The Enchantment Chamber offers a unique self catering experience within an authentic wizarding world bed chamber complete with an unconventional four poster bed, realistic open fire, real wood flooring and furnished with an eclectic collection of magical artefacts from the wizarding world.

As well as offering a magical experience, The Enchantment Chamber boasts modern comforts in both its self catering kitchen and relaxing shower room facilities.

Located in a traditional mill building within the walls of the historical city of York and a stones throw from the magical setting of The Shambles; said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley.

Sadly NO PARKING is available at The Enchantment Chamber; however a short 2 minute walk from is The Shambles Q Park which can be pre-booked online.

Lovely special retreat

We loved the enchantment for its special look and location. The bed was very comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. There were a few minor flaws that might need some fixing (bed lamp and curtain broken and a missing TV remote) but the responses of Stays York were quick and helpful. We couldn't manage to get the fire DVD working but everything else was just fine. We would definitely recommend this location for a stay in York.

I would say please ensure the documents that are in the enchanted chamber are updated? As Fire doesnt work on the tv now. Also the bedside lamp isnt working or out of a lightbulb. I asked for a new lightbulb and didnt get any reply. Also the internet was quite poor.

A fun little getaway.

I planned this as a surprise getaway for my wife, who is a huge HP fan. She loved the look and what they have managed to create in such a cosy place. The flat is located perfectly just outside the Shambles, it only takes you a short walk to reach it, the walkway at the rear made it super quick and keep's you away from the traffic. We also used Q-Park just across the water which was very convenient. The only negatives we had are easily fixed ones, far side bed side lamp did not work, there was a bit of black mould in the shower and we could not find the remote control for the heating anywhere, so we used the very noisy one on the wall, would of been fine but with the constant knocking of the pipes it made it impossible to sleep with it on and with the huge window the temperate dropped quite quickly. A few suggestions, the built in TV/Fireplace is a very nice feature, but some HDMI access would be great, we brought a console to play some HP games but could not use it. Another suggestion was some sockets or at least USB sockets in-reach of the lovely themed bedside tables. Last one was the amazing LED work in the bedframe ceiling, we would of loved to sleep with them on but they was just a little too bright, but maybe a dimmer switch would let people adjust to their liking. Overall it was a lovely little getaway that we both needed, visited lots of shops in the Shambles, hit up the hole in the wand (crazy golf) and went to The Cat's Whiskers (cat cafe). The Enchantment Chamber was great to come back to after a busy day and get some rest, which came very easily from the very comfortable bed and cosy aesthetics. After all is said, I would highly recommend TEC to any Harry Potter fan or anyone that just needs to escape for a bit.
