About the host
Hosted by Arianna Rangoni Robertson
Capalia has been our family home since I was 2 years old and I, together with my brothers, grew up amongst its serene beauty. My father has been renting Capalia out every year since 2010 and I have now taken up the mantle. I want to be able to share the sun soaked summers I enjoyed as a child with people who have not yet discovered Southern Italy, the Cilento and all its beauty and marvel.
Why they chose this property
My parents fell in love with the Cilento as they were building our house and my brothers and I were small, so they decided to immerse us all in the region. We went to the local school, my youngest brother was born in the house and we made strong life-long friendships.
During those years we pushed ever further afield, discovering the hinterland, the wild and mountainous areas, the secret coves and bays that had long been ignored by roads and by tourists. We watched the hidden pearl of the Cilento slowly start to be appreciated more and more.
We followed the walking trails, discovering hidden gorges, impressive sink holes and met local guides who were passionate about their area. And of course, the spectacular coastline that has pristine sea, pebbly coves, emerald blue caves as well as long sandy beaches.

What makes this property unique
Contrada Capalia is a peaceful and stunning setting to relax, recoup, and enjoy a bit of that Dolce Vita we all are so in need of. Why not? We have rooms that are spacious, with plenty of privacy and outside space.
But just outside the hidden oasis of the house, the Cilento offers more than that and from Capalia you can explore a land that is still untainted by excess development. We want to share with our guests the crystal waters, marine wonders, wild walks, the old villages, the expanse of untouched wilderness and the people and traditions of the Cilento. We want to share our knowledge of this place because it is a special kind of destination.
And there is more… The Cilento is also about traditions in food, local produce and Mediterranean nutrition. The land around is the home of the Mediterranean diet. We make our own olive oil from the trees in the land. Take a trip to the market on a Monday morning, or enjoy a slow meal by the sea to really get a taste of that Southern Italian lifestyle.
