Perfect in-town location for a family

  • 5 of 5

Margaret's home is a well-kept and well-stocked 3 BR, 1.5 bath, LR, DR, K with laundry room (yay!), front porch and back patio. It looks exactly like the pictures and the location is really ideal - across the street from the main grocery store, 2 blocks from a terrific natural foods store, a few blocks from a couple of great cafes and pizza place, less than 10 minutes to the Bar Island 'walk across the water at low tide', downtown, Agamont Park and Village Green. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend two high-end restaurants: Havana and This Way Cafe - city quality food and nice service. Bar Harbor and Acadia is a great vacation; we loved it as did our daughter, son-in-law and infant grandson.

Wonderful property in Bar Harbor

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this beautiful home conveniently located within walking distance to town and a short drive to Acadia National Park. Margaret provided all the amenities needed for a homey stay including comfortable beds, a kitchen stocked with cooking essentials and appliances for home meals, grilling area and parking.

We loved accessing the park for the hiking during the day and walking into town in the evenings. Nice clean home, great location, informative owners.

Place was great! Seemed to be dead center in the middle of everything in Bar Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

The place worked out great! It was just my wife and I but we enjoyed having the extra space! The place is located dead center in the middle of everything! We were a 25 yard walk from the grocery store across the street but set back away from the road enough to keep it very quiet! Bar Island bridge which exists during low tide and disappears during high tide was a 5 minute walk from the house! We found ourselves spending the day in Acadia walking trails, coming back to buy pounds of lobster, scallops etc at the grocery store across the way each day, and sitting back and enjoying some great meals! Store will cook them there for you!

Due to great proximity of the house, we could just walk out the door and wander after dinner down to the shops to look around or walk down by the bay! Everything was a few minute walk!

I highly recommend the house due to its fantastic location! I recommend buying the lobsters in the store at $6.99 a pound and letting them cook them for you! So much more affordable then paying triple for them in the restaurants! Especially if you are a large group! Take advantage of the convenience of being in the house!

Great location, felt like home but...

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from our trip up to Mt Desert and were so sad to leave but happy to be sleeping in our own beds tonight. The location of the house was excellent although a number of previous reviewers found the location quiet, we did not. At times, it was quiet, other times, such as the motorcycle starting up outside our window at 5am was not. The owner honored our request regarding fans in the rooms; even though it was cool at night, it was somewhat stuffy upstairs without the fans on. But, previous reviews stated that the beds were comfortable. I can emphatically say that the king bed killed my back and I couldn't make the short walk down the street to the shops due to the bad sciatica the bed caused. My son switched beds with me which helped but then even he complained about the king bed and he can sleep anywhere! But, the house is beautiful, clean, and has everything you need, including laundry room and detergent. We cooked most nights and loved the gas range and outdoor grill. It was also nice not having to fight for a parking spot in town. If it hadn't been for the killer king bed, the lack of sleep and the pain it caused, I would have given this house 4 stars.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry you have a bad sciatic nerve in your back bothering you.My sister has that also and can't get comfortable either. Our beds are semi firm and I'm glad you could get comfortable in our other semi firm bed.
