Les Fleurs is located within the 50 acre private park, of the 12th century - Knights Templar - ‘Manor Bourgale’.

This beautiful stone cottage and it’s adjoining barns have been tastefully restored to provide a truly comfortable and relaxing home.

A large open plan kitchen and living area opens out onto a covered terrace, ideal for relaxing on those hot summers evenings. Spectacular views across the valley and hills beyond are the focus of day to day living. Private gardens, merge with meadows, Bourgale’s gardens and woods beyond, a magical environment to explore.

A first floor bedroom, with double bed and views across to the ancient Manor and gardens, benefits from an en-suite bathroom; toilet, washbasin and shower. On the ground floor is a family bathroom; toilet, washbasin and bath with overhead shower. Within the the stone cottage portion of this home - a twin bedroom; an adjoining barn provides the third bedroom, which can be arranged as two singles or a Queen sized double - with views onto your garden and across the valley beyond. This bedroom also has direct access to a private terrace, perfect for the morning sun, coffee and pastries.

Discover the history of this manor, it’s intrigues and mysterious carvings, it’s beautiful gardens and large pool. Benefit from free access to our vegetable garden and seasonally available fruit, salad and vegetables. Feed and make friends with out chickens, ducks and geese. The calm of the meadows, the beauty of the woods and wild life.

A five minute walk from one of the oldest villages in the Périgord Noir with its covered market place, bakers, butcher, shops, cafes and restaurants - they all await.

Les Fleurs is an ideal location to explore the thousands of attractions and activities the Dordogne and Vézère valleys offer. Famed for its produce and food, it’s natural beauty and rich history. Swim or canoe the rivers, cycle and horse ride - take a flight in a hot air balloon. Towns such as Sarlat, Monpazier, and Domme are within easy reach, as is Rocamadour, the city of Cahors and much, much more!
High season bookings are Saturday to Saturday. Outside of high season, variable dates possible.

Great place!

We had a wonderful week. The place was so beautiful and peaceful. There are many great day trips and it is just nice to hang out as well. Our hosts were very responsive before our arrival and provided much useful information after we arrived.

Einfach wunderbar

Ein magischer und inspirierender Ort: Ein wunderschönes und gut ausgestattetes Haus zwischen Blumen und Kräutern, Gemüsegarten und Obstbäumen. Nachts ein wunderbarer Blick auf tausende Sterne (und im August wenn man Glück hat auf Sternschnuppen). Zudem ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge an die Dordogne oder die Vezère oder zu den schönen Dörfern und Burgen des Perigord, auch Lasceaux ist innerhalb einer Stunde mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Nach unseren Ausflügen haben wir abends den schönen Pool genossen. Im Ort (10 Minuten Fußweg hin, zurück weil bergauf etwas länger) findet man mehrere Läden und ein, zwei gute Restaurants. Für Ausflüge benötigt man aber doch eher das Auto. Wir sind glücklich, dass wir für eine Woche in Les fleurs wohnen durften und die herzliche Gastfreundschaft und Hilfsbereitschaft von Familie Dean genießen durften. Vielen Dank dafür!

We werden zeer warm en welkom onthaald. Het huis is fantastisch en zeer net. Alles is aanwezig. En dan de omgeving: adembenemend als je van rust en natuur houdt. Je kan je helemaal onderdompelen in fauna en flora. Wil je toch de streek verkennen, heb je zeker vervoer nodig. Leuke historische stadjes en dorpen liggen rondom. Ook wandelen, fietsen, kayakken...Je kan steeds voor advies en heerlijke historische verhalen terecht bij de gastfamilie. Zoveel gastvrijheid. Wat hebben we genoten van al dat moois. We houden er mooie warme herinneringen aan over.

Magnifique propriété à la campagne !

Notre séjour à Bourgale a été tel que nous l’espérions : ressourçant, calme et nature ! La maison Les Fleurs a son propre jardin, sa cheminée et son barbecue dont nous avons bien profités. Nous reviendrons sans doute un été pour profiter aussi de la très belle piscine ! Merci à nos hôtes, David et Katie, pour leur accueil chaleureux et discret à la fois.

