About Kevin & Debra Izatt
We live in a small village near Chichester in Sussex and love the countryside and open spaces. We lived for a while in South Africa where we became familiar with houses that were designed to flow from living areas to the outdoor & pool areas to facilitate the outdoor social lifestyle that you want when living in the sunshine!
Kevin & Debra Izatt purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Kevin & Debra Izatt chose Üzümlü
After recently becoming grandparents we looked to invest in a holiday home that our children and grandchildren could afford to travel to. We looked at several Mediterranean countries but nowhere have we found people as friendly or helpful as those in Turkey. Initially attracted to the famous lagoon & beaches of Olu Deniz and the lovely town of Fethiye we spent several years staying in different areas before deciding that Uzumlu was the place we wanted to be. We stayed in & looked at many villas but found few that had the well designed/ spacious living areas flowing from outdoor to indoor that we were looking for. There were many villas with nice views looking up at mountains, but few with the wide vistas looking down that we wanted. We found none at all that had both the sort of views and living areas we were hoping for. We decided that the only way would be to design & build our own villa. We found a plot of land on the slopes of the Uzumlu valley that had the magnificent views we were looking for and with the help of a local builder and architect designed and built our dream holiday home. We love it and we hope you will too! ps The background to our photo above is the view from the other side of the Uzumlu valley to Villa Izzi, which is a little to the right of our heads but too small to see here.
What makes this Villa unique
Unique designer villa, spacious clean cut modern lines with great indoor & outdoor living areas, big pool designed for whole family, amazing views. When you stay in Uzumlu you can enjoy the rustic charm of village life with very friendly locals and sheep, goats, chickens and tractors being the only cause of any traffic jams. You are just 20 minutes from the lovely old historic town of Fethiye and all the coastal activites and modern facilities to be found there, but when you return you will appreciate the luxury and peace and quiet of Villa Izzi, and the 5 deg lower temperatures to be found in Uzumlu!

A surperb villa and location
Our third trip to Uzumlu, and a new villa added to our list. Villa Izzi being our latest rental. You can't fault anything at this superb accommodation, the design, fittings and equipment were all as described making it a perfect holiday location for us and our two friends. Having previously stayed at a property several hundred yards down the valley road I didn't think we could better the accommodation or location. A number of meals were prepared within the kitchen area and the Bbq was easy to use. Everything was provided and we all made use of the facilities at the property. The swimming pool is fantastic and definitely one of the best we have used. All the details provided on the Home & Away website regarding the property were correct, and the information provided by the owner Kevin via emails were informative. All in all a perfect holiday and one we will not forget. Hopefully we will return in 2016.
The area is very well known to us, and there are a number of walking areas. Most of the time we used our hired car to drive into the village which is only 5 mins away. However being a keen walker I walked to the village several times this takes approximately 30 mins. In the village there are a number of eating establishments, Lup Lup, the Winehouse and Eddy's bar all of which provide excellent meals. Provisions are easily obtainable in the local shops however Fethiye the nearest main town is again a short 20-25 mins drive and has a wealth of Cafes Restaurants and fantastic shops, Supermarkets Kippa being one plus fantastic markets providing wonderful fruit and vegetables cheese nuts clothing and gifts - everything you can think of !
The Prominade is beautiful again providing masses of eating places alongside the seafront !
Marks out of 10 definitely 10.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We try hard to ensure our guests enjoy Villa Izzi and this lovely part of Turkey as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you back! Kevin & Debra
An amazing villa! Fabulous views of the mountains
Exceptionally equipped, everything you require. Very clean, amazing pool area. I would highly recommend this villa & hope to go back! The village is very friendly & traditional, can recommend the grape house restaurant/bar. Easy to get taxi but a car would be beneficial. The owners were extremely helpful & gave us the necessary details & contacts. Everything you could wish for! Amazing exceptionally clean & equipped villa. The meet & greet staff were also very nice & helpful. Cant wait to go back
Luxury base for both relaxing & exploring
The property was just fantastic and the owners were very helpful with their information and instructions. The villa was immaculately clean, light & spacious, with most of what you need provided (kitchen ware, towels etc). It was lovely to have proper wine glasses, a juicer, all the pans that you need and several chopping boards.
Having 3 bathrooms was also divine as were all the mosquito/fly screens over every door & window, so you could have these open without insects invading the rooms. The furnishings all look like they have been done by an interior designer.
The owners have provided local guide books and maps, pages of local information for both the villa, the village & further afield, along with a good selection of DVD's and a couple of games, if you just want to relax around the pool or later at night. The pool is perfect for both swimmers or non-swimmers alike.
The choice of dining tables is also good, from the bistro area to the main table - both outside - looking over the pool and then across the valley area. Sitting here you can hear the local shepherd/goat herders & then in the distance the calls to prayer from the mosque and even the chimes of the local school all of which were lovely.
Its about a 20minute drive into Fetiyhe which is a good size town combining both tourist facilities and traditional Turkish life.
The local village (Yesil Uzumlu) is literally 3 minutes down the road by car and has a good amount of facilities (Restaurants, bakers, cafe's, shops, petrol stations) and is very welcoming but really does show the local rural Turkish life without any real tourist trappings so you get to appreciate the real Turkey.
Many people speak English but are thrilled if you make any attempt at all to use Turkish words. The countryside is stunning and we had a holiday that was both active and relaxing at the same time. There is loads to do either culturally or just for sheer entertainment - speed boats, fishing, scuba diving, paragliding, mud bathing, browsing the local markets etc and of course lots of good food, both locally to the villa or further afield.
All in all we would thoroughly recommend staying at this beautiful villa for a fantastic holiday.
We are so pleased that you liked Villa Izzi and this part of Turkey. As you have so nicely put it, it is a wonderful place for a holiday.

Uzumlu is a traditional Turkish rural village in a mountain valley just a 20 minute drive from the coast and the large historic town of Fethiye. With the foothills of the Taurus mountains as a backdrop Villa Izzi is on the edge of the village in a quiet, peaceful location but with a vast range of things to do & see within easy driving distance. In the village centre (4/5 minutes by car) are numerous restaurants, bars, local produce shops, mini supermarkets & a market every Friday that has all sorts of bargain goods. The nearest large supermarkets are in Fethiye 20 minutes away. There are scenic drives through quaint little villages around Uzumlu and the amazing Roman /Lycian ruins of Cadianda are just a 6 km drive from the villa. Along the coast are many beaches large and small, with snorkeling, pedalos, banana boats, boat trips around the islands etc. Calis beach with it's shack type beach bars at the far end (where part of the James Bond film 'Skyfall' was filmed) is about 20 minutes away, Olu Deniz and Gemiler beaches are both about 30 minutes away both very deserving of a visit but quite different. Fethiye old town with it's marina, bazaars, fish/spice markets & water front is about a 20 minute drive with plenty of parking, fountains, restaurants, play areas for children and a long promenade where you can watch the sun go down over the sea. There are many things to do & see in the area - gorges, ancient ruins, boat trips, water parks, paragliding, jeep safaris etc. There is a huge variety of restaurants including some where the seating is a raft on a river or a tree house in a trout farm at the top of a mountain!. The villa has a guide of sights to see and directions on how to get there. Wherever you go it's nice to return to the tranquility and luxury of Villa Izzi.
