About the property

Quaint, Cozy Cottage surrounded by horse farms in bucolic setting

Relax and enjoy the countryside! Historic 1796 Plantation Farm has a two room guest house nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Virginia. This quaint cottage was formerly a school house located in Hillsboro Virginia. In the early 1900's, this building was pulled 11 miles by mule to its current location. It now sits in a neighborhood surrounded by horse farms and mountain views.

Guests have access to the whole property. Take in the fresh air and country views! Fish in the spring fed pond, pet the goats, feed the cows, gather eggs from the chicken coop or simply wade in the stream.

About Mary Ann Winner

We have been residents of this historic property for 5 years. Dan is a general contractor specializing in historic rehabilitations. As an interior designer, Dan and I have worked together to design and sell many historic properties. Once our family started to grow, we spent 2 years looking for an ideal farm and community to raise our 4 children. We knew our search was over when we stumbled upon this 200 year old farm nestled in the hills of Virginia.

Mary Ann Winner purchased this guest house in 2012

Stayed here for the first time a few days ago. The Winners were awesome--engaged with me in a friendly way but gave me my space. The cottage was cozy and the surroundings were very peaceful, removed of distractions from my everyday life, which is exactly what I needed when I retreated there. The place was very clean and neat as well and the price was a value. Will definitely return for future stays.

Only one suggestion, and I realize this is extremely unique to me, but would have loved a rocking chair. :-)