Super erholsamer Urlaub! Tolle Hosts!

Da haben Katie und David ein wirklich tolles Kleinod auf die Beine gestellt. Etwas abgelegen am Hang bietet Bourgale den nötigen Rückzug für ein erholsamen Urlaub. Der Pool lädt sowohl zur sportlichen Betätigung, wie auch zum relaxen ein. Die Umgebung mit Garten, Hühnern, Gänsen und Wiesen biete auch für Kinder immer wieder Spannendes zum entdecken. Und die Abendsonne kann man bei einem guten Glas Wein aus der Gegend auf der Terrasse geniessen. Unsere Hosts Katie und David waren super freundlich, sehr zuvorkommend, sowohl uns als auch unseren Kindern gegenüber. Wir wurden sehr warm und familiär aufgenommen und konnten uns entfalten. Die Gegend ist sehr facettenreich und bietet viel Befriedigung für den Entdeckergeist. Das malerische Dörfchen Villefranch-du-Perigord ist sowohl Anlaufpunkt für die morgendlichen Croissants (kann man vorbestellt, damit man auch um 10:00 noch welche bekommt), den Spontaneinkauf, wie auch für ein gutes Abendessen (Ô Faim Goût’R Mets), wenn man mal nicht selbst kochen möchte. In der näheren Umgebung gibt es genug Burgen, Höhlen zu entdecken, wie auch mehrere Spielplätze für Kinder. Alles in allem: Wir kommen sicherlich mal wieder! Danke an Katie und David!

Twelve heavenly days in the Perigord region!

What a lovely stay at Les Fleurs with the best hosts ever- Katie and David. From booking to arrival - communication was timely and helpful. On our arrival to Les fleurs, David was waiting with Prosecco and nibbles! He gave us a lovely tour of the house and property that made us feel welcome and comfortable! David and Katie have the gift of being available for questions/ suggestions- and then totally out of sight. They are masters of hospitality! Les fleurs itself is a charming 3 bedroom, 2 bath farmhouse with a well stocked kitchen , that came with basics for getting started! The Woodstove was great as it was still a bit chilly in the evenings/ mornings. The local village about 15 minute walk away had a great butcher shop - purchased veal , lamb and chicken, and two small grocery stores that were well stocked! We cooked in most evenings and had lunch out whiling touring the area. My favorite part of the stay - sitting on the porch, listening to the sheep, and other wildlife. What a delightful place to relax and unwind!!

Wat een mooie dochter (en familie) je hebt, om ons uit te nodigen voor een drankje op hun laatste nacht in Bourgale-was zo attent. Zo mooi om te horen dat hun eerste familie vakantie zo speciaal was geweest, en wat een schattige baby ze hebben! We waren zo blij om te horen dat tijdens hun twee weken vakantie hadden ze genoten van het terras, de tuinen, het zwembad... de regio, het eten, de wijn-allemaal het maken van zoveel gelukkige herinneringen! Ik begrijp dat ze zagen een slang (nadat je had verlaten)-wat een privilege! Ook al zijn we omringd door al dit platteland en bos-het zien van deze onschadelijke, verlegen wezens is zeldzaam! Ik ben blij dat we konden al uw vragen te beantwoorden en geschikt voor de laatste minuut toevoegingen aan uw groep. Dank u voor uw beoordeling.

A privileged place in the Periogrd

Bourgale with its guest houses proved to be the splendid treasure described in the VRBO listing. What a privilege to spend a week in such a magical setting close to all the castles, chateaus, formal gardens, medieval hamlets, and extraordinary cave paintings for which the Perigord is justly famous. And yet to also feel you're off the tourist track and being treated like a family friend. Katie and David Dean helped us in countless ways and even made sure we headliner makinggs when we had to drive all the way from Paris because our train was cancelled during the rail strike. The town of Villefranche-du-Perigord itself proved to be charming like so many other historic villages and hamlets but it was the personal attention rendered by our hosts that made the stay so exceptional. Our guest quarters, Les Fleurs were well appointed and with two bedrooms and two baths, perfect for two retired couples traveling together. We enjoyed feeding the chickens each morning and checking on the flock of sheep across the road. Pure Heaven! We are immensely grateful to the Deans because they run their operation with their hearts. We hope to return as many other guests have in the past.

