We *loved* this cabin! It was secluded and high up on a mountain-side, but it was only, like, 30 minutes from Asheville, so we did get out and about one day. But mostly, we just stayed in and cooked and relaxed with the gas logs fireplace ablaze. The kitchen was very well-stocked. Also, we loved being able to bring our dog. And the smart TV was perfect. Our only complaint was the hot tub; it was an inflatable type, and it could not keep up with the cold. The temperature peaked at 99 degrees, and it would drop from there. Once it got to 93 degrees, we got out of the tub because we were shivering. That was a real bummer. It's probably fine in the summer, but not good enough for winter. Everything else was right on. Thank you!
The tree house cabin was a beautiful property. The location is great and The views are amazing! Mountain views from the front porch, most of the windows, and from the yard area. The master suite is great- large bedroom and big walk-in closet, big bathroom. The bathroom has a door leading into the master bedroom and also one leading into the hallway. The loft upstairs is open to the stairway but very spacious and has a great view. The decor in the house was beautiful, very stylish. Kitchen was well appointed with most everything you would need. We brought a few pans from home because we were cooking Thanksgiving dinner there. The only thing I would change is the location of the TV, which is kind of in the corner of the room and is hard to see from the chairs in the living room. We used the hot tub and the firepit and both were fabulous! I highly recommend backing into the driveway. It's a very sharp left turn and the first time we tried to do it, both the vehicles in our party got a little stuck, so after that we started pulling forward past the driveway and backing into it, which worked great. Overall a wonderful house and I would absolutely stay there again!
We recently booked this house in November for a 3 night stay for a family getaway. We drove from Northern VA down to NC, arrived at 5 PM after an 8 hour drive with dogs and kids. I thought all of the detailed information about the house would be contained in the HomeAway App since it usually is on other properties we rented - not this time. Checked through emails, no information. The house has a lock box on the outside in order to gain entry. Starting making phone calls around 5 PM to the owner - left 3 voicemails. No return calls. Called the corporate number for HomeAway - they had no additional information regarding entry to the house. 6PM, 7PM, 8PM - no calls back. We are sitting in the driveway with kids, groceries etc. getting dark. The corporate office offers to put us up in a hotel for the night - we explained the reason we rented the house is we have two dogs and kids and this is Burnsville NC - not many if any hotels around to take all of us in. No other options but to start calling friends in the area to see if we can stay with them. So back in the car for another hour drive back to Tennessee to stay with friends for the night. Surely someone will call us back and give us the code - nope. So my friend suggests we go back on Saturday morning to check windows, doors etc to see if any were unlocked. So we load back up in the car Saturday morning and head back - sure enough there is a window in one of the bedrooms that is unlocked. We take the screen off and one of our kids gets get through the window and unlocks the door. This is 10 am Saturday - still no calls from anyone. So we go back, get our dogs and rest of our luggage and begin to enjoy our stay basically a day late. As I sit here typing this at 5PM on November 8th - still no call after 6 days. No "hey sorry about the code", no "sorry about the frustration", no "offering a refund of the first night"- NOTHING. Whomever is managing this property is absolutely horrible. Even the corporate office mentioned that they have so many listings they can't even take care of one property. Horrible experience. It is a shame also because the house is great. What if we had a question about the house while we were there? We had to keep the house unlocked the entire time with our belongings inside when we left because we didn't have a key.
Bedding and beds were very comfortable. It was a rainy weekend so didn't use the hot tub or fire pit. Only recommendation would be to have a couple of larger skillets. A med and small skillet to make breakfast for 4 people was a bit of a challenge. The rest of the kitchen was outfitted nicely. We would recommend for a weekend get away! Thanks
We had a wonderful time; except for neighbors' pets, it was quiet and peaceful (and I don't mind occasional barking : ) The house itself is beautifully appointed and had everything we could ask for. I was traveling with some Chinese friends, and they loved seeing the NC mountains. Easy day-trip into Asheville. Hot tub fabulous!! I wouldn't want to drive that road to work every day, but as a "retreat" this house is perfect.
I did leave an item in the freezer by accident - an herbal neck rest that my husband gave me. If the owner could send it to me I'd be happy to pay shipping. Could you please???
The tree house cottage is amazing. Our family was the first to enjoy this peaceful paradise. The beds are so comfortable and everything is new. This is a five star cabin all the way. We will return.
Miller family.
There are many areas and attractions to explore in the Burnsville area. We are the gateway to Mount Mitchell, Our community is quaint and artsy. Be sure to visit the downtown area where you will find great restaurants, coffee shops and a few new breweries. Asheville is just a short 25 minute drive from the cabin where you will find a nice mix of music , restaurants, shopping and activities. If you are visiting in the summer months there is a variety of things to do. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, tubing, sight-seeing, swimming, bicycling. Winter months include a short drive over to Wolf Laurel Ski Resort. There is also snow tubing for adults and children.
