Wonderful home for exploring the Dordogne

We spent two weeks in this beautiful house and can't recommend it enough. It is exactly as the description says. The location in the village is wonderful to be able to walk and get pastries in the AM or to stroll to dinner in the evening. The house is comfortable, spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed. Domme is a great location from which to explore the regions attractions - whether, going slightly further afield to Rocamadour (1 hour) or driving down the hill for a fabulous canoe trip down the river there is never any shortage of things to do. And, on several days a stroll through the village with a day spent poolside was plenty enough. Every part of the booking experience was seamless - the owner is quick to respond to questions and the maps and directions to the home perfect. The local host was delightful - she gave us great restaurant recommendations and spoke English perfectly. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing property and property manager

We cannot express enough how much we loved our stay at this property in Domme. Not only was the house and the pool amazing and clean, they have thought about everything to make the stay incredibly relaxing and comfortable. But to be honest, the best part of this property is Patriica, the property manager. She checked in with me everyday to ask if I needed reservations at restaurants or canoes nearby or other activities. She is a gem and truly made our stay even more magical.

Maison Domme, August 2019

Despite what follows we had a great holiday. We do not believe the problems mentioned below to be the fault of the property manager. 1. The pool: of fibreglass construction it required a thick rubber seal between the top of the pool and the timber above it. That seal had perished and, in many places, come away from where it was supposed to be. Hence the pool often looked a mess. 2. The decking: to the left side of the pool, was constructed out of poor quality, lightweight timber. In several places this had sprung away from the base material, revealing screws that were proud and cheap nails which had been used to effect running repairs. Both owner and letting agent should recognise these are dangerous and just the sort of thing that leads to claims from litigious renters. 3. The Garden: has been let go. Most of the fruit trees are dead or past the point of no return. Weeds are beginning to choke the margins and to encroach towards the middle. We were told to expect a Gardner - none appeared. 4. The house: the electric supply and design needs a careful review - dimmer switches abound but work on a “sometimes” basis. Light bulbs blew in multitude, (the manager and her husband replaced one lot). The shower in the roadside bedroom leaked, sending water through the ceiling of the living room , where it travelled through the lighting console above the cooking range which, in consequence could not be used and appeared to be suffering visible damage. The property manager sent a plumber and, (we suspect), he was not prepared to consider a solution until the areas affected had dried out - such a solution probably involving some structural work. The shower in the next bedroom was so high tech. That either it did not work properly, or we were all too dim to work it. The consequence was that the bathroom with a shower in the bath got far more use than it should have done and the seal around its skirting does not fit as it should. All in all these matters were most disappointing in any holiday let and ridiculous in one so expensive. The fact that they did not spoil our holiday has much to do with our being a party of 10 from the same, close family . If unrelated people had been involved there would have been much, justified complaint. We became aware of particulars of sale for the property, issued by selling agents, and concluded that the owner has lost interest in it. That is a great pity. Peter Warburton. 27 August 2019.

Beautiful house in beautiful village

This is the perfect holiday house. We easily accommodated our entire family (ourselves and our three adult children with their partners). The outdoor living and pool areas are lovely and the house itself (with four huge bedrooms) was terrific. Domme is a wonderful place to stay and we had the most memorable of holidays. Thanks Suzanna for arranging such terrific accomodation. Chris C

Maison de Domme

This property is an absolute delight. The layout and simple but elegant ambience suited us perfectly, it was spotlessly clean and everything worked perfectly (thanks to the comprehensive briefing given by Patricia). The location in this gorgeous village was ideal - walking distance to excellent restaurants such as Chabanoix et Chataignes, Auberge de la Rode and Comptoir D'Annam (over the road) and to fabulous lookouts, walks, the local cave and some good shops. The outdoor entertainment area was such a pleasant spot for lunches and relaxing around the pool. As we were staying at a quieter time unfortunately not all the restaurants were open and the local store for grocery items was closed but this was well and truly outweighed by the overall relaxed mood in the village, the ease in making bookings and availability of parking nearby. As we were celebrating a special birthday we used the services of a chef that was offered - what a fabulous experience! The quality of the food and the friendly yet professional service was first class - thank you David and to Patricia for organising! We have no hesitation in recommending this property for couples wishing to stay in a beautiful house in a centrally located village for a wonderful Dordogne experience.