A great family holiday

We spent a week at Les Fleurs in late September as a three generational family for which it was ideal. From a 60+ yr old to 14 mth old. The facilities were excellent and saved our son and daughter in law from having to bring equipment on the plane. David and Katie provided all that was needed including stairgate protection for the verandah at the front of Les Fleurs. The location was beautiful being surrounded by the estate parkland and with the woods at the back- all part of Bourgale. We visited vineyards in both Cahors and Bergerac appellations, as well as the nearby Bastide villages. Sarlat (an hour away) had a great market on Wednesday, with an even bigger one on Saturdays. Nearest Carrefours was 40 mins for a big shop but all day to day items could be bought in Villefranche which is less than a Km downhill. Excellent village butcher as well as two patisserie and general store which had a good selection of local wines and craft beers. In this part of the Dordogne you are unlikely to run out of places to visit. The swimming pool was much enjoyed by our grand daughter who loved feeding the chickens and geese (several times a day). David and Katie were brilliant - offering help and advice when necessary but also being unobtrusive so we were almost unaware of them being there. They were very kind, helpful and interested and we really enjoyed meeting them. The real test is, given the number of other possible locations, would we book again? Within two week of returning I had booked Les Fleurs for a week and Le Noyer for two weeks for early June 2018.

Gorgeous property in the French countryside.

This peaceful property had everything we needed and was close to many lovely French towns and villages. The owners were there for tips and advice on what to do in the region. The pool, property and grounds were excellent.

Amazing

The location is breathtaking, the welcome so warm it even melted away 6hrs drive with a screaming baby, the accommodation was top notch everything you could need and of a lovely finish, with its own undeniable style. The hosts and their family are naturals all warm welcoming helpful and fun, with great local tips and loads of ideas for things to do and places to go. An ideal Base if you want to go out and explore, but equally so if you fancy just getting away from it all, eating some amazing food and watching the sunset while sipping a great local wine. We'll definitely be going back.

Excellent stay

We stayed for a week in late May. Dave and Katie are excellent hosts. They live on the property and are available to make suggestions and respond to questions. Les Fleurs met our needs (2 grandparents, 2 parents and 2 children). Shady front porch, outside dining and swimming pool nice amenities. It's a wonderful place for children - lots of room to run around and chickens to feed. Villefranche du Perigord has all of one's needs: two fine boulangeries, grocery markets, liquor stores with good wine and locally made artisan beers! It's an historic town with none of the tourism that overwhelms Monpazier. It is a great area for bikers: lots of side roads with very little traffic. And the famous Dordogne sites are only 30 minutes away. Jon Halverson

Beautiful! Well-maintained and well-equipped

We had the most wonderful holiday back in June. From the pictures, we were expecting the property and grounds to be lovely (and had spent a long time searching for a holiday property) but it was even better than we imagined. We had a very warm welcome from Dave, Katie and the children (complete with wine and nibbles) and felt immediately at home. There was everything we needed for a relaxing holiday and, importantly for us, the property had everything we needed to keep a toddler safe and well looked after: stair gates around the terrace, a highchair and a very sweet children's bedroom with a travel cot. Our daughter absolutely loved running around the gardens, feeding the chickens and having a miniature tractor ride with the children and ducks! The surrounding area had plenty to offer - lots to see and do. This is clearly a property that has been very thoughtfully and carefully renovated and maintained and having such friendly and helpful hosts (and playmates for our daughter!) was a real bonus. We will definitely be returning!

