We enjoyed our stay here. It was in a perfect location - close to everything in the Bastide and an easy walk to the Cite. Richard was super helpful and even helped us with an additional accommodation that we needed. If we are in Carcassonne again, this is where we will stay!

We stayed for couple of nights and would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to visit Carcassonne. Great location, close to shops, restaurants and train station. The castle is about 15-20 minutes walk through charming streets and the old bridge which is a pedestrian bridge. This bridge is also possibly the best viewing point and photo opportunity. Richard and Helen were very kind, on our arrival a bottle of red wine greeted us at the apartment. Very thoughtful. Thank you!

Great location, narrow roads

The Muscat was in a great location. Take a small car if you drive. Also, there is no air conditioning and only one small fan, so it's warm in summer. It is spacious and has a lot of amenities. There is a freezer which was a nice surprise. There was a parking garage north about 2 blocks (André Chenier) that was 7 Euros per day. The host was nice, and everything was clean.

Bright and Spacious

Easy ground floor access, yet still secure. Large living spaces. Modern bath and kitchen. Quick access to public parking. Walkable to castle, near churches and river.

The apartment was lovely & spacious. Hand soap in bathroom & dishwasher tablets would have been good. Very comfortable apartment. We enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine left for us.

Simple and comfortable

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. The apartment was very clean and as pictured in the listing. The neighborhood is very quiet, partly because there are some unoccupied buildings in the area. There is no parking at the apartment and the nearest lot was about 300 feet away. We got in to the apartment easily and found the nearby town square for groceries and restaurants. Note: there is a washer, but no dryer. However, we found the launderette (very clean) was very close by.

Carcassonne Oct Vacation

We really enjoyed the location of the property! Easy access from the train and easy walking access to the center of town and castle. Great apartment for a couple looking to explore Carcassonne. Nice large bathroom and clean, nicely renovated kitchen.

The apartment met our needs perfectly. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed to prepare a meal. There is a Monoprix grocery store three blocks away.

In the Bastide

Right in the Bastide. Around the corner from St. Vincent church. 2 mins walk to the shops and main square. 20mins walk to the Citie. Clean, homely and really well equipped. Welcomed with a lift from the airport and bread butter and wine. Yum! Thanks Raymond and Jaqui.

Bastide Apartment

We totally enjoyed our time in Carcassonne because we had an apartment we enjoyed, with a great location and a caring owner. The apartment was comfortable, with a spacious kitchen and bath. The living and bedroom were small but comfortable. We enjoyed our time walking around Carcassonne. There was shopping and places to eat close. Sundays are more difficult in Carcassonne because many places close on Sunday and some on Monday. Thank you Raymond for coming by and checking on our comfort.

Ground Floor Apartment: Fantastic with Great Hosts

Firstly, Raymond and Julie are absolutely fabulous hosts. They kindly picked me up from the airport, offered to provide a quick tour of Carcassonne and even left a bottle of wine on arrival. A nice and much-appreciated touch. The apartment is fabulous. Centrally located, clean, comfortable and well equipped, it was perfect for my short, solo stay. My ground floor apartment only lacked a terrace (understandable in the centre of La Bastide). However the other two apartments in their block have a terrace and might be a better bet for a longer stay in the summer (and surely worth a 5 star rating as a result). Thank you both.

Great place. In excellent order, comfortable, brilliant shower, well equipped. Close to town.

Owners, Raymond and Julie really looked after us. It made all the difference to a great trip. We arrived at 5:30am and special arrangements were made for us to access the property. Offers of picking up from airport or station adds a touch of class. Both Raymond and Julie had lots of really good tips on where to eat , places to visit , things to do, local car hire at a really reasonable cost. The apartment is only 10 mins from the town square and really close to the bus and trains. The area itself is awesome- red guest books has lots of comments from other guests on where to go and what to do. The apartment itself was spot on. We were a family of 4 (12 &15) so although a bit of a squeeze apartments upstairs might be more spacious with a balcony. But for our needs it was fine. This is probably the only place I would recommend both for the location, quality of accommodation and the owners. We are already looking to return. Highlights of visits were La cite-of course, would recommend visiting Lac de la cavayere-a man made lake with 2 beaches and an aqua park,also Lastours and further afield Mountsegur. We came by train from the UK, so the bus from La dome to the lake for €1 each was great. Car hire-ask Raymond about LOV car hire-great deal. If you have half the great time we had you will, I am sure, have a great time.

