One of the most important advantages for the guests of Villa Smeralda is certainly the immediate access to the beautiful beaches of the Lido di San Pietro in Bevagna, unique beaches recognised worldwide for their beauty. Another very convenient access is the grocery shop located a few meters from the property.

The villa is located 30 metres from the fantastic Salento sea, one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, and is 2 minutes from the Chidro river nature reserve. If in the morning you can pamper yourself on the Apulian beaches, in the evening the town of San Pietro in Bevagna lights up with life. The villa is not only conveniently close to food shops and basic necessities, but is also close to many points of interest such as bars, shops, restaurants, historical sites and a local amusement park which is great for having fun with your children.
The symbol of the locality is the Church dedicated to St Peter, which leans against the medieval watchtower. In addition, on the seabed, near the beach of S. Pietro in Bevagna, there are some marble sarcophagi from the Roman era, the so-called Sarcophagi del Re (King's Sarcophagi), the remains of the cargo of a Roman ship sunk there in the 3rd century AD.
On a naturalistic level, the nature reserve of the Chidro river mouth - characterised by underground freshwater springs for about 13 km - and the Salina dei Monaci nature reserve are particularly important. The latter, divided between San Pietro in Bevagna and Torre Colimena (also belonging to the municipality of Manduria), has a beautiful sandy beach with rocky stretches and a salt pond where it is possible to observe the nesting of pink flamingos and other birds (black-winged stilts) at certain times of the year. In the same reserve it is possible to admire sand dunes and a rigorous Mediterranean maquis. The name of the saltworks derives from the fact that in 1731, with the arrival of the Benedictine monks, this sandy depression became a stable place for processing and storing salt.
