many thanks Adrian.
Zermatt is THE premier resort of the Alps. The gold standard. Summer and Winter. In summer the temperature can get up to around 30C and the mountain air, flowers and scenery are outstandingly beautiful. One can ride high, up or down, to a maximum of about12,000 ft (3800m), with three different transport systems and there are around 600km of well signposted walking routes, some away from all the lifts /underground/overground transport infrastructure. For the more adventurous (can you walk 300m vertical in an hour, as needed, and walk for 5 hours? Do you have a 20-35 litre pack, and clothing if the weather turns bad?) the English owner, a member of the Swiss Alpine Club, can advise on making bookings at SAC mountain huts for very reasonable simple overnight accomodation, and simple meals. This is a wonderfully unique experience. Carry only your toothbrush, and bad weather gear - just in case. For all, one can easily enjoy walking the mountains and there are plentiful places to stop for a light or not so light lunch with or without wine or beer, from simple rustic places to real gourmet. For the less adventerous, one can get up to 3800 m (12,000 + feet) without any strenuous walking, and still enjoy many of the sightseeing benefits. June and July are best to see the mountain flowers, and by end August the nights are getting cooler - days still warmer - and winter is on the way. May and September are rather in-between-season months (winter and summer), and the place is quieter. October, November skiing is possible on a wider area than just the 20Km of pistes on the glaciers available in high summer. There are no cars in Zermatt, only a few electric taxis, and a few horse drawn carriages. Helicopter tours and paragliding can be arranged. There is a creche for very young children if needed. All visitors arrive by train, If coming by car one has to park in Taech and take the 11 minute shuttle train ride to Zermatt. If coming by train from an airport, booking your tickets before you arrive may be cheaper. The owner will assist you. From Zermatt Station it is less than a five minute walk to the apartment, and the owner provides easy to follow illustrated directions. The apartment is very central yet faces the mountains and is quiet. All the restaurants and bars and shops are within walking distance.
