The cottage is situated in the heart of Framlingham just one street from the Market Square (25 yards). Framlingham is a small market town and home to the magnificent twelfth century castle belonging to the Earls and Dukes of Norfolk through the centuries. It is said that Mary I spent time here in 1553, before going to London to reclaim her throne from Lady Jane Grey.
Visit Saint Michael’s church where you can see the tomb of Henry Fitzroy - the illegitimate son of Henry VIII. You’ll notice the tomb is decorated with heraldic iconography, showing how important he was to his father.
Famously the multi-award winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran grew up in Framlingham and began writing songs inspired by the local area. His 2017 single ‘Castle on the Hill’ was inspired by the castle in his hometown.
Framlingham is the perfect town for a stroll, shop and glimpse of history – there’s even a Town Trail marking all the primary sites of historic interest. Market Hill is the Town’s centre and still hosts markets on Saturday and Tuesday offering great local produce together with trinkets and collectibles. There are excellent shops too, for gifts, food, fashions and antiques and mouth-watering selection of cafés, tea shops, pubs and restaurants.

Suffolk Heritage Coast, United Kingdom Members since 2015
Hello,
We are Tim and Lucy and we live on the stunning Suffolk Heritage Coast with our son Jack and our daughter Emily. We have been successfully letting our cottages: Arwen cottage in Aldeburgh, Thimble cottage in Southwold, Albion House and Stable cottage in Saxmundham and Castle Hill Cottage in Framlingham via our companies Aldeburgh Seaside Cottages, Southwold Seaside Cottages and Seaside Luxury Cottages. Our properties are self-catering and advertise on AirBnb. We are thrilled to have met such interesting people and received such lovely feedback for it.
Tim was born and bred in beautiful Suffolk and I was born in Lima-Peru and brought up in Milan-Italy. I speak Spanish, Italian, French, German and English. As my husband’s family is from Suffolk we have strong ties with this beautiful part of the world. Having travelled extensively we have been inspired by the good things we have come across in properties we have stayed in. As you can tell, we are passionate about providing somewhere special that our guests will love, enjoy and return to.
We feel incredibly lucky to be able to live in this part of the world and are loving sharing our cottages with some amazing people from the Owners Direct community. If we had a motto to live by it would have to be Maya Angelou's: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style...”
Why they chose this property

Beautiful countryside and villages surround the town. Art and music festivals are held throughout the year. The Framlingham Tourist Office is the best source for information.
All the main services and attractions in Framlingham are only a short walk away. There are local buses from the Market Square, including to Campsea Ashe railway station.
Aldeburgh is a short drive away, and many people delight in walking there along the shingle beach, admiring Maggi Hambling's famous scallop sculpture on the way.
For an evening stroll or Sunday walk, Framlingham Castle's parkland and surroundings are the perfect place for it. From the market town, you can take a bus or taxi for the short journey into Aldeburgh - for an evening at the cinema, theatre or a concert; or a train to the cinema in Woodbridge, or the Arts Centre in Halesworth.
