Local Area
Newport, Pembrokeshire, is a charming coastal town set between the sea and the Preseli Hills, offering one of the most picturesque locations in West Wales. Overlooking the beautiful Newport Bay and the Nevern Estuary, it’s an ideal destination for visitors looking to enjoy a mix of beach, countryside, and small-town charm.
The town is well known for Newport Sands (Traeth Mawr), a large, family-friendly beach perfect for swimming, surfing, and relaxing walks. The nearby Parrog area offers a more peaceful setting, great for crabbing, kayaking, and enjoying views of the estuary. For walkers, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs through the area, providing stunning cliff-top scenery and opportunities to spot wildlife, including dolphins and seabirds.
Inland, Carn Ingli (Angel Mountain) and the Preseli Hills offer fantastic walking routes with sweeping views across the coast. Newport itself has a welcoming atmosphere, with independent shops, galleries, cafés, and restaurants to explore, making it a great place to unwind after a day outdoors.
With its combination of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and relaxed coastal charm, Newport is a perfect base for exploring North Pembrokeshire.