Beautiful house in serene surroundings.

We stayed in the larger of the two gites and were delighted. Spotless, well equipped and comfortable. We were travelling with two teenagers and a 9 year old and the entire group were very satisfied. Katie and Dave were informative, helpful and entertaining from the first email, until we left.Together with their children, they are the perfect hosts, absolutely 5 🌟.

Comfortable private chalet style property with great views

Les Fleurs comfortably sleeps 6 with 2 bathrooms, is nicely furnished and very clean. The pool is shared with one other cottage and the main house. It has all the ingredients for a secluded 'away from it all' holiday and the English owners are extremely helpful and friendly. We were a little unlucky with the weather (it was cold and wet) which meant that we were unable to benefit from the unheated pool and the lovely veranda which would have been super on warm days for breakfast and dinner. The owners keep chickens so fresh eggs are available and ready made entertainment from their very lovely children should you have children of your own. The local village is actually quite large with several shops, a few restaurants and its own tourist information. We found that the property was a good 40/45 mins from the Dordogne river and the various places you might want to visit - not a problem but just something to be aware of especially perhaps if you are likely to have passengers as the roads are quite bendy! As the weather was cooler than expected we were able to cycle, there are plenty of good cycling routes available some of which are flat and offer a great opportunity for families as there is very little traffic and large parts of the route are on dedicated cycling paths. The area is very green and lush with plenty of cafes and places to visit. Overall I would recommend this gite to anyone wanting to visit the area and would hope you get better weather than we did! By all accounts it is usually very hot.

Brian / Sue We're so glad you had a lovely time, and that you were happy with the house and grounds. It was very sad that you experienced such weather - I couldn't believe your luck, literally the sun broke through full force within hours of your departure and the pool was back up to 28c the next day! I was very glad to hear you arrived home too - without incident. I can't believe you had zig-zagged so across all of France on the way down, but was happy to see you finally relaxed! I'm sorry too that you found the river to be so far away - as well as our own experience, we've referred to the AA route planner - which suggests 30 minutes (tops!) Glad that you profited from some good cycling in the cooler weather and took in the beautiful scenery. Thank you for your review. Dave

Fabulour Les Fleurs

Absolutely fabulous. Our friends arrived before us and they texted to say "Beyond Fab". The gite certainly lived up to this description and a wonderful time was had by the four of us. David and Katie were more than helpful and they made the stay more enjoyable particularly due to the great advice they were able to impart. No hesitation to recommend.

Best holiday ever

I just wanted to write on behalf of us all to thank you for making this years holiday such a success. I can honestly say that this was our best family holiday to date - without exception. You have created a fantastic environment in La Bourgale. Everything from the house to the pool, from the view to the weather, from the chickens to the sheep and the frogs was first class. Of course, all of this would be nothing without the atmosphere created by yourself, Katie, Jude, Martha and Berta. You were fantastic from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The recommendations you made helped to make the holiday even better. Your children are a credit to yourself and Katie - they are so well behaved and they were so friendly towards our two (despite being stalked on a nightly basis for fear of them missing putting the animals to bed). All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and we'll be recommending La Bourgale to all of our friends and family - there has even been a discussion on returning next year with family so watch this space. Thanks again for everything and I hope you have a very successful season.

Absolutely fabulous!

From Australia came Sally and Pete, For four weeks they stayed in a gite, The food was divine, As was the wine, Their holiday was simply a treat! Thanks to Dave and Kate, Jude, Martha and Berta for making our holiday so pleasant, enjoyable and memorable. A five star setting, with five star hospitality, we have loved every minute of it and are taking away with us many fond memories and great recipes! Merci beaucoup! Sally and Pete

Wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage

We have just returned from a wonderful week spent in this beautiful, clean, well equipped cottage. It is in perfect location for exploring the dordogne. The owners are wonderful at welcoming you to the cottage and the dordogne and go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. Our children in particular loved playing in the surrounding fields with the owners children. We have many happy memories and would definitely recommend this cottage.
