Overall this is a good place to stay. Right in the heart of Grasmere, which itself is in the heart of the Lake District. It's easy to nip out to the local supermarket, newsagent or pharmacy and there are lots of cafes, pubs and restaurants around and about. Walks-a-plenty in every direction! We weren't sure about the parking arrangements; good with two dedicated off-street spaces. There were 6 of us staying in the 3 double/twin en-suite bedrooms; a fantastic set-up when you return from a long walk and all want hot water at once! The downstairs space, I would say, is not quite as homely as the bedrooms; quite spartan, with no artwork on the walls, books on shelves, or similar. The kitchen is fine, though a larger fridge would have been better for 6 of us. When you book this property you're told where to pick up the key locally, but it was only one key between 6. (We were told we should have gone back for another on return, but why not issue another automatically?) The provision of wood and kindling for one fire, was a solitary log! The information file was tired and tatty. And there is over-emphasis on them trying to cross-sell their food at various locations. Time for the management to step up the TLC for people staying! Nevertheless, it's a great and comfortable base for a week away.