Beautiful Garden View!

The narrow, circular staircase to the top floor was well worth the effort. We enjoyed the apartment and terrace tremendously, listening to the bells of St. Vincent and feeling the breeze blowing in across the garden. We were blessed with a pleasant cool snap and the temperatures were lovely. The Carcassonne wine and loaf of bread were nice welcome gifts upon our arrival! We especially liked the location, being between Place Carnot and the pickup point for the Petit Train up to la Cite, which was recommended to us by Jacquelyn. A nice, relaxing visit to the south of France to conclude our long holiday in Europe. Now I will explain the reasons for the lower ratings on some of the categories. For "accuracy of listing," there are three units in the building. Although we originally inquired about the third-floor unit, we were told it was unavailable for our dates. Because of our son's mobility issues we were happy to get assigned the first-floor unit. But upon arrival, we found that we had been reassigned to the third-floor unit. This would have been good news to most guests, but without advanced knowledge about the switch, it was alarming to us to try to take our son up those very narrow, circular stairs. He was able to do it with two spotters but beware that they are probably the most intense stairs you will ever see this side of a ladder! There is a good, strong metal handrail and good lighting, though. As for "communication with the manager," we did not communicate during our stay directly with the owner. He had an emergency in the family which is quite understandable. But we were not told in advance about the unit change, and an email alert would have helped immensely to prepare us for the challenge ahead. Once we made it up the first night upon arrival, we considered other rentals but at the last minute it would have been very difficult to switch. In the end it worked out fine. We just limited our outings to limit the times we had our son use the stairs. The terrace and view are magnificent, and for anyone who is able-bodied, I highly recommend the top floor unit. The location is excellent being just a few blocks from the main shopping area. But the immediate street/block that the building is on does not feel very safe at night. There is some mystery loitering and loud family arguments going on, so if you're out at night, you do feel that you want to walk crisply and have your key ready. Overall, a lovely place to visit with some minor cautions.

Muy bien

El apartamento muy bien equipado y muy limpio. Pasamos un poco de calor porque las temperaturas eran muy altas y no había aire acondicionado pero fue casualidad. Muy recomendable.

Very well equipped apartment. Was as described and very clean. If like us you are more mature in years this is definitely the flat to choose in this building.We had a problem with our shower and it was fixed immediately after we advised the owner about it - excellent service recovery.Easy walk to the station and town centre.

After holidaying in the area for many years, we decided that the laid back French way of life was definitely for us. We came across the property a few years ago. It was in a terrible, run-down state and we have worked hard to lovingly restore this property to its former glory. We hope our guests enjoy the area and that they appreciate the hard work we have put in to restore this charming 16th Century house and retaining most of the original features.

We loved the fact that the property was right in the heart of Carcassonne, with all the amazing shops, restaurants and cafes on our doorstep.
We love spending weekends down on the Mediterranean which is just 45 minutes away.
There are many lovely villages to explore nearby, especially the famous book village, Montolieu and Saissac with its amazing Chateau.

We spent a lot of time making sure that the property retained its original features but also had all modern facilities.
The lovely terrace is perfect to enjoy a glass of wine or simply enjoy the views of St.Vincent Cathedral. It is very rare to get outdoor space in the heart of Carcassonne and that is one of the reasons that we were attracted to this property.
La Cite is just a 15 minute walk away, and there are so many restaurants and shops to explore nearby. Place Carnot is particularly nice to sit and enjoy a drink and watch the locals going about their business.
