Great little apt with easy access to metro and restaurants
Loved staying in this cute little apt during our recent stay in DC. Walking distance to metro (less than 1/2 mile) to get to all the tourist spots, museums and memorials, as well as lots of restaurants and shops. We had a family of 4 adults and slept comfortably.
Thanks Lynn for your hospitality and being flexible with our travel schedule!
I had all my needs taken care of. Comfortable apartment. Thanks , Lynn!
Cozy and welcoming
The apartment was as advertised. It is a little small but Lynn had added several welcoming touches that made it feel cozy and not poky. We appreciated the parking pass. Lynn had also left some metro passes which was very thoughtful, even if we did not use them. The steps down to the apartment are a bit steep and a rope has been provided to hold onto as you descend. Please use it if it is raining, as it can get slippery. The only drawback of the apartment was a strange smell that wafted into the apartment when it rained.
Location was good however it was not really clean
It is an Appartement downstairs, for 4 person however very small. When we came the refridge was not clean and also bathroam and toilette could have been more clean. Location is absolutely perfect and also Lynn is a very nice person and cares about her guests.
Very disappointed to read this review. Cleanliness has always gotten high marks. On occasion a few fresh items are left in the refrigerator and guests have appreciated them. The bathroom is carefully cleaned an inspected. L’Occitane amenities are provided. Sorry if something was missed but find three stars to be a bit inaccurate.
Perfect stay for DC Vacation
What a wonderful experience from the day of arrival to our departure. Lynn, who lives upstairs, was there to greet us when we arrived to DC and walked us through the basement apartment. She also gave us some ideas to help us with our vacation there.
The apartment was cozy for myself and my two kids, the most it could accommodate would be a party of four. The living room sleeper bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities one would need. The apartment was clean and had its own climate control system. We heard no noise from any upstairs activity and very little street noise to disturb out good night rest.
The apartment is only one block from the metro bus and three blocks from the metro train which was very convenient. We had our car, having drove in from Florida, however it stayed parked in the provided guest parking space on the street except for the day we drove out to Jefferson's home.
Shopping and restaurants are also a short walk away. Trader Joe's is only 4 easy blocks to commute on foot. Of note, you need to bring your own bags for shopping otherwise they will charge. That is everywhere in the DC area. Lynn did provide us with bags to take with us as well as a rolling cart to transport the groceries on our walk.
If ever back in DC I would definitely stay with Lynn again. A well kept and perfectly located basement apartment.
Robert thank you for your kind review and hope you come again.
Our historic homes in DC have English basements which mean only four steps down to a sun filled space.

Wonderful apartment, fantastic location!
We recently stayed at Lynn's place during a short vacation to DC, and it was a wonderful experience! The accommodations were perfect for me, my wife, and our two teenage children. Everything was so cozy and comfortable, and the location was perfect. We were just a short walk to the Shaw-Howard U Metro stop, which we used for our DC sightseeing adventures. The use of the parking pass was also very nice, allowing us to park right across the street from the apartment. The neighborhood was quiet and we never felt unsafe. This was our first time using Home Away, so we were a bit nervous and had a lot of "newbie" questions, but Lynn was very responsive and helpful. Thanks, Lynn, for making our first Home Away experience so great! We'd love to stay at your place again!
Location is perfect for sightseeing, restaurants, conventions and shops. Located two blocks from metro.
