If you are looking to discover more about the religious legacy of this region, a trip to Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz is a perfect way to do so. This spectacular church, which is also known as the Church of Our Lady of Light, was first constructed in the 16th century. However, after the conditions of a devastating earthquake back in 1755, the church was partially destroyed. Luckily, the church was rebuilt and still managed to keep a variety of its original features. Guests are free to explore the interior of this landmark and observe an array of significant and well-preserved artefacts. Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz is situated just under 5-minutes away from the centre of the region.
