Property was in an excellent location but could do with a bit of TLC. The 2nd double bedroom in particular had wallpaper coming off the walls and ceiling. This did not spoil our stay and we had a lovely relaxing weekend.

Thank you for your review. The decorator is coming round tomorrow! We did actually have that room repainted in spring but for some reason the paper has peeled off. It’s always difficult to get things like that fixed when the cottage is fully booked but it will be sorted now! Rose

Had an absolutely lovely stay here with my family of 4. Both my kids have asked to return. The ease of stepping out into the beach meant evening walks tired the kids out. The property itself is rustic but has all the amenities you need. Would highly recommend

This is the most idyllic place. The interior is a bit dated but it adds to the character of the place. Amazing situation right on the beach and amazing walks. We have, and will continue to come here as it’s a place of tranquility, where you can relax and breath

Lovely views looking over the beach. House needs modernising. A lot of the equipment broke or not there. No hot water in bedroom. Not enough cups plates, glasses, knives, and forks, etc for a family of five. Rooms too hot no fans. Carpets need replacing . Not sure if it’s because the house is near a farm, but the house was full of flies. Edging coming down the road to the cottage needs cutting as it scratches your car when you go down and up as it’s never been cut.

Than you for taking time to review. I must admit I was worried when I first read it as I feel we always leave the cottage well stocked with equipment so I wondered what had happened to it all. I’ve just got over to check and find 12 dinner plates, 17 small plates, 9 mugs, 13 drinking glasses, 7 wine glasses, 5 bowls plus various other plates and bowls; 10 knives, 11 forks, 13 dessert spoons , 4 teaspoons( they must get thrown away regularly!). Other than the teaspoons, I feel this is plenty for 5 guests. However, had you contacted me during your holiday, I could have ensured more were supplied for your week. If there was anything broken, I’d appreciate if you could let me know what - we’re always happy to replace things if we know about them. I don’t think we’ve ever had it hot enough up here before this summer to warrant fans but I’ll make sure some are available in case it’s this hot again. I’m not sure what we can do about flies in the hot weather but I’ll make sure fly swats and spray are provided. I can see some new stains on the living room carpet and will see if I can get them out - the carpet was new only 2 yrs ago so I’d hoped it would last a bit longer. I’m afraid we have no control over the hedges on the public highway tho the council are usually pretty good at not letting them get overgrown. We didn’t have a problem getting down today so maybe they’ve done it since you were here, I will ring to check and see if they can tell me when it’s on their schedule. I hope these issues didn’t spoil your enjoyment here

The property itself is in dire need of some maintenance. The tiles in the conservatory are broken and some very recently which we’ve reported as they are very sharp. The garden needs some TLC, the birdhide is falling down, the seating area was in bad condition too. The lining paper is falling off everywhere. The views are spectacular and Rose was great to communicate with. The location is perfect.I think the worst thing for us was the property was not clean. The beds were clean and changed but the toaster was filthy, the cooker was dirty and we would not have wanted to cook anything in it. The cooker hob was dirty so we cleaned it and the carpets were stained and had not been hoovered (we hoovered them) and so much came up it was clear they’d not been done or at least not properly. The fire had also been left in a mess and not emptied. Everything needs dusting and scrubbing.I thank Rose for her great communication and easy booking but sadly I would not stay again.

The location was amazing. Secluded with beautiful views...exactly what we wanted. There was a lovely supermarket just a couple of miles away. The property was in reasonable distance from local attractions. Peil Castle and the train to lake Windemere were firm favourites with the kids, as was the beach...right outside the gate! The cottage was clean and had all the facilities required. We look forward to visiting again.

Stayed mid March cold raining, the heating was on when we got there so we could relax straight away, a lot of thought has gone into making it homely and comfortable. So good we didn't want to leave

Honestly the quietest place we have ever stopped. Fantastic location on the beach front. And I mean fantastic. No need for a dog lead while staying here. Had such a good time. Can't wait to go back and that's not like us lol. One of the best holidays we've had.

We were looking for relaxing and thats exactly what we got. Easy to go for a bracing stroll straight onto beach (pebbles and sand when tide out) Successfully tired out a 2 yr old pointer as he ran miles and back along the endless bay sands.Garden large mainly flagged, very dog friendly, and secure. A determined dog could possibly jump the 3 foot gates but on the whole proved escape proofMain house warm and comfortable but spent most time in conservatory with easy chairs and a dining table. Pictures dont do this room justice as it stayed warm and cosy from morning to evening and the tiled floor meant wet dog paws not a problem. Ample room to have dog beds in here for snoozing happy dogs whilst left in peace to admire the views, read or just snooze yourself. Not really a bucket and spade beach, but perfect for collecting shells, walking, and running with dogs. Perfect week (Although could have done without the wind rain and hail) Will definately return if possible.

Great break!

We had a great week here. The property had enough space for the four of us with plenty of room to sit in the conservatory and enjoy the view. The location was amazing, you are literally right on the beach. Ulverston is only a short drive away for provisions or a meal out. Really sad to leave as it was a wonderfully relaxing place to be.

Enjoyed

Enjoyed stay but area was too busy for our tastes though not surprising given it was a bank holiday week. Unfortunately we would not revisit as the steps would be just too difficult for my parents.

Response from VrboOwner on 11 Nov, 2020
Thank you for reviewing our cottage - it’s the first time anyone has said the area was too busy! how unfortunate for you - as you say, it must have been because it was bank holiday and also maybe because there has been such an increase in people trying to get out and about following lockdown. I wonder if you mean down near the cottage (which is usually almost deserted if for no other reason than there is no public parking down there) or the wider area - which is more likely. I’m sorry you feel your elderly parents would be unable to cope with the steps - as we say in the description, the property is all on one level but there are 4 steps (with handrail) down from the car parking area. I hope your parents were ok while you had your week away.

Tranquility at its finest!

This was our 2nd visit to Maskel Beach Cottage and it just gets better and better. We returned for my partner's Birthday. I have never stayed anywhere so beautiful where I feel so at home. The walks with the dogs on the beach, the peaceful location, the great nearby pubs to eat, I really cannot praise the whole package enough. My partner and I are booking again for September 2015 and have decided to get married as near to Maskel Beach Cottage as possible! Perfect, perfect, perfect :-)

Perfectly Perfect!

It was our 4th stay and this gem of a cottage and it was so good to return! What a wonderful place to stay! Opening that gate onto Morecombe Bay is bliss, sitting in the conservatory and looking out of an evening is bliss! It's a really comfy home from home place for us. We had a break of 2 and a half years due to buying a motorhome but as soon as we opened that door, we realised how much we missed it! So much so, we booked it again for September before we left. Thank you Rose and Bob for sharing such a special place, we really do feel at home there and can't wait to return.

Heavenly Holiday

Just come back from a wonderful restful holiday at Maskel Beach Cottage. Was very clean and cosy, all very lovely and comfy. Fantastic views and cottage has everything you need. Rose was a wonderful host and provided us with a welcome bottle and all the logs we wanted. Everyone enjoyed the beach being right next to us and so peaceful and quiet, dogs absolutely loved it and have sulked ever since we got back. Would definitely recommend and we will be back. Thank you very much Rose and Bob for sharing your home.

Property is in a beautiful location but needs some serious improvement.

Property is in an excellent location but work needs doing inside & outside of the house, we had a few issues which I communicated to the owner but thought it over priced for the conditions on saying that it could be made lovely & be a little gem.
