Poorly Maintained Property that Spoils the Experience
The property is undoubtedly spacious and architecturally interesting. We were excited about our stay, so it was disappointing to encounter numerous issues with the place, particularly with the host. After we checked in, we quickly noticed the house was filled with scented diffusers (more than a dozen). The smell of incense was a bit overwhelming, so we moved most of them to a cupboard. Just a couple of hours later, it was apparent why there were so many… the house smelled of smoke, especially the steam shower. We opened some windows and decided to just live with it. In the kitchen, we were left with some open food boxes, open vodka bottles, and a half-empty bottle of Barefoot rosé wine. Nothing says classy like other guests’ leftovers!Obviously, it had not been properly cleaned, as we kept finding small bits of trash left behind by previous guests. On the MB floor, we found an empty tobacco container (host claimed that was landlord property) It was adding up to a nagging feeling of ickiness. No soaps, shampoos, or hair dryer were to be found in the house. The following day, one of the toilets won’t flush, and the heat cut off that night. When I let the host know that we were not happy, she called me a liar, worst-guest-ever, childish, absurd, and claimed I obviously tampered with the heating system. Bottom line: this house could be great, but the host has no business managing it. You could get lucky and have a better stay than we did, but I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
