The Space:

This is a genuine slice of paradise. I recently completed building this home and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. Enjoy the picturesque waves. Drop a fishing line in from shore or eat baja fish tacos in the nearest town of Pescadero. Grab your board and surf, or rent one from just down the beach! Have a picnic, watch the ocean life jumping and play in the water in front of you. After sunset, enjoy the bright moon and starry sky. There are ATV rentals, horseback riding and hiking all within a 5 km / 3 mile radius. We are conveniently located 15 minutes away from the charming artisan town of Todos Santos and 45 minutes away to Cabo’s night-life. We can also accommodate large groups of up to 14 people.

Guest Access:

Enter through the secure, gated entrance where plenty of parking is available. There is a wonderful beach area right in front with a shaded outdoor bed, recliner chairs, and hammocks on the sand where you are welcome to hang out and enjoy the sun or stars. It’s a private beach out front, which will only be shared with other guests of the property.

Guest Interaction:

Looking forward to saying hi! If I'm not here though, my caretakers will be able to handle your check-in and check-out, and any questions you might have. You have a private deck and suite, however there may be other guests on the property staying in one of our other suites.

Other things to note:

Having a vehicle is essential in order to get around. There are spectacular places to check out as well that create more incentive to rent a vehicle during your stay (waterfalls, other beaches, small colonial towns, restaurants, etc.). The local township of El Pescadero is about 5 minutes up the road by car while Todos Santos is an additional 10 minutes north and boasts some of the greatest festivals/art shows and specialty items of the Baja. At various times of the year you can catch whales migrating, turtles hatching, and some of the best surf in the world.

The neighborhood

People are very friendly in this area, and if you simply want to kick back and enjoy the tranquility, you won't find a better place. Free from noise and hustle-bustle, this is a gorgeous getaway vacation home. There is a convenience store across the road and a delicious locally owned restaurant next door from it that prepares authentic cuisine.

Getting Around:

Buses run usually every hour however it is necessary to have a car in Baja in order to get around and have a stress-free and fun vacation. Most of what you'll need supply-wise can be found in the small town of El Pescadero, a 5 minute drive up the road and for specialty items and a slightly more active atmosphere, the larger town of Todos Santos is only 10 minutes further north or the drive to Cabo is a quick 45 minutes if you'd like to check out the city hub or night life.

About Fred Carpenter

I am a retired Canadian living the dream on a beach I've been coming to for over 20 years. Originally from east coast, I moved west in late 70s. I've traveled to over 60 countries and have been riding motorcycles all my life. More into off-road in Baja, I still love a good road trip. I've owned an RV for over 20 years now and that's how I found Los Cerritos in the late 80s. I love the sunshine and the great climate we have at Los Cerritos, year round. With the Sierra Laguna mountains behind me and the Pacific ocean in front of me, I realize it's a slice of paradise. Watching whales November thru March from my deck is amazing, and the stars at night are heavenly.

We had a great stay at Casa Gaia! Fred was super helpful and his place is a great location at a very reasonable price. We will definitely stay there again. Make sure you check out Art and Beer just up the road while you are there, it was a great find.

Conconully, Wa

Beautiful place. Great host.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was very nice due to the hospitality of the host, the cleanliness of our studio, and the concideration of our privacy.

It is nicer to enjoy a vacation without mass people everywhere.

An all around good experience. Thank you.

Just what the Dr. ordered - solitude, sun, and surf.

Cerritos is perfect if you want to escape Todos Santos' somewhat elitist and expensive crowd of retirees for a true surf vacation. For those wanting to spend time in Todos Santos, or even La Paz, this is a great location since it is close to both. I'd actually recommend staying at Fred's place and doing day trips to both places, rather than the reverse. (La Paz has issues with pollution, so stay out of the water!) However, you need to know how to read the waves and be safe, since there are rip currents and no lifeguards. That being said, you can't beat this location and the waves are great.

The unit has everything you need for a nice week or two vacation and everything works well. It is perfect for two, the bed is big and comfy, the outside shower is lovely, and the beach is so close. The waves can be very loud at night, depending upon the tide, so some might need to bring ear plugs! (I loved it, but more sensitive sleepers may not.)

The beach is empty, minus a few people walking their dogs, or just strolling the beach alone in their thoughts. Fred has palapas and hammocks already set up in the sand in two separate areas, so you won't be stepping on other visitors' toes (if there are any). I loved reading in the hammocks while the surf pounded away and, OMG... I forgot to mention the Grey Whales!!! They swim by throughout the day, seasonally. Twice in a week I was treated to spectacular repeated breaching of mother and cave as they played, rolling and belly splashing, nearby. This behavior went on for ~20 minutes, so I'm not describing a minor event!

And, as a host Fred was very accommodating, friendly, and extremely helpful with any questions. He obviously loves Cerritos and has spent ~30 years in Baja, so knows the ins and outs of how to be happy there. He also has two dogs, so please be "dog friendly". One is a Malinois, Gris, that I was ready to steal since he is such a great dog. He is the guard on staff and does his job well, only barking when appropriate (which is not often) and spending just enough time to check you out before moving on to his other responsibilities. The other dog is a sweet, female Pit mix who will lick you to death and has no interest in guarding the property.

I can't wait to return, hopefully next year :) and until I do, I'll be remembering the sun, surf, and solitude.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying in Fred's studio. It was super clean with a small but well equipped kitchen. The beach front property has little palapas and hammocks right on the beach which is key for hanging out and sunset watching. Cerritos beach is an easy mile walk down the beach for surfing or Pescadero "nightlife". If you like quiet mellow spots to stay, this ones for you! Thanks again Fred!
