The Boathouse, Fisherman's Lane is an amazing waterfront property. As a former boathouse, it is built on the edge of the seashore, only meters from the high tide mark which at times gives the impression of being on a boat. A new wooden-framed larch-clad extension on stilts has been added to the existing and renovated stone-built boathouse. The beautiful large scale windows give stunning views of the sea and of Mulroe Cove's unique and idyllic small harbour setting as well as of the surrounding landscape. The Boathouse is furnished throughout with a lovely mix of both modern and antique furniture and has a seascape cottage Long Island style feel to it. It has a beautiful spacious kitchen/dining room with a lovely sitting area with stunning views of both the sea and landscape. The living room also overlooks the sea and leads to a lovely decking area for sitting outside. It has 2 double bedrooms, one of which has a seaview and the other a view over the stunning marshland landscape.
Mulroe Cove is a superb waterfront property and has a truly spectacular and uniquely private setting. It has its own private shingle beach which is only 5 metres from the house and spreads 0.5 km wide. It is a wonderful place to swim, kayak and fish or to stroll and relax on.
Due to its very sheltered position on the South side of the Dunmanus Bay, Mulroe is not only a superb seafront property, but is also set in 5 acres of mature gardens, which comprises a walled garden with Mediterranean and tropical plants as well as various areas of lawn with mature trees and a woodland with waterway. The woodland stretches over 0.5 miles from the house to the main road, thus lending the house a very private and tranquil setting.
At the far side of the beach the sea stretches into a beautiful wild marshland in which many different varieties of birds live and nest. This is a beautiful conservation area.
The house is a lovingly restored stone cottage set in the beautiful walled garden with wonderful sea views. It combines old with new, thus lending the house a timeless feel full of character.
The house consists of three separate rental units, the first, called 'The Artist's Studio' sleeps 2-4 people, the second, called 'Mulroe House' sleeps 4 and the third, "The Boathouse sleeps 4 .
'Mulroe Studio' sleeps two. It has a spacious double height living/dining room with a characterful mix of antique and modern furniture and a twin bedroom on a mezzanine floor. It has a charming kitchen with an old dresser, table and a free-standing modern gas-cooker with electric oven and a stylish, contemporary bathroom with bath/shower. The seaviews from the kitchen, living room and bedroom are stunning.
It is possible to sleep a third person on the bedsofa in the living room.
It is possible to sleep a third person on the bedsofa in the living room.
'Mulroe House' sleeps four and has a comfy feel. It consists of a double and twin bedroom, a separate bathroom with bath/shower facilities, a cosy kitchen with dining area and a living room with a beautiful old stone fireplace and old corner cupboard. Stephanie greeted us and was so helpful.Beautiful location we were in the sea daily .Everything is provided. We definitely plan to stdy again ...really lovely place highly recommend !
Well equipped and comfortable.
Grounds of property could be given more attention and windows cleaned to enjoy view better. Otherwise highly recommended
From the moment we arrived, we were spellbound. The views of the cove from the cottage were fantastic with visitations from the occasional seal, curlews, gannet and sandpipers. A wonderful hideaway place with everything you need. Stephanie was the perfect host. Sad to leave and definitely hope to return.

Hi Kathy,
thank you for your lovely review. It was lovely to meet you both and I hope we'll see you again sometime.
All the best for now, Strephanie
Couldn’t ask for a lovelier view and a more picturesque, peaceful location. Waking up to the loch view each morning is very special. Unless you are very hardy bring a wetsuit and have a daily swim it’s marvellous. (August - September was)

Unique accommodation away from it all
We stayed in the Boathouse for a week. It was an utterly unique and beautiful experience and did at times feel like being on an actual boat. It was bright and spacious and very comfortable. Stephanie was a very gracious host who gave us space aplenty, so we felt no sense of intrusion on our holiday. It gave us a truly special opportunity to commune with nature, where everything from herons, egrets, seals, dolphins could be observed from our windows -. total switch off in a perfect setting. would highly recommend

It's great to hear how you embraced and enjoyed the proximity to the sea and nature! And it does feel like being on a boat at times. Thank you for your stay!
We spent a week at the boathouse and just arrived home today.
Beautiful property right on the waterside, at high tide you could just step into the crystal clear water.
Stephanie was the perfect host, we had use of the BBQ, which we used most nights, and we were able to borrow the kayak and lifejackets too, which we really enjoyed.
Evenings we spent relaxing and painting pebbles or painting what we had photographed that day.
We watched the fisherman going out and in, he is willing to share his catch if you are interested.
The week flew by, and we had an amazing time, the only one thing was that we didn't like the taste of the water as it is high in iron, but easy to buy big bottles of water in local shops.
Also, eating out, the pub in Durrus served us the most freshest ever fish and crab that we have ever had for only 14euro pp,
Property view was amazing.
Would have been good to have a washer dryer so you don’t have to take dirty clothes back. Also a more comfortable sofa.Tele to have better reception. view of property could not fault.
Views and access to water make this property very special
Space is somewhat limited but ideal for us. The property has both a cosy (at night) and bright (during day) feel. Windows abound with views onto the water which constantly draws the eye. Swimming immediately outside property a pleasure as was sitting out and doing very little!
Fabulous property located on the edge of water. Recommended if you want to escape and chill . Only thing missing was an wood burning stove to warm you up after a swim ! .
Would encourage anyone to visit .
What a piece of heaven. Stayed in the boathouse for a week and could have stayed longer. To wake up each morning to a different view is amazing. I could have just spent my day looking out the huge windows.... in saying that dunbeacon is just in the right position to do your site seeing it it close to all places you would like to see... Bantry, Schull, Ballydehob on your doorstep and Kenmare not much more that a hour away and that is only for starters. The house itself is great and everything you could want and the host is very warm and welcoming. Hope to be back soon. Thank you for a lovely stay. Loraine, Kieran and Louie
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stephanie's Boathouse. I have never rented a house so close to the water. The views from the whole house are fabulous. The house was spotless, bright and airy. Beds were very comfortable. We brought out own kayak and it was a very safe sheltered harbour to kayak and we met a friendly seal at mannions island. Nice spot for swimming too and combing the beach for scallop shells. Our only problem with the place , was leaving it . We will be back for sure. Thank you again Stephanie for sharing your beautiful beachhouse.
We couldn’t of chosen a better place to totally relax and switch off . The house is right on the waterfront and we spent hours just looking out of the big windows taking in the view. Waking up each morning to the sound of the sea water and watching the tide go out and come in. The only other sound were the seagulls fishing outside. The house is in an ideal place to visit many beautiful places around the area.

Beautiful setting, lovely little house, quiet and restful
We had a lovely stay and would have been happy to stay longer. The setting is really gorgeous and, at high tide, you might think you were on a boat. The boathouse was just the right size for us -- we are three -- and tastefully furnished. If you're looking for a place to contemplate the water, to read and to stroll on a little beach only a stone's throw from your bed, this is the place for you. And, for exploring the delights of West Cork, it's a great option with Mizen Head, Bantry and Skibbereen within easy reach. Stephanie was extremely welcoming and kind, which enhanced the whole experience.

A wonderfully secluded location.
Despite a significantly later than expected arrival, Stephanie gave us a warm welcome and advice on the local places of interest. The property was clean, cosy and well furnished for our needs having a well equipped kitchen and ample living space combined with two double bedrooms.
The outlook over the bay could be enjoyed from almost every room and a stroll along the beach was a lovely way to start the day, we even found a couple of wild oysters at low tide.
Getting to the places of interest is better to be done by car and we found some superb little beaches to walk the dog within a 20 minute drive.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
