The Chapel Loft is conveniently located in the heart of historic downtown in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood with an abundance of local restaurants and bars including the world famous Hominy Grill. Just 3 blocks from the King Street shopping and dining district, and less than a mile from The College of Charleston, everything is within walking distance. This former wedding chapel has been fully renovated and converted to a 5-bedroom; 4 ½ bathroom home. It has many unique architectural features that have been retained during the conversion of the wedding chapel. The living/kitchen area is highlighted by soaring 20-foot ceilings and a beautiful heart pine floating stairwell with an abundance of natural light. The Chapel Loft retained its original doors, which lead to a street-front patio.

Why CKC Properties chose Cannonborough Elliotborough

The concept for an adaptive re-use of a former wedding chapel to a living space is what sparked the inspiration for this development. When CKC Properties found this building, it was a poorly maintained and overgrown failed wedding chapel on a bank-owned foreclosure list. The unique opportunity to stay in a former wedding chapel in Charleston's historic district displaying 20' ceilings, arched windows and beautiful stained glass provides a special experience for any traveler.

What makes this house unique

One of the most architecturally pleasing aspects of this development is the floating staircase in the chapel. This was built with restoration heart pine stringers, 3.5″ thick heart pine treads and rail caps. The handrails are made of galvanized metal creating a unique contrast of historical and contemporary elements. This truly turned out to be a centerpiece of the chapel.

I truly cannot say enough good things about The Chapel. 9 of us stayed here for a bachelorette party and it was perfect. The house is absolutely adorable and it’s so easy to get to everything. Clean, comfortable, and Annie was so helpful through the booking process. Everyone was so sad to leave!

Excellent accommodations for 10 adults

In Charleston for family wedding. 10 adults, 4 of which were in their 20s, slept comfortably. Annie was excellent, welcoming, and provided southern hospitality we expected.

Great place for family get togethers!

Our son got married in Charleston, and we needed a place to comfortably accommodate 11 adults for a week. The place was keen and spacious. The main living area at the front of the chapel was open and light and was a great place to congregate and have drinks. To walk to the main downtown area was about 30 minutes so we often used Uber. The benefit however is that it's relatively quiet, and when sitting in the patio area, watching life go by, was tranquil and restful. We're really glad we chose the place.

Amazing location in the heart of Charleston

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this little gem located in the middle of everything in Charleston. We were initially wowed by the photos, but they did not do this place justice when we actually walked through the door. Gorgeous rental with seemingly the best of everything. Our contact for the rental was extraordinarily flexible, communicative, friendly, and helpful. The only thing that I would have changed about our visit was to have booked more nights! You cannot go wrong renting this place. Amazing!
