We are a family-run guest house, passionate about creating a unique and welcoming experience for our guests. The three of us—Kiril, Alex, and Maria—combine our skills and passions to make this place special.

Kiril and Alex, both interior designers, have carefully renovated our Guest House Villa Alma 1910. Meanwhile, Maria, an agronomist & plant protection, runs an experimental greenhouse and grows eco-friendly vegetables.

Together, we fell in love with the atmosphere of the region, but it was the unique energy of the house that truly captivated us.

Starosel, Bulgaria, is a hidden gem where history, nature, and culture blend beautifully. Nestled at the foothills of the stunning Sredna Gora Mountain, it offers breathtaking landscapes, fresh air, and serene trails perfect for exploring.

This region was once home to the ancient Thracians 4 Millennium BC , a powerful civilization that left behind remarkable sites like the 5th-century BC Thracian temple complex. Believed to be a royal sanctuary and burial site, its grand stone architecture showcases the Thracians’ advanced craftsmanship.

Beyond history, Starosel lies in the Thracian Valley, famous for its fertile lands and exceptional wines. Bulgaria is home to many local grape varieties that produce unique wines with distinctive flavors and aromas. Traditional Bulgarian varieties such as Mavrud, Rubin, Shiroka Melnishka Loza, and Dimyat create wines with deep character and authentic taste, reflecting the richness of Bulgaria’s winemaking heritage.

The main part of the house is a beautifully renovated 120+ year-old clay home, preserving its authentic character while offering modern comforts. Staying here means experiencing the warmth and coziness of traditional Bulgarian blend with Mediterranean architecture, with its thick clay walls providing natural cooling in summer and warmth in winter.

What makes our location even more special is that the house sits on an ancient riverbed. Though the river has since shrunk, its presence remains—a peaceful, flowing stream that adds to the tranquil atmosphere
